Rise of The Demon General-Chapter 488. Captured By the Rebels Again
Chapter 488: Chapter 488. Captured By the Rebels Again
Bu Zheng was too close. Amon was hit by the unexpected palm strike. The strike caused Amon to vomit blood and lose his balance. Ni Lulu’s long ribbon came then. With blinding speed, the ribbon wrapped his body and covered him until he looked like a mummy.
Amon tried freeing himself with brute force but was unable to. The silver dagger in his hand also failed to cut through the ribbon. The ribbon was made of a special material and enhanced by Ni Lulu’s aether. It was extremely durable.
Amon couldn’t move. All he could do was turn his head. He looked at his soldiers. They were outnumbered, outpowered, and were getting massacred. He turned to Bu Zheng.
"Bu Zheng! You, traitorous scum! You are in league with the rebels?" Amon scolded.
Bu Zheng grinned. "Sorry, my name is not Bu Zheng. I am Ni Zheng."
"He is my cousin. Oh, great colonel," Ni Lulu uttered teasingly.
"Cousin?" Amon scowled. "What do you plan to do with me?"
"You will soon find out," Ni Lulu replied. To Ni Zheng, he said, "Cousin, follow me. With this achievement, I am sure that Luan brute won’t be able to deny you your pardon."

Amon was blindfolded and brought to one of the rebels’ secret hideouts. There, he was held inside a cell and was left alone for a few days. Other than someone bringing him meals and drinks, he had no contact with anyone. It was not until the sixth day that someone came to converse with him.
"Do you enjoy your stay, Boss?" Ni Zheng asked.
"You really got me, asshole. Do you come here to brag? Took you long enough," Amon replied.
"I was tied up with a lot of administrative things. You know how troublesome paperwork can be. Apparently, many new regulations were placed during my absence. You won’t believe how many procedures I must go through to make my pardon official."
"Are you the rebel spy who leaked our troop movements and caused them to get ambushed?" Amon asked.
"Guilty as charged," Ni Zheng answered.
"You, trash! We trusted you."
"Well, you shouldn’t. You should have left me alone when you learned I used to be a member of the rebels. You can only blame yourself for being so trusting."
"Things have happened. There is no use regretting it, but why do you reveal yourself now? You have plenty of opportunity to harm me before this."
Ni Zheng shrugged. "My original plan is to remain with the First Demon Legion until the Ancient Ascension Trial. Prince Huang San promised the public he would get rid of the rebels before the trial. We know you are going to make a big move on us before the trial. I am to learn about your strategy and let the rebels know about it. Probably even hijack it if possible."
"You can’t return to the First Demon Legion anymore," Amon said.
"Yeah. You are right. Even if they don’t know my true identity, it will be extremely suspicious if I return alone when everyone else has died."
"So, why sacrifice your advantage?" Amon asked.
"Firstly, because I have noticed that you are the focal point of the First Demon Legion. You are the one who plans everything. Even Prince Huang San relies on you for most decisions. Without you, the First Demon Legion is nothing but an empty shell. They won’t function well without you and certainly can’t pull off a big operation like eradicating the rebels."
"As I said, you have plenty of opportunity to do that before. Why wait until now?"
"Because you have revealed your secret," Ni Zheng answered.
"What secret?" Amon asked.
"The Allure Beacon. You are Sui Kui’s contact from back then, aren’t you? You are the one who possessed the Allure Beacon that destroyed Qishurg City!"
Amon didn’t answer the question.
"Hehe, it’s too late to deny it now. I know you are the one. You will spill everything out for us. With the power that destroyed Qishurg City, we will topple the kingdom! We will change it to one that is better. One that gives everyone the freedom and happiness we all deserve!"
Ni Zheng noticed Amon’s mocking grin. He asked, "You still have the mood to grin. I don’t truly care, but I will bite. So, what’s so funny about what I said?"
"Sorry, but you are just too typical. There is no one else here, so you don’t need to pretend. Just say you want to topple the kingdom for power, that the rebels want to replace the Huang Clan as the ruler of this country. Just be honest about it."
"Hehe, I’m going to enjoy watching them torture you to make you tell them everything about the Allure Beacon. I like seeing people who act all high and mighty break into sobbing wretches. Please don’t give up too soon. I don’t want the fun to end too early."
"How long do I have to wait until then?" Amon asked.
"Soon," Ni Zheng answered. "We still need to make some preparations first."
"I see. In that case, I will wait until then."
"Hehe. If it’s any consolation, I do admire you, boss. Even with this situation, you remain calm. Or is it just a pretense? Please, just be honest about it."
Amon snickered. He said, "I’m glad we have this heart-to-heart conversation. But if you are not going to torture me yet, please leave."
"... Careful, Boss. We only need you to be alive and able to speak to get the information. I can do a lot of things to you while leaving you alive and still able to speak. Do not tempt me."
"You would have done it if you could," Amon returned. "My guess is the higher-ups told everyone to leave me untouched until further notice. That is why I was left alone all these days, isn’t it? Does your cousin know about you visiting me?"
Ni Zheng didn’t respond. He remained smiling, but Amon could see from his eyes the contempt and playfulness from before had been replaced by annoyance and displeasure.
"I look forward to hearing you scream," Ni Zheng said. He then left.
