Rejected by the Campus Belle, I Find My True Love-Chapter 264 - 262: Xue Yang, I Want to Keep a Cat
After seeing off Teacher Gong Lee, Xue Yang stood before the floor-to-ceiling window, gazing down at the scenery below. The rain had stopped, and from so high up, he couldn’t tell if the trees were budding, but he guessed they must be starting to.
By the time Xiao Naimao is back, they should have sprouted. The road home will look beautiful then.
What a pity it was only Monday.
Why are there still four days to go? Time is passing so slowly.
Xue Yang grumbled quietly, then pulled his gaze away and returned to his desk. Just then, his phone chimed.
He picked it up and saw a little cat icon. It was a WeChat message from Lin Xi.
"Xue Yang, it’s raining. Did you see it?"
"I did. It’s beautiful. When did you change your profile picture?"
Lin Xi’s previous profile picture had been a landscape photo. It showed a very large and extravagant house—the kind of luxury Xue Yang had never seen before—but it worked well as a profile picture.
"I just changed it. Do you like it? Si Wen found it for me. She said this cat looks a lot like me."
Xue Yang enlarged the profile picture. It was a small white cat with big, cute, sky-blue eyes. It was incredibly adorable and really did look a lot like her.
"You’re more beautiful."
Reading this, Lin Xi suddenly felt that all her recent hardships had been worth it.
"Xue Yang, I want to get a cat."
"Why the sudden desire to get a cat?"
Xue Yang found it strange. Lin Xi had never mentioned liking pets before. She’s already like a little animal herself.
"Because I think you must get bored when I’m not home, so I want to get a cat to keep you company in my place."
Bored? I’m barely home all day. If I get a cat, it would probably starve to death. But if I refuse my Xiao Naimao, will she start crying? I’m not by her side, so there would be no one there to comfort her.
After a moment’s thought, Xue Yang quickly typed a reply: "Let’s wait until you get to university. Otherwise, I won’t have enough time to spend with it. It would be more fitting for it to keep you company then."
"That makes sense. You get home so late, a little kitty all alone at home would definitely be scared at night."
A cat would be afraid of the night? It’s probably someone else who’s afraid of the night, right?
「Meanwhile, in the Harlow International School cafeteria.」
Si Wen grabbed Lin Xi’s hand. "How did it go? Did Xue Yang agree?"
"He said we should wait until I start university, otherwise he won’t have time to feed it. I think he’s right. A little kitty would be scared all alone at home. When I go to university, I can take care of it."
"That’s settled then," Si Wen said with a relieved, cheerful laugh.
"Si Wen, if you want a cat so badly, why don’t you get one yourself?"
At this, Si Wen looked frustrated. "You know my mom is allergic to cat fur. We were never allowed to have furry pets in the house when I was growing up. Otherwise, I would’ve gotten a cat long ago, you wouldn’t have even needed to ask!"
"You could keep it somewhere else, outside the house."
"Keeping it somewhere else is such a hassle."
"And keeping it at Xue Yang’s place isn’t?"
"Hey, why are you so against me keeping a cat at Xue Yang’s? Besides, it’s just a cat, not a person. What’s the big deal?"
"I’m just worried... the kitten is so cute. What if it steals Xue Yang’s affection? What would I do then?"
Lin Xi had also fallen in love with the cat at first sight and desperately wanted to adopt it, but...
"You’re getting jealous of a cat? Isn’t that a bit much?"
It did seem unreasonable, but Lin Xi replied earnestly, "It’s necessary. His eyes can only have me in them, nothing else."
"Relax, your Xue Yang loves you so much. Even if you got two more cats, they couldn’t steal his affection away."
"That won’t do," Lin Xi said suddenly, her expression serious.
"Didn’t Xue Yang already agree to getting a cat? Why are you still saying no?"
Lin Xi held up a single finger and declared, "We can have one at most. No more."
Si Wen was speechless and put a hand to her forehead. This girl’s world really does revolve around Xue Yang. She’s a lost cause.
「On Tuesday, the news that Trendy Apparel Company had established a studio in the Fashion Department of Yanbei University sparked a campus-wide discussion.」
"Have you heard? Trendy Apparel Company opened a studio at our school! They’re holding a fashion show before summer vacation."
"A fashion show? For real?"
"Of course it’s real! The posters are already out. If you don’t believe me, go check out the Fashion Department. Xue Yang looks so handsome on those posters! I hear it’s for their new summer collection, a retro style. I never knew a mix of retro and modern styles could look so good. It makes me want to buy some."
"Well, yeah. I heard their designers were hired from abroad, so of course the clothes they design are unique. Otherwise, they wouldn’t have captured such a huge market in Dragon Country in such a short time. It’s just a bit pricey, or I’d definitely buy some."
Hearing this, many people flocked to the Fashion Department to see for themselves. Mostly, they wanted to know if the legendary new summer collection was really as amazing as everyone claimed.
"Hang this banner right in the middle of the classroom doorway. The more conspicuous, the better."
Xue Yang stood at the entrance to the Entrepreneurship Room, watching as workers remodeled it. Jennifer was with him. Jennifer knew best when it came to the apparel company’s layout. Following his ideas was the right way to go. In fact, it was Jennifer who had just spoken.
"Don’t put that vase there; it belongs over there," Jennifer directed, bustling inside. This company would fall apart without me.
Just as Xue Yang was about to follow him inside, a familiar voice called out from behind.
"Xue Yang."
He turned and saw Gong Lee approaching. As always, she was dressed in crisp attire, her ear-length bob showcasing her competence. The affairs of the Fashion Department didn’t really concern her, but since Xue Yang was her student, she had decided to drop by.
"Teacher Gong, you’re here," Xue Yang greeted her.
"I came to see if there was anything I could help with, but it seems you don’t need me."
"Teacher Gong, please come in and have a seat."
Even though they were partners in this venture, Gong Lee was still his teacher.
Gong Lee glanced at the time, then at Xue Yang. "I can’t. I have a class soon, so I should get going. Maybe next time."
"Take care, Teacher."
Gong Lee gave Xue Yang one last look before turning to leave.
"Was that your teacher?" Jennifer asked, stepping out from inside just as she departed.
"Yeah. Why didn’t you invite her in?"
"She said she had a class soon."
Hearing this, Jennifer gave him a surprised look.
"Why are you looking at me like that?" Xue Yang asked.
"You just said she’s your teacher."
"She is. Wait..." A sudden realization dawned on Xue Yang. "We’ll talk later, I have to get to class!"
So that’s what it was! The look Teacher Gong gave me as she left... she was mentally calculating how late I was!
