Reincarnated With An SSS-Rank Talent In An Apocalyptic World-Chapter 97: Grade 2 Rift
Chapter 97: Grade 2 Rift
[95.3 The Lone Star Pulse – Texas Talk Hour]
HOST (Chuck):
"Now y’all better buckle up for this one, ’cause we’ve got a Texas-sized story for you this morning. The name Adam Black might’ve sounded like a whisper a few months back—but now it’s ringing through every Limitless channel in the country."
CO-HOST (Jess):
"That’s right, Chuck! Adam Black just made history—becoming the youngest Limitless Academy graduate in the world at just 19 years old. And get this—he only spent seven months at the academy before becoming a professional-grade Limitless. Seven months! Most folks can’t even accumulate a thousand contribution points in that time." ƒreeωebnovel.ƈom
CHUCK:
"But that’s not all. This kid didn’t just graduate—he helped lead efforts to retake Louisiana after the Rift Crisis. You remember that footage? Orcs everywhere—chaos. But Adam? He took on a full-grown orc berserker in a one-on-one fight... and won!"
JESS:
"That same war nearly cost him his life. A hit so brutal, it left him in a deep coma for six whole months. Doctors called it a miracle. But guess what?"
CHUCK:
"He’s awake. He’s back. And he’s already suited up to hit the field again. This ain’t just some headline hero—this is a real fighter. A survivor. And a damn inspiration."
JESS (smiling):
"Mark our words, Texas—mark ’em well. Adam Black isn’t just the next big Limitless in America... He might be the next big Limitless the world’s ever seen."
CHUCK:
"Remember the name. Adam. Freakin’. Black."

I turned off the radio and leaned back on the comfy leather seat with a deep frown while processing what I just heard. Apparently, the world believes I took a heavy hit which led to my near-death experience.
"Does this mean the Omen Pulse incident is hidden from the public?" I muttered thoughtfully. "But why?"
No matter how much I tried to wrap my head around it, I couldn’t come up with a good reason to hide the cause of my coma, especially since the rifts are a thing the world has grown accustomed to.
"Bro, your Wild Talent is probably the most overpowered talent in the world!" Jake’s glazing from the back seat made me roll my eyes.
When I told the agents I grew endlessly stronger through battles, they wouldn’t believe me, so I had to come up with a lie. By rebranding my Berserk talent, I was able to add in a few things to make it seem amazing.
I told them the talent was named [Wild] and with each battle, I gained strength—even if only a little. I used this to explain my eagerness to join raids and made it my reason for joining the war.
Which made sense.
Did such a talent exist?
No, but I could grow stronger. The truth doesn’t matter.
At this point, I noticed Mandy stealing glances at me in her usual fashion, and I let out a sigh. Six months in a coma hadn’t changed anything about her.
"Do you have something to say?" I raised an eyebrow, and she quickly looked away, avoiding eye contact.
However, seconds later, she timidly returned her gaze to me before speaking.
"I don’t know if it’s appropriate to share this with you now, but that girl that likes you started dating a really popular Limitless three months ago..." Mandy said, while her eyes searched my facial expression as if there were answers to the world’s problems on my face.
My eyebrows remained raised as I gave her the "So?"
"And?"
Skrrrrr!
The car skidded to the side, but Mandy quickly regained control of it. While her eyes were on the road, I could see the shock in them. She was finding it hard to process that not everything is centered around love and relationships.
I’m guessing a lot of women have been wired to think this way—and honestly, I used to think that way too. But now, even family didn’t mean shit to me.
"Once I head into the rift, head over to my new home, get some furniture. I’ll leave the decoration to you," I said to Jake while pulling out my phone and dormitory room keycard, along with my school ID card.
"Once that’s done, head to the academy and move all my things," I said while handing over those items to Jake before adding, "You two should move in too."
"Understood!" Jake yelled with excitement, while Mandy just nodded in silence.
We followed the agents’ black jeep to the edge of Cedar Hill and upon arrival, I could already feel the atmosphere change. The air was heavy, and it was unnaturally windy.
From a distance, there were civilians barricaded to the sidewalks who seemed more anxious than motivated. The terror of Louisiana was still fresh on everyone’s mind and they feared the same would repeat itself here.
"What grade is this rift?" I couldn’t help but ask.
"Grade 2!" Jake responded quickly, and I nodded.
According to my knowledge, rifts were graded into four levels based on their color, which determines the strength of the realm.
Purple, Blue, Orange, and Red.
Using my knowledge of the realms, I tried to fit them together and unsurprisingly they fit perfectly.
Purple → Dying realm
Blue → Living realm
Orange → Dynamic realm
Red → Peak realm
The gate that led us to Nightfall Dominion territory was purple, meaning the rift we were about to enter this time would be blue—meaning this was a world with mixed races and thriving cultures, unlike my first territory.
But this also meant the danger was much higher here.
"Perfect." I grinned.
Ding!
[New Mission Acquired]
[Conquer this new territory and make it yours.]

Minutes later, we drove past the iron barricade used to seal the rift area and stopped. The rift was not yet in sight, but everything was dyed in an azure light.
As soon as I stepped out of the car, I could hear a loud cheer from the barricades. Civilians already had placards bearing my name while a few news stations had their cameras rolling.
"I’m guessing the agents had something to do with this." I muttered.
I could already picture the headlines:
Patron Saint of America: The youngest professional Limitless, hospitalized for six months, joins rift raid to protect Texas just hours after regaining consciousness.
That kind of bullshit.
Jake exited the car and draped my black leather trench coat over my shoulders before whispering into my ear.
"They’re your fans. You should wave." He advised, but I just shrugged him off and turned to the approaching agents.
"Ready?" Ray asked, and I nodded.
With that, Agents Ray and Johnson led Jake and I towards the rift. A few minutes in, the buzzing sound of the rift could be heard, and I could see military support units lined up with supply backpacks in hand.
There was a small team of fifty Ascendants with them, armed to the teeth—and leading them were two unfamiliar faces and...
"Kenza?" I called out in surprise and heads snapped in my direction.
Kenza gazed at me with her eyes dilated due to shock.
"Adam..." she gasped.
