Rise of the Lustful Evil Monarch (Re)-Chapter 235: The GobStompers (2)
Third Person's POV
Ethan was fascinated and watched as the parchment dissolved into shimmering sparkles, which ascended in a slow, mesmerizing dance.
The glowing fragments drifted upward until they merged with the surface of a large transparent blue crystal embedded in the ceiling of the guild hall.
A pulse of magical energy rippled outward signifying the completion of the process.
The atmosphere in the room changed instantly.
Velcy and Virelle stared in stunned silence and their faces were pale as they realized the full weight of what had just transpired.
It was too late.
Their team name had been permanently recorded in the official guild registry.
Even the usual silent and unexpressive Velcy was frozen in horror and could barely form words.
Meanwhile, Virelle was unable to accept the reality of the situation as she forced out a shaky question while her voice was laced with dread.
"I-It's done? I mean… the team name… it's official now?"
Aurae was unaware of the turmoil plaguing the two girls and simply nodded with a bright smile.
"Yes, everything is finalized. Welcome to the adventurer's guild, GobStompers."
She desperately wanted to hear a "no," but instead all she got from the dark elf was a solemn nod that confirmed her worst fears.
"It is now magically stored in the database of the continental branch of the guild through this transit crystal," Aurae stated though her voice now carried a trace of hesitation.
As she replayed what she had just written, her expression turned… complicated.
Virelle took a deep steadying breath and tried to suppress her frustration, while Velcy on the other hand had no such restraint.
She grabbed Ethan's hand and looked up at him with an expression so lifeless and so drained that she seemed on the verge of spiritual collapse.
Her dull ice blue eyes bore into him as she croaked out in disbelief,
"What the hell is a GobStomper, Big Brother?"
Ethan blinked at her with a neutral expression, as if the answer was the most obvious thing in the world.
"The ones who stomp on goblins, of course."
Virelle turned her face away as though she couldn't bear to witness this moment.
Velcy dropped her head in defeat and her grip loosened.
Meanwhile, Aurae's lips twitched as she valiantly fought back laughter while her shoulders trembled slightly from the effort.
Finally, after noticing the collective reactions around him, Ethan frowned.
He shifted his gaze between them and crossed his arms in mild confusion.
"Is there something wrong with the name I suggested?" he asked and his tone was filled with unwavering logic.
"I mean, we do stomp those goblins regularly, so I think it's perfectly fitting for our team's name."
The girls remained silent, neither agreeing nor arguing.
Instead, they let out a long synchronized sigh as though they were mourning something irrevocable.
Their expressions were those of people who had resigned themselves to an unavoidable fate.
Ethan's frown deepened. He still didn't understand the issue but as he took in the atmosphere, he slowly understood the things going in their mind.
Shaking his head, he dismissed the matter as something too trivial to dwell on.
However, a sudden thought struck him, and he muttered under his breath,

"Hmm, I should get a custom sheath for this saber. It's still not too late for that before heading to sleep."
With that decided, he extended his hand once more and shook Aurae's hand in a firm yet polite gesture as he expressed his gratitude.
Then, without further delay, he turned away and signaled the end of their business at the guild for the night.
At long last, they had accomplished all the tasks and goals set for their first day in the City of Vord.
Outside the guild, the carriage stood cloaked in the deep shadows of a darkened alley and nestled between two buildings.
The blood slave had instinctively parked it in a way that kept it hidden from the city's vibrant night lights and ensured it remained unnoticed in the darkness.
Ethan's sharp eyes spotted it immediately, and he strode toward the carriage with the girls following closely behind.
However, just as he was about to enter the alley, another voice called out and halted him in his tracks.
The familiar tone made them turn and sure enough, it was Aurae once again.
However, this time she was dressed differently.
A cloth bag rested in her arms, and her outer coat was draped over her shoulders giving a clear sign that she had wrapped up her duties for the day.
They were still a short distance from the carriage, which remained seamlessly blended into the surrounding darkness.
The Blood Slave had done its work exceptionally well and Ethan was confident that even a grade-three being would struggle to detect its presence.
Yet, to his mild surprise, the dark elf disproved that assumption.
As she halted before them, her gaze drifted almost absentmindedly toward the exact spot in the alleyway where the carriage lay hidden beside the guild building.
A silent exchange passed between the trio.
Without needing to speak, they instinctively avoided acknowledging any connection to the shadowy and foreboding carriage or the hooded, lifeless-looking driver who seemed more akin to a specter than a person.
Instead, the moment Aurae's bluish-purple irises snapped back to Ethan's face, she gave a pleasant smile and spoke,
"I overheard what you just said, Young Master Eryndor.
Since you are in need of a sheath for your saber, I happen to know the perfect place.
My work for the day is already done, and considering that you are an outsider in such a vast and intricate city, I would be more than happy to assist you.
Navigating Vord can be overwhelming, and a knowledgeable guide would undoubtedly make things easier."
Ethan regarded her for a moment before his lips curled into a soft, appreciative smile.
"That would be a great help," he said smoothly while nodding in agreement.
"I appreciate the offer. Thank you, Miss Aurae."
