Rise of The Demon General-Chapter 173. Ancient Treasures
Chapter 173: Chapter 173. Ancient Treasures
"This... This is big...," Amon heard Li Shi stammer. "Are you sure you interpret it correctly?" She asked.
Instead of answering, Amon described in detail the carving on the murals. He let her interpret them herself. After hearing Amon’s description, she couldn’t help but come to the same interpretation. However, she still said, "I need to come down there and see them myself. You need to tell Captain Xu Shi the exact position of these murals. So, when they forced their way down there, they didn’t cause damage to these murals. Once they deactivate the source of this ruin’s enchanted formation, I should be able to come down there and look at them myself. Maybe even remove them intact and bring them to the city."
Amon understood Li Shi’s insistence on looking at the murals herself. Listening to a drawing’s description and looking directly at it could provide a largely different meaning, but Amon was sure his interpretation was correct.
He heard Li Shi’s voice again. "This is truly big. If what you interpreted is correct, it will mean our entire understanding of the demon race has been wrong from the start."
Amon was not surprised. History tended to contain half-truths. It was written by the victors, after all. Since the first son stayed in this world, it was not surprising that a more compelling story was written about him. On the same viewpoint, he could also say that these murals before him were not a hundred percent to be trusted. No one would know the exact history of the past except for the people who lived through it.
Li Shi continued to speak. Amon could hear from her voice how much this revelation rattled her, "If the murals are as you described and if we take them out to show the world, we might get in conflict with the country of Oredolia."
Amon knew of the country from the books he read and from the geographical lessons during one of the theory classes. It was a theocratic country ruled by the Temple of Divinity.
"Let me guess. The country that showed the scholars the stone tablet you mentioned earlier was Oredolia," Amon said.
"Yes. The country was the most vocal in advocating the extermination of demons. You can say that although the Temple of Divinity held power in Oredolia, they have roots in every country in Aetheria. Almost all monarchs of every country practice faith taught by this temple."
"When it comes to faith, it will be most difficult to change their opinions. If you ask my advice, I suggest you destroy these murals without bringing them to light," Amon said.
"How can you say that?! This is precious knowledge from the past! To destroy it is the ultimate sin. We need to bring it up for every scholar to study. If Oredolia has a problem with it, they can send a formal complaint!"
’Heh, I doubt it will be a complaint they sent," Amon thought, but this was none of his concern. Let the passionate tutor deal with this problem on her own. He had reported what he found. Now, back to tending to his own business.
"I will be exploring more. Maybe I can find more things. I will let you know if I find more stuff," Amon said. fгeewёbnoѵel.cσm
"All right. Remember to make a map of the place so we can show Captain Xu Shi the exact location of the murals!" Li Shi reminded. She then quickly added, "And Amon, good job!"
"Okay," Amon replied and ended the conversation.
He went back to the place with the pedestals. The top of the pedestals had indentations. Two of the five intact pedestals were empty. Three contained something. He looked at those three and had no idea what those things were. One looked like a lantern. Another was a small rock. The last one was a piece of yellow cloth.
’Was this an art room? A place where the ancient people displayed weird and useless pieces of objects which they considered arts?’ Amon mused. He sensed no aether from these objects. But then again, some objects had shrouded energy. He needed to poke them with his aether to find out.
Before that, he studied the carved panels behind the three pedestals with items.
The panel behind the lantern depicted a similar square-shaped lantern at its center. A drop of liquid was above it. Around it was all sorts of spirit beasts.
After further observation, he noticed some letters carved below the panel. They were words from his old world again. This one said, "Allure Beacon."
He then looked at the other panels. The one behind the small rock was a panel split horizontally. Each side depicted different scenery. One was a serene landscape with daylight and clouds, while the other was a nighttime and barren scene. An intact human was at the center, seemingly existing on both sides. Underneath the panel was written, "Plane Shift Stone."
The one behind the piece of cloth depicted a dancing woman with a long cloth. The cloth seemed to dance together with the woman. Below it was the words, "Xian Cloth."
After reading the three, he thought about something. His mind went inside his black space ring, where the collection of books from the pyramid legacy was stored. He searched for a while until he found what he was looking for. It was a book titled, "Forgotten Antiquities of Ages Past."
It was a book containing a collection of information about artifacts from the past. The scholar who wrote this book added in its prologue a disclaimer that the validity of the items mentioned inside was not proven. All the information recorded in this book was collected from various sources, of which many were rumors.
He started flipping through the book. In the past, he stopped reading this book after the prologue. He was not interested in information that was not valid. But now, he felt like if there was any book containing information about these three unknown objects, it was this one.
After flipping almost half the books, he finally found one, the Plane Shift Stone. From the information, the stone was an ancient weapon that detonated upon usage.
