Rise of The Demon General-Chapter 177. The Rebels
Chapter 177: Chapter 177. The Rebels
Li Shi studied the murals for the whole day. After much interpretation, she agreed with how Amon had interpreted the murals to her through the communication device. If these murals were brought up and shown to the world, it would surely mean conflict with Oredolia, not to mention the branch of the Temple of Divinity in their kingdom.
But she thought giving this knowledge to the people was worth the risk. She just needed to convince the royal family to let her hold an assembly to invite scholars from all nations.
Amon thought she was being naïve, but he didn’t say anything about it. It would be her problem. He had no intention of getting involved.
The next day, Li Shi studied how to best extract the murals without damaging them. They might need to punch a larger hole in the ceiling so they could extract each panel in one piece. She was jolting notes, which she planned to give to Captain Xu Shi. It contained instructions on how to carefully bring these murals up.
Amon cultivated at one corner of the great hall. He found no potential benefit in further searching the ruins now that everyone was freed to roam around the ruin. Li Shi also didn’t ask him to. He had scored a significant find. Li Shi had no problem awarding him full academy points, even if he didn’t do anything else for the remainder of their time here.
Of course, since Li Shi was here, Amon didn’t use his black aetherium stone. He just used the common aetherium stone Li Shi lent him for use during their time here.
As the two were doing their things, they heard a commotion. Amon stopped his cultivation, and Li Shi stopped writing her notes. The two looked silently at the hole in the ceiling, which was the only way into this grand hall.
Not long after, a soldier appeared up there in the hall. He looked down frantically until he saw Li Shi and Amon. Li Shi was just about to scold him that the army was not supposed to enter this ruin yet, but the soldier spoke first.
"Tutor Li Shi! Hurry and come up. We are under attack! We need to evacuate as soon as possible!"
"Attacked? By whom?!" Li Shi couldn’t believe her ears. Who in the right mind dared to attack the soldiers of the kingdom? A thought came to her. Was it spirit beasts?
"It’s the rebels!" The soldier up there answered. He then added anxiously, "Hurry! Tutor Li Shi. We need to move now! They have more numbers than ours. They also brought..."
The soldier failed to finish his words as a light suddenly flashed, and his head separated from his body. The head fell and hit the floor near Li Shi and Amon with a thump.
An old man floated down from the hole above.
’Damn! Spirit stage!’ Amon thought. He couldn’t sense someone’s cultivation yet, but he could gauge the danger he sensed from the old man. This old man gave him a similar pressure as Lin Weida and Pai Kuan.
As the old man slowly floated down, Li Shi put herself in front of Amon. She was a beginning Mystic stage. Although she was in the same Martial realm, she was one whole stage below the old man in front of her. She knew that she was not this old man’s opponent.
The old man was aware of this point as well. When he floated down, he didn’t deign either Li Shi or Amon a glance. He just looked around the room, marveling at the hall.
"This ancient hall is indeed impressive," he said.
When his feet touched down on the floor, the old man finally looked at Li Shi. "What did you find in this ruin?"
"Nothing!" Li Shi answered. "This is just a ruin with historical value. There is no treasure! What are the Yellow Voice rebels doing here?" freewёbnoνel.com
"Can you please not call us rebels? The Yellow Voice is a collection of people who refuse to continue bending our knees under the Huang clan’s tyranny."
"You should call them the royal family," Li Shi said.
The old man laughed. "Royal family, hah! I remember when I fought together with who you now call your king. We were fighting against a different royal family. Why isn’t he called a rebel as well? Maybe once I depose him, my clan will be the next royal family."
"Preposterous!" Li Shi uttered.
"Never mind that. I’m not here to chat. Will you let me search your possessions, or do I need to use force?"
"Do not think it will be easy!" Li Shi gathered her aether.
"Really? Do you not know my cultivation?" The old man responded with a laugh.
Amon’s mind was on his flying knives. The only ones that could slightly affect a Spirit stage cultivator were the knives imbued with Thousand Dream Poison and Cold Stiff Poison. But even then, he would need to pierce through the cultivator’s defensive energy first. If the poison didn’t enter the bloodstream, it was useless.
Amon hoped Li Shi could at least cause a tiny scratch on the old man. If she managed to do that much, then Amon could target that spot with his knives.
But before Li Shi could act, loud noises were heard from above. Rock fell behind them. Following the crumbling ceiling, two people floated down. One was a middle-aged but burly man. He was holding an unconscious person in one hand. The other was a middle-aged woman.
Although the floor had decayed with time, its base material was still blackstone. To be able to punch through the floor like that, these two were not simple. As they floated down, Amon could sense danger from these two. They exuded a similar pressure as the old man.
’Three spirit stage...,’ Amon thought with a lament. It was pointless to resist.
Li Shi knew this fact as well. The energy she had just gathered slowly dissipated.
