Chapter 135: Chapter 135: Are You Going to Sever Ties With Your Father?

As everyone watched, Chase Lynch strode onto the stage and naturally came to stand beside Annabelle Linton. He looked at William Chapman with a smirk. "President Chapman, did I hear you correctly?"

"You..." William Chapman’s face was pale. "But I’m the company’s legal representative!"

"Hah." A sarcastic smile touched Annabelle Linton’s lips. "Stepmothers and stepfathers exist in this world. If a child’s biological parents die, do the legally recognized stepparents suddenly become their real parents?!"

William Chapman was rendered speechless.

Annabelle Linton gave a cool snap of her fingers. Instantly, a large group of men in black emerged from the crowd, handing out sheets of A4 paper to everyone in the hall.

Annabelle Linton took the documents she was holding and slammed them into William Chapman’s and Yvonne Miller’s faces. "Open your eyes and take a good look at who the Linton Group really belongs to!" she said coldly. "President Chapman, you’ve been in this position for so long you’ve gotten arrogant. Did you really think you could boss everyone around?!"

Dozens of pages slammed against their faces before fluttering to the ground, one after another.

William Chapman and Yvonne Miller flinched, their heads turning from the impact. Seeing the expressions on the faces of the guests, they suppressed their anger and instinctively picked up the documents from the floor.

A single glance was all it took. Their eyes widened in unison, flashing with sheer disbelief. As if reaching a sudden, terrible understanding, they both stumbled backward.

"Where did you get this agreement?!"

Annabelle Linton drew herself up, a disdainful smirk on her lips as she looked down upon them.

The document William Chapman and Yvonne Miller were looking at was none other than the agreement left behind by Master Linton!

In fact, after discovering this document, William Chapman had already destroyed it and fired Lawyer Ford.

He thought he had covered his tracks perfectly, leaving no trace behind, but he never imagined that Master Linton had actually made a backup!

"Have you taken a good look, President Chapman? The Linton family fortune has always belonged to the Linton family’s descendants. What right does someone with the surname Chapman have to squander it?

"My grandfather’s will states that in the event of an accident, I am to manage all his assets on his behalf. President Chapman, are you certain you’re still the one calling the shots at the Linton Group?"

Panic flashed in William Chapman’s eyes. With so many people present, he couldn’t afford to lose his temper. Instead, he put on the facade of a loving father and said, "Annabelle, Miller was right earlier. We’re a family. Why do we have to be so calculative about everything?

"I’ve said I won’t touch a single cent of Ryan’s money. I’m just keeping it safe for him. Why won’t you believe your father?

"Besides, about your grandfather’s wishes... the Linton Group doesn’t exist anymore, so what’s the point of Ryan inheriting it?"

Annabelle Linton watched the shamelessly adaptable man before her with a mocking expression.

’Miller?’

’Wasn’t he just calling her their mother a moment ago?’

’How does he change his tune so fast?’

’Right.’

’The Linton Group is gone now, but is William Chapman playing dumb, or does he genuinely not understand?’

’When the Linton Group existed, the fight was over succession rights. Now that it’s gone, the fight is for the remaining assets!’

’So he likes to pretend, does he?’

’Fine. Then we can all pretend together.’

Annabelle Linton’s lips twisted into a sneer. "A family? Who’s family with you people? When you betrayed my mother, why didn’t you stop to think about us being a family then?!

"Our entire lives, what have you ever done except dote on this homewrecking mistress and that bastard? Ryan and I are grown now—what have you ever given us?!"

"I..."

A flicker of shame crossed William Chapman’s face. He asked in a pained voice, "Annabelle, I’ve been busy with work all these years and haven’t been able to take care of you, but we are related by blood. Are you really going to disown your own father?"
