Remarriage Failed Again Today-Chapter 103: Defeat Them One by One
Early the next morning, Annabelle Linton went to the airport to pick someone up.
William Chapman had three trusted subordinates: Carla King, Landon Sheffield, and Jacob Jennings.
They managed finance, human resources, and technology, respectively.
On the surface, William Chapman was in charge of the Linton Group, but these three individuals held the real power. The rest of the employees were essentially a disorganized mob; these three were the key to the company.
If Annabelle Linton wanted to secure the acquisition of the Linton Group on the designated day, a single agreement wouldn’t be enough. She needed the help of these company veterans.
She had to win them over one by one and get them on her side.
Today, her target was Jacob Jennings, the head of the Human Resources department.
Annabelle Linton had done her research. Jacob Jennings was a famously devoted son. His elderly mother had a bad heart, but he was hesitant to risk putting her through surgery, a dilemma that caused him great distress.
Annabelle Linton’s mentor, Professor Smith, was the world’s foremost expert in the field. However, he was retired. Jacob Jennings had tried to hire him many times, but the professor always declined, citing his own health and an unwillingness to perform any more surgeries.
Recently, Jacob Jennings’s mother’s health had been failing rapidly. Annabelle Linton reached out to him, revealing that she was Professor Smith’s protégé and was willing to perform the surgery on his mother. The only condition was that he had to help her with the acquisition of the Linton Group.
Jacob Jennings agreed. It was a simple choice: trade a company on the brink of collapse for his mother’s life.
Everyone knew surgery carried risks; finding a more renowned expert was simply a way to improve the odds. But Annabelle Linton’s hand was injured, so she had asked Professor Smith to come.
He had initially been unwilling to come. But since Annabelle Linton was his most outstanding protégé, Professor Smith had made the trip.
An announcement for arriving first-class passengers echoed through the terminal. Annabelle Linton turned and saw Professor Smith emerging from the arrivals gate. 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞
He wore a double-breasted coat with exquisite dark gold embroidery. With his azure eyes, he immediately stood out from the crowd.
The world’s most renowned doctor. He was old, but he still had a commanding presence.
Annabelle Linton walked over to him, and they exchanged kisses on the cheek, greeting each other in English.
"Hello, Ann. It’s good to see you."
"It’s good to see you too. Welcome to Celestia. Thank you so much for making the trip, Professor Smith."
"There’s no need for formalities between us. How have you been?"
"I’m doing well, thank you. How are you and your wife?"
Professor Smith glanced at Annabelle’s hand. "We’re doing very well, thank you. But what’s the matter with your hand?"
Annabelle smiled faintly and said, "It’s nothing serious, not even worth mentioning. Thank you for your concern, Professor Smith. Let’s get to the car. We can talk on the way."
"Okay."
Once in the car, Annabelle briefly went over the case with Professor Smith—a coronary artery bypass. The professor had already reviewed the patient’s file, so he and Annabelle began discussing the surgical plan.
When they arrived at the hospital, they found Jacob Jennings pacing anxiously in front of the patient’s room. When he saw them, his face lit up as if he were looking at his saviors.
