Chapter 453: Chapter 453. Confirmation of Captive

From his hiding place, Amon watched two clan members guarding the activity building. His Mystic Sense informed him that the two were Beginning Transformation Stage cultivators.

He scanned the surroundings. After making sure no one was around, he took out a couple of needles and laced them with the Endless Slumber Poison. He threw the two needles, which accurately penetrated the guards’ necks.

The two guards pulled out the needles stuck in their necks. They gaped at the needles in puzzlement before looking at one another. Before long, they helplessly fell asleep on the ground.

Amon came over and grabbed the two. He transferred them into his black space ring. They could not leave the ring if they were unconscious. He glanced at the entrance to the activity building but didn’t enter. Going in blindly was too risky. His objective was first to collect information and determine whether Yi Chaisan was truly captured by this clan.

His next stop was the mansion. Similarly, there were guards at the entrance. Unlike the activity building, there were other people near the entrance. These people were hanging about leisurely in the courtyard before the entrance. They were enjoying the outdoors despite the nighttime. It was impossible to abduct the guards without being noticed by those people.

He patiently observed the people around the courtyard. Maids and butlers went in and out of the mansion, bringing refreshments to the clan members in the courtyard. He noticed some maids and butlers not using the main entrance. They used the side door, especially when bringing dirty dishes back.

Amon studied those maids and butlers. He had his eyes on one maid and one butler. He marked them because they were the oldest among their peers. They carried a certain authority and pride in themselves, and he also noticed them giving instructions to other maids and butlers. He deduced those two must be the most senior among the servants.

With the two marked, he waited until one of them walked to the side entrance. The side entrance had no guards and was further away from the courtyard, so there were fewer eyes. He used his needle with the Endless Slumber Poison to put the elderly maid to sleep. He then placed the unconscious body into his black space ring and moved away.

His last stop was the hospitality building. Though the most likely place to have prisoners was the activity building, Amon still decided to be thorough. The hospitality building housed the main entrance to the clan estate and oversaw the outside street. The street was empty due to the curfew, but a large inn was directly opposite the entrance.

He saw lights from many of the inn’s windows, meaning those rooms were occupied. He couldn’t tell if the people inside the inn were looking outside. This unknown variable prevented him from making a move on the guards.

Bo Wu’s smoke form emerged from his left arm. He heard the hell beast’s voice in his mind. "How about letting me deal with them? If anyone sees, they will appear like they are devoured by a shadow."

"I wanted to capture them, not kill them. Conceal yourself!" Amon commanded in his mind.

"Hehe, suit yourself," Bo Wu receded back into tattoos.

Amon decided to wait. Those people inside the inn should be asleep after it was past midnight. He would make his move then.

Thankfully, he didn’t need to wait that long. One of the guards needed to go to the restroom. He used a restroom by the side of the hospitality building. The guards were probably not allowed to use the one inside the building. So, Amon tailed and ambushed him while he was peeing.

Now that he had hostages comprised of people who should know the coming and going of people from all three Gu Clan’s buildings, he exited the estate and went to the inn he had seen earlier. He entered the inn and asked for a room.

"Why are you outside so late at night?" The innkeeper asked Amon.

"I drank too much. After sobering up, I realized I was too far from my house, so I came here to spend the night."

The innkeeper bought Amon’s story. He said, "You are lucky you didn’t get caught. Ten aer stones if you wish to spend the night."

The standard rate for one night at the inn in a large city was five aer stones. The innkeeper was exploiting the opportunity to charge Amon double the price. Amon didn’t mind. He paid the fee and was shown to his room.

Inside the room, Amon took out Yuka’s prison box. He activated the box and entered the portal.

"Early visit?" Yuka asked when Amon came in. She was hanging upside down from the ceiling but not asleep.

"No one can hear people scream from this place," Amon answered.

Yuka was confused by the answer. Only after Amon pulled four unconscious people out of his black space ring did she understand the meaning behind those words.

Amon bound the four using engraved ropes before administering the special antidote for the Endless Slumber Poison.

When the four woke up, their faces first showed puzzlement. This puzzlement turned to worry when they saw their surroundings. It then became fear when they laid eyes on Yuka, who was grinning at them from the ceiling. The maid started screaming in panic while the three guards tried futilely to unbind themselves using brute force.

"Oh, I love seeing wriggling meals," Yuka remarked.

Amon waited until the four accepted their helpless condition before he stepped in front of them.

"Who... Who are you?" One of the guards asked.

"I am the one who will be asking questions," Amon replied. "A woman with the appearance around thirty years old. She was lean and about this high. Her long black hair is tied into a bun. She wore a green cheongsam. Have you seen any Gu Clan member bringing this woman into Gu Clan’s estate?"

The four were silent, but Amon could see from their eyes that at least two of them acknowledged something from his query.

Amon expected the silent treatment. Rarely in an interrogation where the subject immediately let out all the information. Amon had also been an interrogator so many times that he felt it tedious to explain everything to build up tension. Luckily, he had the ideal interrogation tool now. So, he went directly to punishment. fгeewebnovёl.com

He brought out a bottle containing the Eternal Anguish Poison. He went to the man who guarded the main entrance into Gu Clan’s estate.

The guard stared in horror at the bottle in Amon’s hand as he approached. The guard knew whatever was in that bottle was nothing good. He tried struggling. "What... What is that? Stay away from me! Stay away...!!!"

All his struggling was for naught. Amon’s steel-like fingers grabbed his jaw and forced him to open his mouth. Amon chugged five minutes’ worth of Eternal Anguish Poison into his mouth. Amon then covered his nose and mouth to force him to swallow the poison.

The poison took effect immediately. He screamed hysterically as his skin developed lesions and healed rapidly. The other three were taken aback by the scene. They desperately tried to move away without success when they realized Amon was coming for them next.

The maid was the second to be fed the poison. When Amon came to the third, the man confessed, "She is inside the activity building! She is inside! Don’t feed me that thing...!!"

’That was faster than I expected,’ Amon thought. He was glad. The worst outcome was Yi Chaisan was never caught by the Gu Clan and her whereabouts were unknown. Now that he confirmed her location, things became much easier.

Still, he needed to make sure. This guard could just be saying something to avoid being fed the poison.

"You, traitorous reject! You are not worthy to be called a Gu Clan member!" Cursed the man beside the one who confessed.

’Okay, that confirms it,’ Amon thought. He told the one who confessed, "Since you are being good, you are spared from this. Your friend who claims loyalty to the Gu Clan, however, will receive your share."

"What...? What?! No! You can’t do that! You can’t–argh...!" Amon force-fed the loyal Gu Clan member ten minutes’ worth of Eternal Anguish Poison.

While the three were screaming in agony from the poison, Amon moved the guard, who confessed, away from the rest so they could talk.

"Now, tell me more," Amon told him.

Out of the interrogation, Amon learned that Yi Chaisan was indeed captured. She was brought inside the activity building while unconscious. Amon asked about the layout inside the activity building. Unfortunately, the confessed man only knew the building above ground. He told Amon that prisoners were brought into the basement, and he never went in there.

Amon also questioned the other three after the poison ran its course. The three were more cooperative then, including the loyal guard. The loyal guard had gone into the basement on two occasions. He knew a part of the layout but not all of it. That was better than nothing. Amon recorded everything.

The guard at the main entrance had no information. Yi Chaisan was not brought in from the front, so he never saw her.

The maid, however, had useful information despite having never seen Yi Chaisan. She remembered eavesdropping on her masters talking about a new captive. She heard that they wanted to get information from the captive to curry favor with the mayor. They planned to keep her a secret until they got all the information before handing her in.
