Chapter 74: Chapter 74: What a Coincidence

The splashing water hit Sun Aiguo’s face and body precisely.

"Ah—it’s leaking!"

Sun Aiguo nimbly jumped from the bed to the floor, wiped his face with one hand, and exchanged a confused glance with his mother.

"Mom?"

"Looking for you."

Granny Sun calmly put down the basin, pushed Sun Aiguo aside, and calmly took away the quilt from the bed.

Granny Sun, holding the quilt, walked towards Jiang Cheng.

"You said I should dry the bedding."

"Granny! Let me help you!"

Jiang Cheng smiled brightly like a flower, quickly made way, and then followed along.

Today, she truly witnessed the real version of "tough but quiet."

Sun Aiguo stood there, drenched from head to toe, and spread his hands.

"What is this? What’s going on?"

Jiang Cheng didn’t look at Sun Aiguo and said, "Change your clothes, come out, there’s something to discuss about work."

In less than five seconds, only Sun Aiguo was left in the room.

Work?

Finding a job for whom?

His mom’s character and age didn’t seem suitable for going back to work, right?

Sun Aiguo even wondered if it was the family cat’s turn to find a job, not daring to think it was for him.

After all, he’s only an elementary school graduate who can’t do much.

No matter what Sun Aiguo thought, he changed clothes quickly.

There was no choice; when his mom takes action, it’s usually something big.

A few minutes later, Sun Aiguo came out.

He almost sat down from shock at the scene in front of him while standing at the door.

His own mother was smiling?

Not only smiling but also chatting with Jiang Cheng?

Was this still the mother who barely said twenty words a day?

In the yard, Jiang Cheng was cheerful while hanging quilts, getting along with Granny Sun harmoniously.

When they saw Sun Aiguo come out, they both returned to the main room.

In the main room, two high-back chairs flanked a table in the middle, with Jiang Cheng and Granny Sun on either side.

Standing in the middle, Sun Aiguo felt like he had gained another mother.

"Ahem—"

With a "thump," Sun Aiguo knelt down.

A coughing Granny Sun quickly blinked and looked at Jiang Cheng, seemingly asking: Can you even find a job for someone like this?

Jiang Cheng read the look, gave a slight smile and nodded, then said to Sun Aiguo, "So eager to give New Year’s greetings? I didn’t bring red envelopes."

Sun Aiguo gave a silly smile, scratched his head awkwardly, and said, "Uh... my legs fell asleep."

Jiang Cheng responded with a hmph and got straight to the point, explaining her purpose without wasting time.

Sun Aiguo was stunned when he heard it.

"Find a job for me?"

"Yes."

"But I’m too lazy, and I don’t want to do hard labor. I might not be skilled, but I’m quite picky."

Just as Sun Aiguo finished speaking, he saw his mother nod solemnly and say:

"He’s boasting."

Jiang Cheng couldn’t hold back her laughter.

Sun Aiguo pulled a long face: True to being my mother!

"I know all that, so the job I found for you is to play table tennis. You’re pretty good at it, aren’t you?"

At the mention of table tennis, Sun Aiguo immediately perked up.

"There’s such a job?"

"You’ll know when you get there."

Sun Aiguo’s curiosity was piqued completely; he genuinely loved table tennis.

Jiang Cheng checked the time and asked Sun Aiguo to get ready to go out with her.

Sun Aiguo quickly changed his shoes, stuffed a pair of shorts into his bag, along with his paddle.

They left the complex one after the other, with Jiang Cheng giving Sun Aiguo the address before riding her bike ahead. Sun Aiguo jogged his way there.

Arriving at the food factory first, Jiang Cheng bought two ice creams and shared one with the doorman, Uncle Ma.

Just as they were finishing, Sun Aiguo arrived.

"Uncle Ma, I’ll head in first."

"Alright, alright."

Uncle Ma smiled, crinkles all over his face, and pointed in one direction, "Go that way."

"Okay, thanks!"

Pushing her bike, Jiang Cheng led Sun Aiguo directly to find Director Lu.

Director Lu didn’t bother with formalities and said they could tell his skill from just one game.

The player was quickly called over—it was the best in their food factory.

Standing next to Sun Aiguo, Jiang Cheng enthusiastically encouraged him, "Whether you can impress your mom and dad depends on this shake!"

Sun Aiguo was really roused by the straightforward yet motivational words, feeling a rush of excitement.

With a beep... the match began.

Jiang Cheng stood next to Director Lu, patiently watching the match.

The match was intense. After watching the first two sets, Jiang Cheng felt confident about Sun Aiguo securing the job.

Director Lu was pleased with what he saw and, if he won, was genuinely considering keeping Sun Aiguo there.

"Director!"

A man in a white work uniform rushed up to Director Lu, anxious, "A production line is down."

Director Lu instinctively frowned.

"Damn it, these pesky little Japanese production lines, breaking down for no reason every now and then!"

"Get the machinery factory to fix it! You call me; do you expect me to fix it?"

The man in the white work uniform, wiping sweat from his anxious face, said, "The machinery factory can’t spare anyone. They said their new production line is being used, and we need to wait."

"But we can’t afford to wait!"

Director Lu recalled a meeting from a few days ago where the top leader praised the machinery factory for its new production line that could be quickly put into use.

The machinery factory wasn’t bluffing; they indeed were in production.

"Director Lu, I heard the machinery factory needs a new batch of special shoes soon."

Jiang Cheng, who was standing nearby, couldn’t avoid overhearing and joined in the conversation, without Director Lu minding her interjection.

However, he looked at her, puzzled, and asked, "So?"

Jiang Cheng took a step closer, "That batch of shoes has been pushed back, but the machinery factory urgently needs them. If we can help resolve this, getting a couple of guys for repairs shouldn’t be an issue."

Director Lu understood but still questioned, "What’s our food factory got to do with this?"

Jiang Cheng chuckled, "I happen to know the shoe factory wants to purchase some welfare items and has been trying to contact our food factory, but our orders are high, and they haven’t made it onto our list yet."

With that being said, Director Lu would be foolish not to understand.

He could prioritize selling food to the shoe factory, in return, the shoe factory expedites the shoe production for the machinery factory, and they send people over to fix the production line.

Brilliant!

He stared at Jiang Cheng for several seconds.

"You’re quite informed."

"Hehe... just a coincidence."

Jiang Cheng modestly stepped back, ready to leave.

"Director, even if we can get someone from the machinery factory, it won’t work. The line that broke is a new production line, parts we’ve been studying and using without instructions."

Director Lu glared at the man in frustration.

"Why did you save such an important detail for last?"

"You didn’t ask me to say it first..."

Director Lu: It’s hard to conceal the urge to fire someone!

Jiang Cheng, who was about to leave, halted her step, came back in with a cheerful expression, and pulled out three small booklets from her backpack.

"Director Lu, let me introduce myself. I am a translator versed in three foreign languages."

"These are my translation certificates."

Director Lu reflexively spread open his palm.

Even translators can be this impressive? Knowing three languages fluently?
