Reincarnated With An SSS-Rank Talent In An Apocalyptic World-Chapter 69: A New Rival
Chapter 69: A New Rival
It’s crazy to think Texas had an S-rated Limitless with so many achievements at a young age, yet I didn’t know a thing about him.
In fact, I was certain most people from Texas knew little about him, especially since I can’t find him in the original Adam Black’s memories.
However, thinking about it now, it made a lot of sense. After graduation, there are two career paths—you can either work for a Limitless agency or work for the government.
People like Professor Lenot, popularly known as God Eyes, work for the government and, by default, are part of the military. He is promoted at any given opportunity, but he only has an A-grade talent.
The same goes for the late Viktor, popularly known as the Iron Marshal. He was a household name, known and loved by all, but he was merely a B-rated Limitless with a B-grade talent.
The more I realized how badly the government treated Limitless who refuse to be their pawns, the more I understood why the Watchers exist.
Swish!
I was snapped out of my reverie by the souls of scorching miniature suns hurling toward me.
"Okay, Mr. World Class, I’ll take you seriously!" I snarled—but I didn’t attempt to dodge.
I casually stretched out my hand and waited patiently until the miniature suns were close enough.
DOOOR!
The space in front of me tore open, swallowing all their suns and snapping shut.
Buzz!
"What just happened?" The question came from the sidelines.
It was William, blinking in confusion and disbelief, just like Dayvon. He glanced at his palms with knitted eyebrows, as if the answers to his questions were written on them.
"I can’t feel it... It’s like they vanished from this world," he muttered, looking more stunned than terrified.
His head snapped up to meet my gaze, and an approving smile stretched across his lips.
"What an interesting talent... I’ll take it for myself!" he snarled as the green vine sigil glowed brightly and he stretched his hand toward me.
Ding!

[Envy Sigil Blocked by Gatekeeper Talent!]
"What?" Dayvon’s gasp drew my attention.
"Why is it not working?" he muttered in shock, almost forgetting I was standing there.
At first, I was a bit taken aback by everything happening, but then I remembered who I was—a Gatekeeper. No matter how powerful a Limitless is, they can never compare to me!
"Door!"
I yelled as white smoke exploded from my body, and a massive white gate appeared behind me, its doors swinging open with a loud bang!
"Don’t die on me!" I hissed as my eyes turned pitch black and Rai’ki flew into my hands.
Swoosh!
Three miniature suns shot out of the gate, speeding toward Dayvon—and I chased after them, trailing closely behind. I expected Dayvon to dodge, but when he saw me, he simply stood there, glaring with contempt.
"DIE THEN!" I bellowed.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
"Die!" I roared as I sped into the flames, slashing hard through the fire!
Peng!
Bam!
I hit the ground hard, rolling a couple of times before jumping back to my feet.
"What the hell?" I gasped, looking at my torn palm, bleeding profusely.
I was sure my attacks hit Dayvon—yet it felt like I tried to stab a truck at high speed and it backfired horribly.
Shifting my gaze from my bloodied palm, I frowned at the sight before me. Dayvon stood like an immovable mountain, looking over his shoulder, his gaze pinned on me as glowing golden lines etched across his chest, back, and neck like divine chains.

Imposes an impenetrable barrier around the user.
Defense stat temporarily multiplies ×10. Physical and magical attacks below a certain threshold are nullified.
The system description left me stunned, and I looked up again to see the contemptuous look in Dayvon’s eyes.
"You are good, but you are far from being able to hurt me," the bastard said to me.
"Bastard!" I cursed under my breath as I slowly rose to my feet.
Never have I allowed anyone to look down on me, especially since I came to this world. I didn’t become a Gatekeeper just for a human to look down on me.
No one here has seen what my Berserk Mode is like, so I planned to show them something beyond Berserk Mode.
Even if I have to cheat to win... it doesn’t matter.
"ALL THAT MATTERS IS I WINNN!"
BOOOM!
The ground sank under my weight as black fumes exploded from my body, causing my hair to shoot toward the sky. Simultaneously, a burning red light shone like a dot within a swirling body of darkness in my eyes, causing red and black cracks to spread across my eyelids.

The golden glow from Dayvon faded as he turned to face me, his eyebrows knitted. This man was not just strong—he was perceptive too, and instantly realized things were about to get nasty.
"You finally show me your full power," Dayvon said as he pulled out a rubber band from his pocket and calmly tied his hair. "It doesn’t matter anyway. Defeat is certain," he added.
"I am Adam Black... That name will never know defeat!" I declared as I entered a fighting stance.
"That’s enough!" William yelled from the side—but it was Pamela who popped up from the ground, standing between us with her hands raised on both sides.
"That’s enough!" she repeated with a stern look. "This is a spar, not a death match... Save this hostility for the real enemy, not each other!"
Hearing this, I frowned, but I didn’t push the matter further. Dayvon, on the other hand, shrugged with a look of indifference, but his eyes never left me.
Ignoring his gaze, I picked Rai’ki from the ground—however, just when I was about to put it away, Dayvon said something that pissed me off.
"Saved by the bell... You’re lucky they stepped in to save your ass."
Splash!
Pamela stepped back with a horrified look and Natasha screamed from the side as blood splattered to the ground in large quantity.
Dayvon was internally shook as he saw a good portion of my wrist had been cut, dangling loosely and only held by a few strings of flesh!
I had nearly cut my wrist off!
Raising that hand, everyone watched in shock as the wound healed at a rapid pace, reattaching my hand completely in mere seconds.
"You ain’t shit, boy," I hissed, my tone filled with disdain. "When next we cross paths... I’ll do things to you that’ll break your father’s heart."
Snap!
Buzz!
My massive white door appeared behind me in an instant, and I shifted my attention to Pamela.
"I’m done with this shit show... I’m heading back now."
Without waiting for a response, I turned around and walked in, ignoring their calls as the doors of my gate slammed shut behind me.

– Academy Dormitory –
Seconds later, I walked out the second door—into my dormitory room. Just a few hours ago, I had washed myself up and was in a good mood.
I would have been enjoying a good night’s sleep, but I was dragged out under the pretense of planning for Louisiana, just to get insulted by a child!
"He’s strong, though," I had to admit, even though it came out reluctantly. "I’ll make that power mine someday."
