Chapter 29: The Unfollow Storm

The days flew by, and soon, it was the morning of Friday.

Tonight, the episodes of To Your Heart and The Insiders were slated for release.

Both AxisPlay and Dragon Films had spared no effort in promoting their dramas to the best of their capabilities.

Today was the day of results.

However, it wasn’t solely their dramas debuting today; there were four others from different platforms, releasing their episodes in the same prime slot.

Two of them were even rivals of Dragon Films, and two were mid-tier platforms.

However, these dramas were not their flagship shows. They weren’t investing as many resources as Dragon Films.

Even then, they had spent more than what AxisPlay had on marketing and promotions.

It was only due to Aren and the first season that To Your Heart was more well-known than their dramas.

On this seemingly tranquil morning, AxisPlay decided to bring out their trump card, which they had been saving for this exact moment.

Bonh, the media house, published an article that ignited widespread buzz instantly.

’To Your Heart’s cast salaries revealed. You will be shocked to find out Aren’s salary. Click to discover more...’

The article featured a table listing each cast member’s salary.

At the table’s conclusion was Aren, with his 8 million salary.

It wasn’t a high salary when compared to what other platforms paid their lead actors; however, amid the modest pay of his co-stars, his compensation stood out glaringly by comparison.

Other media houses and marketing accounts used this exact table to publish their own respective articles.

The netizens reacted almost immediately to these articles:

[Wasn’t Aren supposed to be suffering? Then what is this? Why is he getting paid more than even the leads combined?]

[My goodness... this high salary for a rookie? That too from AxisPlay? Just what did Aren threaten them with?]

While there were curious onlookers, Theon’s fans still took the spotlight when it came to commenting on something related to Aren.

[You consider this high? Theon must have been paid double this. It’s just his humbleness that he doesn’t boast like someone shameless.]

[Can we trust this information? I think Aren is trying to circulate false information to gain publicity. Aren should just come out and apologize at this point.]

[What does this even change? Getting more money doesn’t make you superior. Theon is still debuting with a greater role and platform. So suck it, Aren!]

To retaliate against the attention Aren was receiving, Theon asked Axel, Jax, and Lucas for help.

Shortly after, all three of them made a post from their official PulseX accounts.

[Best of Luck to The Insiders! We will be watching your episode, Theon. Ventage forever💜]

They also shared the trailer of The Insiders to illustrate their camaraderie.

Immediately after, Theon shared screenshots of their posts and wrote:

[Ventage forever💜]

Comments flooded in at breakneck speed, propelling the post to trend on PulseX.

[Aww... they are so sweet. This is the Ventage I remember and love.]

[Phew... they finally left Aren. Let him rot alone.]

[This just shows that Ventage isn’t disbanded. They are still together. Just someone has been kicked out, lol.]

Aren’s inbox began flooding with messages of ridicule, attracting his attention to the post.

[Hahaha, you got what you deserved! Forget taking advantage of Ventage anymore!]

[You are so insufferable. Finally, other members of Ventage also realized that.]

[Don’t come crying now that you have been forgotten. Stay where you are, you piece of shit!]

At first, Aren was perplexed as to what he had done; however, one of the haters was kind enough to leave a link to Theon’s post.

"Oh, so that’s how it is." Aren smirked. "I should return the favor then."

He went to his follow list on PulseX and began to unfollow everyone.

Since not one of them had helped him in his time of need, they weren’t his friends anyway.

After unfollowing everyone, he followed Gisha, Lisa, Leon, Mike, and To Your Heart’s official account.

Mike was the actor playing the villain in To Your Heart. He was almost thirty, being more mature and experienced than the other cast members.

Leaving only the trailer of To Your Heart remaining on his profile, Aren deleted all his past posts.

As netizens noticed this change, they began to comment on it.

Ventage fans as a whole swarmed like bugs under his only post to curse him.

Suddenly, new hashtags began to climb the ranks of the trending topics.

#ArenDeletesPosts#

#ArenUnfollowsEveryone#

These hashtags further notified everyone about his actions.

[You shameless. Stop latching onto Ventage’s popularity. Leave Theon, Axel, Jax, and Lucas alone!]

[Such a crass move to get publicity. Can’t you do anything on your own?]

[How dare you unfollow them first? It should’ve been the other way around!]

[What are you trying to show, you faded star? You are not even worth being unfollowed.]

[The rest left him alone to not give him any publicity. But look at this attention seeker.]

Due to the outrageous comments, Aren’s post surged to trend on PulseX instead of Theon’s.

Theon clenched his jaw in anger, hurling his phone onto the bed.

"Damn it! He is so insufferable!" He uttered through gritted teeth.

Then, exhaling a sigh to compose himself, he revealed a dark smile.

"Whatever. He will know his place once our dramas air tonight. I don’t believe his trashy drama can withstand our star-studded spy thriller."

Time passed in the blink of an eye; the release time was mere minutes away.

In front of the television, Nick, a 23-year-old man, waited for To Your Heart’s first episode to begin.

He had gotten his first job just last year and was now living alone in a small rented house.

He mostly remained busy with his job, but after seeing the fan wars on the internet, he had been drawn by them. He watched both trailers, and To Your Heart simply aligned better with his preferences.

He had already binge-watched the entire first season last weekend.

Since the drama aired on a Friday night, he didn’t have to worry about work the next day since Saturday and Sunday were off, and he didn’t have to go to work.

And then, the moment arrived.

The first episode officially began...
