Reincarnated With a SSS-Rank Hypnosis Skill in Another World-Chapter 34 - An Annoying Intervenance
It was just like I had thought.
The God of Poison. He was more spiteful than I had expected. He was already using his powers to annoy me. In the blink of an eye, the fight who had been completely free for me to win became extremely hard. I could no longer do as I wished, especially since I wouldn’t be able to anticipate his spells.
But what was so strange about all this was that Vex himself seemed confused, unsure what was happening to his body.
He clutched his head with both hands. "What the hell is happening?! WHO ARE YOU!"
He screamed his lungs out, so much that even the crowd began confused at to what was happening. The amount of poison and mana coming off from Vex’s body was reaching a ridiculous level. It was nothing that a 3rd Mana Circle Mage could summon. The amount of mana currently coming out of his body could easily rival the amount that a Peak 4th Mana Circle Mage could use.
I strengthened the hold of my dagger as I tried to think of another way to get close range.
That was the key to my whole fighting style. I had no choice but to do such a thing. It wasn’t Vex anymore.
His eyes, once sharp and full of pride, had turned an eerie, toxic green—no whites left, no soul behind them. Veins pulsed violently across his skin, swollen and blackened, as if his blood had become venom. He thrashed and screamed, clutching his head as the poison twisted him into a vessel for something else.
No... for someone else.
The God of Poison.
I could feel it. That foreign presence, invisible yet undeniable, anchoring itself to Vex’s core like a puppeteer yanking on threads. His screams weren’t just in pain—they were in protest.
He didn’t want this either.
But I couldn’t afford pity. Not when the ground beneath him began to rot, stone turning to sludge. The very air hissed with toxicity, turning dense and suffocating. Even from meters away, it felt like acid seeping through my pores.
The crowd gasped in unison. A few began to scream. Even the barrier that separated us from the spectators flickered under the oppressive magic.
This wasn’t a duel anymore. This was a descent.
"He’s being possessed..."
I clenched my dagger tighter. It was my only lifeline. No sword, no spell would let me reach him without risking immediate death. I couldn’t predict his movements anymore, couldn’t hear his heartbeat like before. My entire sensory advantage was gone.
But that didn’t mean I was helpless.
Vex—no, the god inside him—looked up, locking eyes with me. That smile... it wasn’t his. It dripped of ancient arrogance.
"You really thought you could deny me?" the voice said.
It echoed not from Vex’s throat, but from everywhere at once—inside the arena, in my mind, in the sky above. A divine voice, ancient and foul.
"You threatened me," I spat. "Now you’re cheating."
"You dared to harm my vessel."
I didn’t respond.
There was no point arguing with a god.
The monster lunged. It wasn’t teleportation, it was corruption—the ground launched him forward like a cannon, and I only just managed to Blink away in time, appearing behind him, slashing at his back—
—but he turned without moving, his arm already rising.
How?! 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂
A wall of green mist erupted from his body, catching me mid-slash. I tried to leap back but it clung to my skin like tar. My eyes burned. My muscles locked.
[Poison Status: Crippling Affliction. Duration: 10 seconds.]
[You are currently being observed by a Divine Entity.]
I fell to one knee, coughing, eyes stinging so badly I couldn’t keep them open. My skin bubbled. The pain was unbearable.
And yet...
This is fine.
I had prepared for this.
One shot.
I reached into my pocket and pulled out the emergency vial: a gift from the alchemist, a rare, temporary cure for poison so potent that it could purge divine afflictions for mere moments.
I had gotten it as soon as I learned of my opponent. I knew that it could come in handy at any given moment and right now was one of those moments.
I drank it without hesitation.
[You have gained 5 seconds of Poison Immunity.]
I Blinked.
Straight into the mist.
He didn’t expect it.
My blade struck.
A deep gash tore across Vex’s abdomen. Blood—black and steaming—poured out, and for a second, his expression returned. His eyes widened. He looked terrified.
"Help me," he whispered.
I couldn’t.
The god roared, and Vex’s body spasmed violently.
His arms flailed in unnatural angles. Spikes of hardened toxin jutted from his shoulders and elbows like monstrous armor. He screamed again and charged.
I only had seconds.
I dodged left. Barely.
The dagger moved on instinct.
I cut into his leg. Deep. Tendons severed.
He stumbled, falling hard—but not beaten.
Poison erupted from the ground like geysers. One scraped my shoulder. My vision blurred.
I screamed.
Everything burned.
But I didn’t fall.
I couldn’t fall.
I activated Last Stand.
I had no choice but to use it. I was against a God. I needed to use everything at my disposition or I would fall.
A red aura burst from my chest. It slowed my pulse. Reduced the pain. Gave me just enough clarity to rise, step forward—
—and plunge the dagger straight into his chest.
The God shrieked.
It wasn’t Vex’s scream.
It was something far older, far greater. The air trembled. The earth cracked.
"NO!"
But it was too late.
The blood dagger wasn’t just sharp—it was sacred.
A weapon that, even unknowingly, cut through gods.
Vex collapsed.
The mist dispersed in a snap.
I stood over him, breath ragged, body torn and ruined, but alive.
And he—he was unconscious. Still breathing. The poison receding.
[Quest Complete: Defeat Vex Snider who is currently receiving help from the God of Poison.]
[Rewards: Unknown.]
I stared up, feeling the weight of unseen eyes vanish.
The pressure lifted.
Cheers erupted in the crowd, but I could barely hear them.
My eyes stayed fixed on the new message blinking before me:
[The Unknown Reward is...]
But before I could even see what it was... I lost all consciousness.
