Remarriage Failed Again Today-Chapter 155: A Wolf in Front, a Tiger Behind
"Damn you, Lucy Locke! If I make it back alive, I’m going to skin you, drain your blood, and fucking murder you!" With that, Ashley Grant bolted out of the private room and vanished in a flash.
"Haha! She can’t even save her own skin, and she wants to murder me?" Lucy Locke laughed, but her smile soon faded. "I wish my uncle would keep me in line the way Ashley’s brother does..."
...
Ashley Grant snuck out of the private room, but after just a few steps, a group of men started shouting at her, "The Young Miss is over there! Get her, quick!"
Ashley Grant: "..."
She had a feeling she was really going to die here today.
’But is giving up so easily my style?’
Ashley Grant ran forward for dear life, but a group of bodyguards suddenly emerged from around a corner.
Ashley Grant instinctively darted to the right, where yet another group of bodyguards appeared.
There were even more bodyguards behind her; she didn’t even dare to look!
Forced to a stop, Ashley Grant swept her cool gaze over them and lifted her chin. "What do you think you’re doing? A friend of mine is celebrating her birthday here, and I came to her party. How dare you ruin my good mood? You all have some nerve!"
The lead bodyguard stepped forward and gave Ashley Grant a respectful 90-degree bow. "Apologies, Miss. We are acting on the Young Master’s orders. Forgive the offense."
With that, he signaled to the men behind him with his eyes. Two bodyguards came forward, flanked Ashley Grant, grabbed her arms, and took her backpack. "Our apologies, Miss!"
Ashley Grant suppressed her lingering fear and sighed in resignation, then kicked the two bodyguards away. "I can walk on my own. Get lost!"
None of the bodyguards spoke.
Surrounded by the men, Ashley Grant walked slowly for a couple of steps, then stopped. She turned to the lead bodyguard. "Before we go, I’d like to use the restroom. Is that a problem?"
"Apologies, Miss. We have a van waiting for you just outside. Please hold on until you’re in the vehicle."
"Shit! But I really can’t hold it!" Ashley Grant roared.
The bodyguards: "..."
The bodyguards had already witnessed firsthand how much of a scene this young miss could make.
The lead bodyguard’s expression remained unchanged. "This is non-negotiable. Take her away!"
As he spoke, two more bodyguards stepped forward to grab her arms.
Ashley Grant kicked one of them away, stomped her foot in frustration, and continued walking forward on her own.
Surrounded by the men, Ashley Grant reached the elevators. The bodyguards, afraid she would use the chaos of the main lobby to escape, decided to take the emergency stairs and leave through the back exit.
When they reached the back exit, Ashley Grant knew it was now or never. Her eyes darted around before she snatched her backpack out of a bodyguard’s grasp, pulled out the pepper spray inside, and blasted the man next to her, clearing a path.
Then she bolted forward with all her might!
"Dammit! The Young Miss is running! Get her!" the bodyguards shouted as they came to their senses and gave chase.
’Damned if I do, damned if I don’t. Ashley, this is your only chance—grab it!’
Ashley Grant sprinted desperately to the elevators and frantically jammed the button, but the damn thing was still slowly ascending.
"FUCK YOUR MOTHER!"
Seeing the bodyguards closing in, Ashley Grant abandoned the elevator, ran to the emergency stairwell on the other side, and forcefully slammed the door behind her.
She had just made it to the third-floor landing when a group of bodyguards appeared, coming down the stairs.
"Leona Grant, you really are my fucking brother!" Trapped between a rock and a hard place, Ashley Grant darted out of the stairwell and, without thinking, burst into a private room.
...
"Welcome, everyone, and thank you for doing me the great honor of taking time from your busy schedules to attend my ’Concubine Selection Banquet’! They say a wife at home is a treasure, and choosing the right one to spend the rest of your life with is the most wonderful thing in this world, so..."
"Are you ever going to get on with it? Why haven’t we started yet..." someone grumbled, annoyed.
