Reincarnated as the fourth son of a noble and tamed an SS-rank dragon-Chapter 56: Selection
In the Capital arena, many people were standing in a long queue, the adventurers hired by Darius were carrying out the tests, but they were using golems, as this would make the test easier.
Kaly had sent a clone for the summoning and she went to the arena to help with the tests, as there were so many people signed up, she wanted to help with the golems.
Several golems were created, Zai and Ori were in charge of the sword test, each checking two at a time and giving a score from 0 to 10 for each skill, such as stance, technique, strength, and endurance. The golem dueling with them also gave a score, and the final score was the average of both scores.
Sene and Cayena were in the magic exam, they assessed the magical strength and spells they used. The golems received the magic and gave a grade.
Celene was in charge of the archers, the targets were always recovered with magic and they received a mark based on the hit, they had to hit specific marks and each mark was worth a different score, they received a random number and had to hit values that together added up to the number drawn.
If they didn’t get the correct score but were close, a score was given.
In addition to the score, accuracy, and strength were calculated to determine the best.
Kaly used only golems to determine the best spearmen.
The sixteen best would be chosen for each category and in three days the winners would be decided.
The easiest category was archer, as all sixteen could take part together, and in a few challenges, the winners would be chosen.
When they were evaluating the competitors, they chose their favorites, who were the ones who demonstrated some above-average skill.
Like swordsmen who managed to destroy the golems or different spells. These people had a better chance of being hired even if they weren’t in the top four.
Some were complaining about the delay, and these were the worst, they managed to get such low marks that the evaluators started talking out loud.
Kaly was having fun, she was making it a little harder for the people who complained.
A young blue-haired girl caught everyone’s attention, as she had entered all the categories. She managed to pass in magic and swords, in archery, she almost passed, but in spear, she was a little far off.
But she showed her ability in all four categories.
At the end of the day, they announced who had passed.
These people could sleep in the dormitories in the arena if they wanted to, it would be free for the competitors. So those in hostels took up the offer.
The choice of competitors was a little difficult to make due to the number of competitors, but the golems helped to give an opinion-free grade. Because when human evaluators have to give a grade, it’s totally arbitrary.
Darius was satisfied with the choice, so he didn’t want to interfere and nothing was changed afterward.
Lucian didn’t like being left out, but he was too busy and anyway, he couldn’t go and watch or give his opinion.
He wouldn’t be technical and could be impressed by anyone, so he would be a bad judge.
Now they had to wait five days for the competition.
At the mansion, Lucian once again showed his displeasure, but that was all, the choice was already made and they couldn’t change anything. Orphelia said that Lucian should accept it because more qualified people were judging, so he shouldn’t worry about these choices.
She softened her words, but he felt offended.
Amanda was laughing at the situation. Her belly was getting bigger and bigger and her breasts more and more voluminous, she somehow looked much more attractive in Darius’ eyes.
Mothers have their charms.
The adventurers who were serving as judges wanted to take part because of the prize, but they didn’t want to join an army, they were satisfied with their current job because it provided security.
Darius felt bad about not giving them the opportunity to sign up, so he ordered weapons for Shiva.
The next day, the sky was orange, and the whole continent saw it that way, the Demon Lord’s attack began, Darius wanted to collect some items, but Kaly said they could go later, first they should let the Kingdom take care of the attack and at another time they could help and collect the items to sell.
Elara still owed them, the 5,000 demon corpses would be worth a lot, but she was selling the weapons little by little, it would be risky to sell everything at once and have someone find out that a group of three people had managed to defeat so many demons.
Even so, selling a single weapon already aroused suspicion, but she was able to sell at the black market, which was in a part of the Capital, its entrance was through a shoe store, the market operated underground and whenever there was any suspicion, magic was activated that made the underground disappear. In fact, it was still there, but the entrance was gone, so they were never caught.
Another form of protection was to work on different days and without a pattern, so they could always work.
Even with the password, they recognized guards and people who could snitch, so entry was controlled.
With the new King, this stopped, he saw no reason to control the market, since they only sold items, if they sold people he would take action.
Sometimes he would send out a few rounds just to show that he was doing something, but the people in charge knew that this would lead to nothing.
That’s why the market was expanding and it was easier to sell anything there.
Elara was taking advantage of this to get more money, she didn’t buy the bodies for the Guild, she bought them so she could keep the profit, so it wasn’t seen as wrong, at least considering her position in the Guild.
Some soldiers were on the border of Solsticea, they feared the worst, so it was likely that the demons would destroy the whole country and then move on to the others.
Solsticea bordered the Empire and a country called the Nation of Draven, a theocratic nation that followed the god of creation. The leader was always the current leader of the Church, who was given the title of High Priest.
In Velmont there is a Church, but it is more general and believes in all 33 gods. The High Priest only has power in the Church, he is forbidden to have political influence, this was the way devised to avoid religious problems.
The soldiers were on the border and at any sign of danger they were supposed to attack and protect their country’s territory.
Another country that was on the lookout was the Merch Empire, they knew they could be asked for help, the country was run by a mercenary who had inherited the throne from his grandfather. He carried out a coup d’état and began to rule the country and gradually they became the Kingdom of the Mercenaries.
The second country to watch out for was the Military Empire, they didn’t border Solsticea, but they were close to the two countries that do.
Darius was watching the sky.
"The color is beautiful, isn’t it?"
"The only thing beautiful here is you."
"What?"
"I’m joking, you don’t have to look like that," he said when he realized that Nyme was flustered.
"All right, but do you really think so?"
Before he could answer, they were both called away.
They entered the factory and started work, with the war they would have more demand and with it more influence, at least that was to be expected with the increase in demand and people realizing that they were needed.
Darius was planning other dishes to introduce into the diet, but he was still unsure of what he could offer, so for the time being he would only be serving hamburger varieties.
Nyme was at a loss, but she tried not to care and to think about what she had just heard; she liked him, but she didn’t know if he felt the same way.
Kaly hadn’t noticed anything until this moment, she was watching Nyme and smelling the scent she was giving off, her sense of smell was very acute and she could smell hormones, so she knew that what Nyme was feeling was arousal.
Darius didn’t smell these things, but his sense of smell was keen enough to smell what his mother smelled in the morning, a pleasant smell that somehow brought comfort.
The smell was a mixture of bodily fluids released during sex.
His sense of smell improved after the pact. It was common for the tamer and the tamed to share certain characteristics, such as magic and physical features, so it was easier for Kaly to hide his wings and other dragon parts.
Dragons usually stay in their humanoid form, they have tails and wings and some have horn-like structures.
So no one disagrees that Kaly is a human.
