Chapter 60: Chapter 60: What Is Their Relationship?

Ashley Grant was already completely swooning.

Leona Grant’s expression instantly soured. He said icily, "It looks like you have too much time on your hands lately. Is your homework done? Other students wish they could turn one hour into two, but look at you, sleeping in this late. Do you think your teachers in Celestia are too lenient?"

Ashley Grant shot him a look of disdain. "Listen, pal, if your wife ran off, go chase her. Why drag an innocent person into this? I’m your wife’s sister-in-law *and* her best friend. Haven’t you ever heard you should never cross a woman’s bestie?"

The corner of Leona Grant’s lip curled into a smirk. "Your studies don’t conflict with your relationship with your sister-in-law. Tomorrow, you’ll report to Riverwood High School in Lynton. I’ll hire a tutor to supervise your studies twenty-four-seven. If your grades drop by even a single point, I’ll hire another one for a two-pronged approach. And so on."

"Are you serious?"

"Don’t you admire your sister-in-law? Not just anyone can be a top student. If you want to achieve your dreams, you have to take action. Your sister-in-law and I will support you emotionally and financially. We believe in you!"

Ashley Grant’s mouth twitched. "Dude, you don’t have to go that far. Are you really going to take it out on an innocent person?"

"Fine, I’ll just hire two of them from the start. They can work in shifts, seven days a week."

Ashley Grant lost her composure. "Leona Grant, you’re just taking your anger out on me! It’s a waste! You’re Hitler, a Saiyan, a fascist, the embodiment of evil capitalism! So what if you’re rich? There are children in poor, mountainous regions who can’t even get a decent meal! I have teachers, I have study aids, and you still want to hire a tutor for me? Isn’t that a waste of money? If you keep wasting money like this, you’ll be struck by lightning!"

"You’re not a capitalist, right? How about this: from now on, I’ll help you donate your twenty-thousand-a-month allowance to those poor, mountainous regions. What do you think?" Leona Grant said lightly, glancing at her.

Ashley Grant: "..."

Seeing Ashley Grant fall silent, Leona Grant’s lips curled into a smirk again. He walked out without looking back. "I’m honored to be the most powerful person in your mind, whether I’m a fascist, Hitler, or a Saiyan. If you’ve got the guts, then represent justice and destroy me. I’m begging you, wait until you have the ability to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with me, then come and throw all your achievements in my face. But right now, you’re a good-for-nothing who can only obey my orders."

Ashley Grant watched his arrogant back, fuming with rage.

’Am I really a freebie that came with a phone plan?!’

’How could such a brother exist in this world!’

’"Represent justice and destroy him," "throw it in his face"—what nonsense! This is a provocation, a blatant provocation!’

Ashley Grant slumped onto the sofa, deflated. She was kicking herself.

’I was just trying to provoke Leona Grant, but I ended up trapping myself. Was the trouble really worth it?’

She casually picked up an apple from the table and took a bite. As she sat there, a brilliant idea flashed through her mind.

_Your sister-in-law and I will support you emotionally and financially. We believe in you._

’I... and your... sister-in-law...’

’We?’

’Excuse me?’

A glint of understanding flashed in Ashley Grant’s eyes.

’Hmm... I think I’ve discovered something huge.’

...

Leona Grant walked out of the living room and viciously kicked the gushing fountain.

His mind, as if possessed, endlessly replayed Ashley’s words: *"My sister-in-law and he are incredibly close. They basically did everything together—food, clothes, housing, travel. They even shared an apartment in Albion. Do you think my sister-in-law will get with him after you two divorce?"*

’They did everything together and even lived together?’

’Shit!’

’Didn’t she claim over and over that she only liked me?’

’Why was she getting all cozy with another man behind my back?’

’Who is this Aaron?’

’What is he to Annabelle Linton?’

’What’s their relationship? And where is he now?’
