Rejected by the Campus Belle, I Find My True Love-Chapter 283 - 281 I’m Very Expensive
"?"
Xue Yang looked at her as if she were a fool.
Hadn’t his rejections been obvious enough? Why was this girl still pestering him? It suddenly reminded him of how he used to be just like Cai Keke, always appearing before the person he liked, no matter how many times they rejected him. No wonder she’d always found him so disagreeable; it wasn’t without reason. If a door won’t open, it’s rude to keep knocking.
Xue Yang turned away. "Guo Dekun, Cai Keke says she needs tutoring. You’re up."
Guo Dekun had been listening to their conversation, and his heart sank when he heard Cai Keke ask Xue Yang to tutor her. He never imagined Xue Yang would pass up such an opportunity. But that was even better! This way, he’d have his chance, right?
Guo Dekun immediately slid over to Cai Keke’s side, shoving her deskmate, Cen Xue, out of the way. Cen Xue’s expression turned sour. She wanted to get angry, but seeing it was Guo Dekun, she swallowed her frustration. The guy was big and tall; she didn’t dare start a fight with him.
Guo Dekun did his best to make his smile seem less creepy. "Keke, you need tutoring? I’m here."
Cai Keke scooted away in disgust. "I don’t want your help. I want Xue Yang to tutor me."
Her gaze shifted to Xue Yang, who said calmly, "My tutoring is very expensive."
"Xue Yang, we’re all classmates," Cai Keke pressed. "Isn’t it a bit much to charge for helping out?"
"You’re right," Xue Yang agreed. "It is a bit much to charge a classmate for tutoring."
Hearing this, Cai Keke’s eyes lit up. Just as she thought. As long as I’m persistent enough, there’s no man I can’t conquer. Xue Yang will be in my grasp sooner or later.
"So," Xue Yang continued, "that’s all the more reason for me not to tutor you."
"Why?"
"Because I charge a fee, and it’s very expensive."
"You..." Cai Keke was about to explode with anger. Why is he so stubborn?
"Go get ’em, Kunkun!" Xue Yang patted Guo Dekun’s shoulder and walked out of the classroom.
"Xue Yang, don’t you dare leave!" Cai Keke shot up from her seat, stamping her foot furiously as she watched his retreating back.
Guo Dekun stepped in front of her, blocking her view. "Keke, let me tutor you! I’m great at math. I can definitely help."
Cai Keke shoved him away. "Get lost, Guo Dekun!"
"Keke, you... you touched me... hehehe! Keke, you finally touched me! I’m so happy!"
What a hopeless bootlicker. The voices faded as he walked away, and soon Xue Yang couldn’t hear them anymore. Besides, what did it have to do with him?
There was only one class in the afternoon. Afterward, Xue Yang headed to the Fashion Department.
Wei Shuyu spotted him and hurried out from their base. "President Xue, you’re here! Did you get the permit?"
Without the permit in hand, Wei Shuyu was constantly worried security would show up and make them pack everything away. While they hadn’t needed help setting up the basic structure, they had poured a massive amount of effort into the final arrangement. It would be a real shame if they were forced to tear it all down.
"I got it," Xue Yang said. "Are the stalls all set up?"
"Everything’s ready." Wei Shuyu then asked hesitantly, "But President Xue, are we really setting up a street stall?"
The stall was located in the corridor right in front of their base. The display spanned about twenty meters and was already adorned with Trendy Apparel’s signs and clothing collections from all eight seasons of the past two years. From a distance, it looked quite impressive.
Many students from other departments, drawn by the company’s reputation, came to have a look. However, only a few from the Fashion Department itself showed up. The rest, after hearing about Trendy Apparel’s plan, stayed away. Not only that, but they also started posting negative information about the company online. The university student population was vast, and online, many things tended to snowball into something much worse. This caused a chain reaction. Some who had arrived unaware of the situation also left after hearing other students talk about the "street stall incident."
"Of course," Xue Yang confirmed. "But we’re not displaying clothes. We’re displaying works of art."
"Huh?" Wei Shuyu was confused. Displaying works of art? What kind of art?
Xue Yang took out his phone and called Jennifer. "Jennifer, could you do me a favor?"
Jennifer had been monitoring their online data. Although offline sales were important, it was obvious that with the growing popularity of online shopping, the digital marketplace was even more crucial. Thanks to Wu Meiju’s meddling, many styles had sold out and hadn’t been restocked in time. They were currently rushing production, and Xue Yang had entrusted this task to Jennifer. Even though Trendy Apparel was short-staffed, Xue Yang was utilizing every single person to their fullest potential. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have resorted to relying on his department managers.
"President Xue, you don’t have to be so formal," Jennifer said warmly. "Just ask."
Xue Yang got straight to the point. "I need you to bring your old design sketches to the university to display at our stall."
"Is that all? No problem. I’ll have Xiang Qing bring them over."
Xiang Qing? The name didn’t ring a bell, but he replied, "Thanks a lot."
"Xue Yang, you... don’t you know Xiang Qing?"
"The name doesn’t ring a bell."
"That’s understandable, but I think you should get to know her."
"Why’s that?"
"Xiang Qing is one of our customer service representatives."
A customer service representative? It’s her! The young rep who contacted me online for image editing work. So her name was Xiang Qing.
"That’s right, it’s her."
After hanging up, Jennifer gathered her impressive collection of sketches and had Xiang Qing deliver them. Xiang Qing took the sketches, got into a company car, and headed for Yanbei University.
Half an hour later, she arrived. Xue Yang was already waiting for her at the entrance to the Fashion Department’s base.
This was the first time Xiang Qing had seen Xue Yang in person. She was astonished that the simple image editor she’d found online had now become the Executive Director of Trendy Apparel. Anything really could happen in this world.
"President Xue, here are the sketches Jennifer asked me to bring. She said they’re all here," Xiang Qing said, handing a large folder to Xue Yang.
"Thank you."
"It’s my pleasure. By the way, President Xue, how are you and your girlfriend doing?" Xiang Qing still had a vivid memory of the photo Xue Yang had once sent her of him with Lin Xi. She had never seen two people who looked so perfect for each other. She had wanted to meet them for a long time but never had the chance. When Jennifer asked her to deliver the documents, she jumped at the opportunity.
"She’s a senior in high school. Her college entrance exams are in three months."
Xiang Qing clasped her hands together, her eyes sparkling. "Is she planning to go to the same university as you? Wow, that’s so romantic!"
"I actually owe a lot of that to you."
"To me? How so?"
"It’s true. If you hadn’t fished me out online back then, I wouldn’t have even been able to afford food."
He’d spent all his money chasing Chen Ying and renting an apartment. If Trendy Apparel hadn’t hired him, he and Lin Xi really would have starved. If that had happened, Lin Xi might have had to go home early...
