Reincarnation Of The Legendary Sword Saint-Chapter 90: Unrestrained
They kept running deep into the forest.
Trees blurred past as the ground cracked beneath their feet. Then,
Kosan suddenly closed the distance, appearing beside Michael in a burst of heat.
"Hey," Kosan said, running effortlessly at his side, glancing over with a mocking smile. "Why are you running? Aren’t you going to stop?"
Michael didn’t answer.
Instead,
VROOOM!
His speed surged again, the air screaming as he pushed forward. The forest thinned rapidly, trees giving way to open land,
and then they burst into a vast, wide clearing.
Michael slowed to a stop.
Finally.
"This is good enough," he said calmly. "We’re here."
High above, unseen,
Rowan hovered in midair, completely concealed, watching silently from above. Untouchable. Invincible.
Michael lifted his massive sword and rested it casually on his shoulder.
"Well then," he said, eyes locking onto Kosan, "how should I kill you?"
He tilted his head slightly, as if genuinely thinking.
"You’ve caused far too much trouble. You need to be dealt with properly."
He paused, then smiled.
"Hmm... let me think. What’s the best way to end you?"
Kosan’s grin twitched.
"Oh," Michael continued lightly, "I know. I’ll just erase you completely."
Kosan’s eyes burned.
"Hey," he snapped. "What are you getting cocky for? Thinking you’re something you’re not is a huge mistake."
His aura surged violently.
"I could kill you right now."
Michael’s smile widened.
"Oh, really?" he said calmly. "Then I’d love to see you try."
His aura flared.
Thick, pure red energy erupted around Michael’s body, rolling outward like a storm.
At the same time,
Flames exploded around Kosan, wrapping his body in seething heat. His claws elongated, fire dripping from their edges as his presence grew heavier, more oppressive.
Without another word, both of them charged.
Kosan surged forward first, flames roaring as they wrapped around his body, claws blazing like molten steel.
Michael met him head on.
His aura exploded outward, thick red energy engulfing his entire body, flowing over his armor and pouring into his sword. He didn’t hesitate. He swung.
The blade tore through the air toward Kosan.
Kosan raised a single massive claw and blocked it.
BOOOOM!
An invisible shockwave detonated from the impact. A violent wind burst outward, trees bending and snapping as both combatants were hurled backward across the clearing.
Michael recovered instantly.
He stepped in again, and again, and again.
His sword flashed nonstop, relentless, each strike heavy enough to split the earth. Kosan braced himself, claws moving in rapid succession as he blocked every blow, sparks and flames exploding with each collision.
Steel and fire clashed continuously.
Then,
Something burst from the ground.
A living flame.
A writhing, humanoid fire construct lunged upward and seized Michael’s leg with burning hands.
Michael glanced down.
At that moment, Kosan leapt back, creating distance.
The flame creature detonated.
BOOOOM!
Fire swallowed the battlefield, erupting in every direction.
Smoke and embers filled the clearing.
Kosan turned his back, already walking away.
"Tsk. Truly shameful," he said coldly. "I expected more. Looks like that’s all you had."
Then,
A voice cut through the smoke.
"Is that really what you think?"
Kosan froze.
The flames parted.
Michael stood there calmly.
Unharmed.
Not a single scratch marred his armor. His sword rested casually at his side. His expression, amused.
"The battle isn’t over," Michael said.
Kosan’s eyes widened slightly.
"...Impossible."
Michael tilted his head, a faint smile forming.
"Not even a dent," he said. "Not on my armor. Not on me."
He tapped his chest lightly.
"This armor was forged from the strongest metal in the world. Your flames won’t burn it, at least, not at that level."
Kosan turned fully, staring at him now.
"...So you’re stronger than I thought," Kosan admitted.
Michael chuckled softly.
"Same to you," he replied. "I thought you were weaker."
Red aura rolled off him like heat waves.
"Looks like neither of us has gone all out yet," Michael continued. "Just warming up."
Kosan’s flames flared higher.
The ground cracked beneath his feet.
"...Good," Kosan said, baring his fangs. "Then let’s stop playing."
Kosan lifted both hands into the air.
Then he screamed.
Flames exploded outward.
A colossal surge of fire spiraled around his body, forming a roaring inferno like a living tornado. The heat alone scorched the land, trees igniting instantly, bark cracking and curling as they burned to ash.
The air itself warped.
Even Michael felt it.
He raised an arm, shielding his face as waves of pressure slammed into him.
"What the hell...?" he muttered.
Such aura.
Even the flames carried weight, crushing, suffocating.
Damn it... this really is something else.
Michael narrowed his eyes, watching carefully.
This is the first time I’ve ever faced a high ranking demon alone.
Usually it’s lesser demons. Normal ones.
But this.
From the aura alone, you can tell.
High ranking.
Should I strike now?
No... pointless.
He’s still releasing power. Interrupting him would be useless.
Michael inhaled slowly.
Then he raised his sword.
His eyes closed.
Once.
Twice.
He tapped the flat of the blade against his shoulder, steadying himself.
Then he lifted his left arm, bracing it against the elbow of his right.
"Full aura release," he said calmly.
His eyes snapped open.
Red energy erupted from his body.
It wasn’t just aura anymore. It roared, vibrating through the air like a living presence. It sounded as if the power itself was speaking, growling, announcing its existence.
The ground responded.
Rocks trembled.
Then lifted.
Pebbles, debris, shattered earth, all of it rose slowly into the air around Michael, suspended by sheer pressure.
The wind spiraled upward.
Michael began to rise as well, boots leaving the ground as his aura surged higher and higher.
Across from him, Kosan’s inferno howled louder.
They paused.
For a brief moment, both of them simply stared at each other.
Then Michael smiled.
In the next instant, he vanished.
The ground cracked as he burst forward at terrifying speed, blade raised high, red aura screaming around him as he closed the distance toward Kosan.
