Revenge with the Power of the Final Boss-Chapter 121
One day—that was the time they had been given.
"Just one day…"
Baek Seo-jin couldn’t help but let out a hollow laugh. What could possibly change in a single day?
On the surface, it seemed like time had been granted to let him decide whether or not to upload the video himself. But in reality, it was merely a brief reprieve, a chance to struggle uselessly in the face of an inevitable outcome.
“Darling!”
“Mom…”
Helping his mother, Kim Yoo-jung, to her feet after she had been humiliated and crushed underfoot, Baek Seo-jin turned to look at Baek Seo-jun. It was clear that Seo-jun had no real expectations of their repentance or confession.
This wasn’t an offer of genuine hope but rather an opportunity to witness their frantic, futile attempts to cling to survival.
“Hyung…”
Supporting his mother, Baek Seo-jin approached his brother.
“There’s still a day left, isn’t there?”
“…This isn’t about that decision. I have something to say before then.”
Baek Seo-jin lowered his head, hesitant to meet Seo-jun’s eyes, and began to speak.
“…I’m sorry, Hyung.”
Bowing deeply, Baek Seo-jin offered his apology. It felt hypocritical to apologize while being too cowardly to expose his parents’ crimes, but even so, he felt he had to say it.
“I’m sorry to you too, sister-in-law.”
Turning to Seomun Ye-jin, Baek Seo-jin extended his apology to her as well. Despite his lingering feelings for her, he had come to realize how wrong they were. Enduring the ache in his chest, he vowed never to act on those feelings again.
“I promise I’ll no longer harbor strange fantasies or cling to you in obsession.”
“I don’t even want to speak to you,” Ye-jin responded coldly.
Her sharp words pierced his heart, leaving a wound he knew would never heal. This one-sided love would likely haunt him for the rest of his life.
But it was a burden he would have to carry alone.
“Is that all you have to say?” Seo-jun asked, his tone indifferent.
“…There’s nothing more to say. I can only apologize,” Seo-jin replied.
Even with the day he had been given, he doubted he would be able to make a real decision.
“Seo-jin-ah…”
Baek Hyung-won’s voice trembled with anguish as he watched his proud son bow in submission to someone like Baek Seo-jun. The sight of Seo-jin lowering himself so humbly tore at Hyung-won’s pride, but his sorrow was focused solely on appearances—there was still no trace of remorse for his actions.
“One day. We’ll talk again after that.”
Without waiting for further response, Baek Seo-jun conjured a portal. Taking Seomun Ye-jin by the hand, he stepped through it and vanished, leaving no clue as to where he was headed.
***
Baek Seo-jin had reversed his position within less than an hour after publicly naming Kim Ho-jun, the headmaster of Kangin Academy, as the mastermind behind the recent academy assault.
"At the age of fifteen... I underwent a procedure that made me selectively distort reality to suit my preferences. It allowed me to ignore or twist anything unfavorable into something more convenient for myself. Because of this, I became consumed with an ugly desire to possess Seomun Ye-jin and couldn’t bear the thought of her loving another man."
What followed was a shocking confession.
With a somber tone, Baek Seo-jin admitted everything—how he had maligned and resented his elder brother, Baek Seo-jun, simply because he couldn’t accept his existence. Yet, he stopped short of revealing the darkest truth: that their parents had sold Seo-jun to the villain So Kang-seok 14 years ago. Instead, he vaguely acknowledged that their parents had wronged Seo-jun in numerous ways.
"I’m the worst."
Reflecting on his cowardice and hypocrisy, Baek Seo-jin struggled to find a way forward. His apologies felt meaningless, and he knew that even if he were to sacrifice himself, it wouldn’t change the situation.
"Hyung wouldn’t want me to die."
No, Baek Seo-jun wouldn’t allow him the escape of death. He would want him to live and endure the consequences of his actions.
"Then what can I do?"
One thing came to mind—a single path he could take.
“Father, Mother.”
Steeling himself against his fear, Baek Seo-jin resolved to confront his parents, perhaps for the first time in his life. With the day he had been given, he would have to speak honestly with them, no matter how painful it might be.
“Seo-jin-ah! Why did you upload such a video?”
“I’m sorry, Seo-jin. This father of yours is too powerless to protect you properly,” Baek Hyung-won lamented as Kim Yoo-jung pulled her son into an embrace, sobbing.
While his parents clung to him in despair, Hyung-won reached out to Choi Kang-in, hoping to sway him. However, the reply he received pushed him deeper into hopelessness:
"I already know the full truth."
There was no surviving as an enemy of the Kangin Guild—not in Korea, and not anywhere in the world. Baekho Guild, despite its reputation as one of the top ten guilds, was merely a subsidiary under Kangin’s shadow. If Kangin Guild decided to crush them, it would all come crashing down in an instant.
More than the fear of losing everything he had built, what drove Hyung-won to despair was the thought of being unable to pass Baekho Guild on to his beloved son, Baek Seo-jin.
“Father, Mother,” Seo-jin said quietly, breaking through their spiraling thoughts. “The time Hyung gave us—there’s less than a day left.”
The reminder twisted their expressions into masks of fear and denial. Though they knew it was true, they could no longer avoid the looming reality.
“Father, Mother. You can’t ignore this any longer. Don’t you think it’s time to apologize to Hyung?”
“Apologize? If it’s necessary, then I suppose I’ll have to,” Hyung-won replied begrudgingly, his expression warped with humiliation. The idea of apologizing to Baek Seo-jun—someone he considered beneath him—was an unbearable disgrace.
Kim Yoo-jung shared the same sentiment, though she remained silent.
“From an objective standpoint, what you did that day was unforgivable,” Seo-jin said firmly. “That’s why you silenced people and tried to bury the truth. And now you’re terrified that the video might go public.”

Seo-jin spoke plainly, confronting them with the harsh reality of their actions. Though anyone else pointing out their guilt would have provoked rage, coming from Seo-jin, their beloved son, they listened in tense silence.
“…I know. But what I regret is not killing Baek Seo-jun sooner. I expected So Kang-seok to handle it…” Hyung-won muttered, bitterness seeping into his words.
His hatred now extended to So Kang-seok, who had not only failed to deal with Seo-jun but had left behind evidence that led to their current predicament.
Hearing this, Seo-jin struggled to suppress the bile rising in his throat.
"Stay calm. You already knew they felt this way. Don’t lose control now."
He had always known they harbored no guilt. Forcing himself to maintain composure, he continued, “You can’t stop the video from being released. What you did to Hyung was too cruel, and I think both of you know it.”
“Seo-jin-ah! How could you say that? We did it all for you!” Kim Yoo-jung cried, tears streaming down her face.
Seo-jin lowered his head, guilt and pain etched into his features. “I know. I’m a sinner too.”
“A sinner? What nonsense!” Hyung-won’s voice rose in protest, rejecting Seo-jin’s words.
“No, I am a sinner,” Seo-jin insisted. “I turned a blind eye to your wrongdoings and resented Hyung as if he were my enemy. I’ve done many terrible things…”
“That’s all because of him! Even Seomun Ye-jin! If he had just handed her over to his younger brother, this wouldn’t have happened!” Hyung-won snapped.
The mention of Seomun Ye-jin brought her image to Seo-jin’s mind. He too had desired her, and though his actions were influenced by the procedure he underwent, he couldn’t deny his own culpability.
“But, Father, objectively speaking, expecting someone to give up their partner just because their younger brother wants them is absurd,” Seo-jin countered.
“Well… but that brat, Baek Seo-jun, he—”
Hyung-won cut himself off, realizing how his words might sound to Seo-jin. The growing gap between their perspectives left him visibly frustrated.
“Father, Mother. I have a question for you.”
“What is it?”
“What do you want to know?”
“Why did you hate Hyung so much? Why did you treat him so differently from me? What did he ever do to deserve being denied food, proper clothes, and basic care? Why did you sell him to villains when he was just ten years old?”
Seo-jin’s voice trembled as he asked, his emotions barely contained. His parents fell silent, unable to answer. There was only one truth behind their actions, but saying it aloud was a step they weren’t ready to take.
