Return of the Antagonistic Lady Boss-Chapter 540 - 514: Lang Is Unhappy
Whether a man cares about a woman or not can be seen in how he handles matters related to her. Qian had once asked Yu Minglang to investigate her father long ago, yet he remembered all those details.
"Get me this person’s whereabouts immediately, by any means necessary. Once you find them, hold them down and don’t let them escape."
Yu Minglang drove the car swiftly. Jia Xiufang’s home was just a few minutes away from Yu Minglang’s place. 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚
As soon as they entered the hallway, the acrid smell of smoke hit them. Her door was wide open, and several men who looked like hooligans were either leaning against the wall or sitting on the stairs, cigarette butts scattered everywhere.
Seeing Qian and Yu Minglang come up, one person immediately stood up and ran into the house, and they could hear him reporting to the people inside.
"Jiu, Chen Lin’s daughter is back."
Qian and Yu Minglang exchanged a glance. These people could recognize her without her introducing herself, so they must have done their homework beforehand, confirming her and Yu Minglang’s suspicions.
Soon, a swaggering man came out from inside; he was the one who called himself Jiu over the phone.
Seeing Qian, his eyes lit up. This girl was even prettier than in her photos.
Yu Minglang felt the man’s undisguised evil intentions and suddenly emitted a murderous aura. Although Jiu didn’t know what Yu Minglang was up to, animals have instincts. He felt like a mouse seeing a cat when he faced Yu Minglang; the aura from Yu Minglang’s body was beyond what ordinary hooligans could handle.
"Didn’t I tell you not to report? Who... who is he?" Jiu shifted his gaze away from Yu Minglang, not daring to meet his sharp eyes.
His momentum was evidently diminished, and his tone when talking to Qian had lost any interrogative force. Although there were many people present, they didn’t seem to have any advantage.
"He’s my boyfriend. Where’s my mom?"
"She’s inside—where’s the money?" Jiu finally remembered his purpose. The gang of misfits around him also started jeering, but when Yu Minglang glanced around, they all shiftily averted their eyes and dared not speak.
"Your mother is inside." Jiu was also feeling a bit nervous, very wary of Yu Minglang.
Qian was not affected at all and didn’t pay attention to these hooligans. She strode into the room, with Yu Minglang following closely behind.
Once the two entered, Jiu stood at the doorway, feeling an inexplicable sense of fear.
"Jiu, nothing’s gonna happen, right? This guy doesn’t seem easy to deal with. Did that lady bring someone?"
A lackey voiced the concerns of everyone.
Jiu was also unsure; anyone could see Yu Minglang was not easy to handle. These people had been in and out of jail for petty thefts and could tell Yu Minglang’s aura was different. Although they usually got scared when seeing police uniforms, the murderous vibe around Yu Minglang was not easy to cultivate.
"It doesn’t matter. Stick to the original plan! There’s so many of us, are we afraid of him alone? No matter how tough he is, he can’t beat all of us! Let’s go inside!"
Jiu spoke, trying to muster courage based on their numbers.
As soon as Qian entered the room and saw the scene inside, her anger flared up immediately.
Her mother was watched by several people, unable to move on the sofa, while her brother and Mr. Liao were pinned in the corner by two men. Da Long had clearly been beaten, and so had Mr. Liao; his glasses were cracked. Two burly men tied up Da Long and Mr. Liao with ropes.
Mr. Liao was purely implicated. He saw that Fanglin’s door was tightly shut after work, heard loud talking inside, felt something was wrong, and knocked on the door to check.
Seeing someone causing trouble for Fanglin, Mr. Liao immediately tried to intervene heroically but got punched in the glasses, and his phone was smashed. Claiming to be a court president, these people laughed till they lost their breath and tied him up.
A court president is supposed to be a chief judge, right? What kind of chief judge would live in such an old residential building, dressed like an ordinary person? Lying about being someone respectable was taken as a joke, and they beat up this "president"!
And so, Mr. Liao ended up tied up while trying to play the hero.
"Qian’er!" Jia Xiufang burst into tears upon seeing her daughter return.
The situation wasn’t as bad when she first called. While she was talking to her daughter, Chen Zilong came back from school. Seeing so many people at his door and surrounding his mother, the teenager’s fiery spirit burst forth, and he rushed up to struggle, only to be tied up.
Later, Mr. Liao came to stop them but failed. When he tried to call the police, his phone was smashed; these two were full of energy yet overwhelmed by the numbers, beaten black and blue and bound with ropes, even having their mouths gagged.
Seeing Qian arrive, Chen Zilong groaned. He worried his pretty sister might get bullied. It felt just like a hero movie: Sis, don’t worry about me, just go, waaah!
Seeing her brother bullied and the neighbor involved, Qian’s anger couldn’t be contained.
She rushed over to check on Jia Xiufang. Luckily, her mother wasn’t harmed; the hooligans hadn’t laid hands on her, but Jia Xiufang was clearly frightened, especially upon seeing Qian, tears streamed down her face.
"Why did you come back..." Jia Xiufang’s voice trembled.
Her daughter had said she was going straight to school the day before—for obvious reasons, Qian couldn’t tell her mother she had spent the night with a man, so Jia Xiufang assumed Qian was no longer in Q City. When calling, she just wanted to see if the Yu Family could help them out of danger.
She didn’t expect her daughter to actually come back.
With so many thugs at home, Jia Xiufang feared her daughter might get hurt. Though her future son-in-law was also here, Jia Xiufang wasn’t reassured. No matter how capable Yu Minglang was, could he handle so many people?
"Did they hit you?" Qian asked.
"No, but they hit your brother, and your Uncle Liao also got hit..." Jia Xiufang looked towards her son, tears falling even more. Her son was beaten right before her eyes, and so was the kind neighbor from next door.
No matter how she pleaded, these people wouldn’t listen. The whole situation scared Jia Xiufang terribly.
She’d been honest and upright all her life; she hadn’t encountered anything like this before.
"Mei, take your mother to the bedroom, I’ll handle this here."
Yu Minglang said in a deep voice. From the moment he saw his future brother-in-law tied up and bullied, Lang couldn’t quite suppress his violent instincts.
"Be careful."
Qian helped her mother up, and when a lackey tried to block her, Yu Minglang gave a glance that scared him into not daring to move.
Qian just openly led Jia Xiufang into the inner room.
Once the door was closed, Jia Xiufang’s voice trembled as she spoke, "Qian’er... Is Minglang going to be okay outside alone?"
"Don’t worry, he knows what he’s doing."
No sooner had Qian spoken than a scream was heard from outside.
