Reincarnated in the Alternate World, I'm A Demonic Lord as Well as a Villager-Chapter 619 - 317: Kidnapping Santa Claus (Part 2)
Santa Claus sat at an interrogation table, his hands placed atop it shackled with silver bracelets, fearfully glancing around. When he saw Shami enter, he hurriedly clarified.
"Mr. Demon King, we Santas uphold professional ethics, we don’t take things randomly, nor do we divulge house information to others."
Shami remained silent, sitting opposite Santa Claus, slowly winding up the clock and then placing it on the interrogation table.
"What exactly are you? Speak up. If you don’t before the clock rings, your head’s moving elsewhere."
Santa’s eyes widened, crying out in fright.
"Crying? Crying counts against time too."
Shami said leisurely, not in the least bit hurried.
Santa was utterly panicked.
"As you can see, I’m Santa Claus, Mr. Demon King..."
"Santa Claus really exists?"
"Hmm. Of course, otherwise why would there be legends of good children receiving gifts from Santa on Christmas Eve?"
Who knew you’d come for real!
Though Shami remained silent, he no longer dared to underestimate any legend on this continent.
"Continue with your identity story."
"Me? Actually, we Santas live in the Northern Lands. Deep in the Northern Lands is a small village, covered in snow all year, surrounded by glacial mountain ranges, that’s where I and other Santas reside."
"Santa Claus is actually a profession?"
"Consider it a duty. The entire village’s elders bear the responsibility of distributing gifts all across the Aireland Continent on Christmas Eve. Though our reindeers are trained to fly and pull sleds to and from the Northern Lands, the Aireland Continent is just too vast. Many times, we have to set off a month early to deliver gifts on Christmas Eve itself. We’re either on the sleigh with noses reddened by the cold wind, or asking shopkeepers for discounts while picking out gifts in stores."
Santa’s eyes teared up as he began to complain.
"Speaking of gift-giving, taking care of reindeer is a tough task. Although flying in the sky seems glamorous, we’re just old folks with brittle bones. Every day, we have to take the reindeer out for walks and tend to their needs... It’s freezing, and the Northern Lands is just snow upon snow, like another world entirely. Even the Snow Woman race couldn’t bear it and migrated south."
Shami shared some empathy, then regained a serious demeanor.
"Every job has its challenges, just like being a Demon King isn’t easy. — How did you enter the Demon Realm? There’s a magic shield around it."
Santa Claus gave a proud grin.
"Anywhere that’s imbued with magic, we Santas can come and go freely."
Shami was astonished, immediately thinking of the Magic Goddess.
"Our village was created by the Magic Goddess, and the duty we shoulder was bestowed by her. So, the Magic Goddess granted us the power to move freely across every corner of the Aireland Continent — certainly, only on Christmas Eve can we do that."
Upon Santa’s explanation, Shami immediately understood. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦
Indeed, Christmas does have some connection to the Magic Goddess.
No wonder the Demon Realm’s barriers didn’t react at all.
The magic shield designed by the Magical Girl naturally wouldn’t work against Santa Claus who had been granted boundary access by the Magic Goddess.
The shield must have mistaken Santa for a magic power fluctuation and simply ignored it.
As Santa explained, Shami gradually became interested in this creature known as Santa Claus.
"As long as they’re good children, Santa Claus will certainly deliver a gift to their hands."
Santa Claus proudly lifted his long beard.
Shami pondered for a moment, remembering that Santa had come here to deliver gifts to four girls.
Currently, the Demon King Castle had four girls, plus one who alternated between being a girl and a skeleton, Schrödinger’s bone frame.
"You mean Lureya and the others are good kids?"
"Yes, there’s a good child here, named something like Lureya with a string of confusing names. And Lina, Saili, Elze? If I’m not wrong. We can see the precise location of every child who needs a gift on this good child list."
Santa took out a holographic list from his pocket, which Shami eyed over. The list was like a map that could be zoomed in and out. It had four glowing spots that, when analyzed, clearly corresponded to the four Demon Envoys’ bedrooms.
"Aren’t they already Demon Envoys! How can they possibly count as good kids!"
Shami couldn’t help but retort.
"The Magic Goddess doesn’t lie. She has ample reasons for her choices."
Santa looked down at the list returned by Shami, and it began to gently emit an energy that traced words.
"Lureya, during her recent strolls through human cities like Kafei in the Aoja Kingdom, dared to help elderly ladies cross the street. Appraised as: A kind good child who doesn’t fear losing money."
"No wonder she’s an Elf, daring to do what ordinary folks wouldn’t. Now I know flat-haired golden boy has been slacking off in the Aoja Kingdom."
"Lina, often helps in human villages to harvest crops from fields. Appraised as: A hard-working good child who loves life."
"Not potentially scouting for invading the farms next time? Show me the full picture here!"
"Elze, in her role as a master thief, braves dangers to infiltrate wealthy homes and steal treasures, using part of them to buy food to feed stray cats and dogs. Appraised as: A gentle good child confronting darkness."
"This should qualify her as a good neighbor Spider-Man type character instead of a good child!"
"Saili, my favorite Magical Girl. Appraised as: A good child with a resemblance to the former Magic Goddess."
"Now, this time, the Magic Goddess isn’t even pretending! Just personally favoring whoever she likes as a good child!"
Shami couldn’t help but stand up, slamming the table, startling Santa.
"Mr. Demon King...can we be a bit more gentle...?"
Shami slowly sat back down, his anger gradually dissipating, folding his arms.
"If Demon Envoys can receive Christmas gifts, then I should too, right? After all, I’ve been looking after so many creatures, supporting thousands of lives."
Shami acted as though he didn’t care while watching Santa.
Santa’s face began to gradually sweat.
Why was this guy getting competitive here? He’s a Demon King!
"Ah...no, Mr. Demon King, there’s no mention. The gift list only contains the names of the four girls, not yours. Moreover, it’s not a tradition for Santa to deliver Christmas Eve gifts to demons."
"Impossible!"
Shami found it unacceptable.
Clearly, he was much more pure-hearted than the four Demon Envoys, so why wasn’t he receiving a gift!
[The Transmigrator from the Outerworld insisting on experiencing gift-giving on Christmas Eve!]
"You’d better think carefully?"
Shami murmured, staring at Santa.
Santa was drenched in sweat. But if there’s nothing, there’s nothing.
The old man could only look down at the shining long list.
"Then I’ll take another look...?"
"Look closely, don’t overlook anything!"
Shami sternly warned.
Santa examined the list closely, which mostly marked the destinations each Santa needed to deliver gifts to, almost with no extra information.
Santa quickly peeked at Shami.
An immensely gloomy end-of-the-world face from the Demon King.
Santa hurriedly lowered his head.
He scanned through the list and soon reached the final notice section, where a string of notice texts composed of energy light particles had the last line deepened in color.
"Got it, got it! Found something about Mr. Demon King here at the end of the notices. These notices are personally conveyed by the holy will of the Magic Goddess."
Excited, Shami peered in, and he and Santa saw the last item on the notice section together.
[Note: No gifts for naughty Demon Kings oh boo~]
There was a sense of being preemptively defeated.
Shami limply sank into his chair, blankly staring at the ceiling for a while, as countless bad memories of the Magic Goddess exposing his privacy flooded his mind, his hands gradually clenched into fists.
"I must get rid of that accursed Magic Goddess!"
Shami’s roar echoed within the well-soundproofed interrogation room.
Santa trembled in fear.
"As expected of the Demon King...still filled with malice and intent to slaughter...how could the Magic Goddess possibly give gifts to someone so wicked on Christmas Eve..."
