Return of the King, Dominating the City-Chapter 1496 - 1481: Return
Now, a week had passed since Abe Jinming’s death.
Song Yun’s body had also finally fully recovered.
Today was the day Song Yun returned to Shen Zhou.
Initially, the RB regime had been very focused on capturing Song Yun, but the domestic riots in RB had distracted the regime’s attention. Most of the troops went back to suppress their own people rather than capture Song Yun, making his departure from RB particularly effortless.
However, quite a few people attempted to assassinate Song Yun along the way; he encountered at least five assassination attempts by masters, but he slyly handed these enemies over to Kunpeng.
After a few people were taken out, those hoping to take advantage finally realized that Song Yun, who had killed Abe Jinming, one of the top three on the War God List, was accompanied by the legendary Kunpeng.
With Kunpeng’s protection, everyone gave up the idea that anyone could harm Song Yun unless Alexander himself came.
However, few people knew that Alexander did not refrain from going; he went but was driven away.
As the RB port faded from his view, Song Yun couldn’t contain his excitement and let out a roar.
Indeed, this time visiting here was an exhilarating experience for Song Yun.
After an unknown number of hours at sea, Song Yun finally returned to SH.
This time, Song Yun traveled by ship because the corresponding checks were relatively relaxed, whereas flying would have been more strict. Moreover, Song Yun returned with some Shen Zhou inspectors, who went to RB for so-called investigations organized by multiple countries. Some left earlier on this ship.
Although RB’s efforts to capture Song Yun had weakened, they were still ongoing.
As Song Yun set foot on the land of Shen Zhou, he immediately felt like a hero returning home.
Not many came to greet Song Yun, but among them, he unexpectedly found a notable figure.
Municipal System SJ Ma ChunTian.
Ma ChunTian discreetly brought a secretary along for a simple welcome convoy.
"Welcome home, our hero, Comrade Song Yun!"
Ma ChunTian grinned as he approached Song Yun coming off the ship.
Song Yun was a bit surprised by Ma ChunTian’s enthusiasm, but since the man warmly received him and called him a hero, being too cold would seem foolish.
Song Yun quickly returned the smile and stepped forward.
"Hello, Ma SJ," Song Yun said first.
"Haha, Song Yun, hello, haha." Ma ChunTian said, vigorously patting Song Yun’s shoulder, "This trip brought Shen Zhou great honor, hahaha!"
Song Yun chuckled, choosing not to respond. Some things are better left unsaid if understood.
"The municipal system has prepared a welcome banquet for you, ride in my car." Ma ChunTian inquired.
"This..."
Song Yun had planned to rest well but was surprised Ma ChunTian hosted a banquet, leaving Song Yun a bit taken aback.
"I have a commendation order issued by No. 1 himself!"
Ma ChunTian whispered. 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
"Oh!"
Song Yun nodded, glancing at Chen Mengjie and Feng Gang, saying, "You two join me tonight."
"I’ll pass!"
Feng Gang wisely shook his head, saying, "I need to check on my tapes; those must remain intact!"
"I’ll accompany you." Chen Mengjie said with a smile.
"That’s settled then. Director Feng Gang, I’ll borrow Mengjie for tonight, no problem, right?" Song Yun asked.
"Considering you rescued her, you’re her benefactor. Naturally, it’s no problem. Not just a few days, even a few months would be fine." Feng Gang replied with a suggestive smile.
Song Yun smiled, bade farewell to Feng Gang, and then got into the car arranged by Ma ChunTian with Chen Mengjie by his side. The group headed to the SH municipal system, while Shi Huntian departed after disembarking.
The banquet wasn’t held at the municipal system but at a nearby hospitality hotel. However, Song Yun wasn’t immediately taken by Ma ChunTian but went into the municipal system building, supposedly for a brief report meeting.
One must say, Shen Zhou’s love for meetings never ceases. Song Yun wasn’t sure what he could report, like detailing his killings in RB, battles with Abe Jinming, or slaying the remodeled humans.
However, Ma ChunTian clearly didn’t intend for Song Yun to speak much at this report meeting. He simply introduced Song Yun’s advanced deeds in contributing to the nation and then announced Red Wall’s commendation for Song Yun.
The commendation had a puzzling title: recognizing Song Yun’s contribution to the everlasting friendship between Shen Zhou and RB.
Song Yun’s expression turned perplexed – having killed so many in RB, now being acknowledged for contributing to everlasting friendship seemed like... a slap in the face for RB.
But the commendation was indeed powerful, directly promoting Song Yun to the rank of Lieutenant General, with significantly improved benefits on all fronts. However, such things were icing on the cake for Song Yun; the most crucial aspect was Red Wall awarding him a medal.
The Medal of Valor.
This medal was made of pure gold, fashioned into a cross shape, looking very beautiful. It’s said to be one of Shen Zhou’s highest awarded medals. The Song family once received one during wartime.
This medal, though not worth much financially, had immense significance, as it was awarded to Song Yun by direct order of No. 1, reflecting No. 1’s significant concern for Song Yun, which clearly showed some intervention from the Song family.
After the report was completed and the commendation announced, Song Yun was taken by Ma ChunTian to a hospitality hotel for an extravagant evening banquet. During this time, with drinks and cheers exchanged, Song Yun and Ma ChunTian appeared very close as if not for the incident with Ma Lele and Song Yun’s intention to leverage him against the Wen Commerce Association, they might have genuinely become friends.
Different stances destined Song Yun and Ma ChunTian to remain only surface-level friends.
Leaving the municipal hospitality hotel was around eleven o’clock; although Ma ChunTian was adamant that Song Yun stay at the hotel, Song Yun declined, accompanied by Chen Mengjie, then drove her home.
Just as he relaxed, his phone rang.
It was Shi Huntian’s call.
The elder, also injured, had left right after disembarking, with Song Yun not asking where he went. Although a subordinate, Shi Huntian had seniority and had gone through thick and thin with Song Yun in RB; the subordinate status was rather nominal.
"I went home first; this incident has grown very big, and the family wants to know about it!"
