Chapter 10: Rebellion Against Gods

Chapter 10

It wasn't just the scent of blood; there was actual blood by the sides of the lake, and it was slowly flowing into the water. There weren't any bodies around, but she wasn't sure anyone would be able to last longer after losing such amounts of blood.

What's more, the trace stopped there entirely as there wasn't anything left for her to discern where the injured person could have run off to.

" Darn it, I need to find those kids as soon as possible." She thought, quickly running forward.

She searched the entire woods for as long and as much as she could, but there wasn't anything else she could find other than the blood that had been left by the side of the lake.

She was also standing in the middle of an open field that had occurred obviously unnaturally. But she didn't think much of it considering the fact that it could have been done by anyone with the amount of disrupted external energy she was feeling.

But there was still a chance that it could have something to do with them going missing, thus leaving her confused about what to do next at that point.

The kids couldn't be at home without their mom knowing and there wasn't any reason for her teacher to lie to her. She wasn't starting to get worried that something might have happened to them, and she had to do something about it.

Slowly, she reached into her pocket and proceeded to bring out her cell phone when a rift suddenly appeared right in front of her.

It was a dark, shifting void; as it slowly opened up, a bright light erupted from within it, prompting her to immediately close her eyes.

The light quickly faded as it appeared, and when she opened her eyes, she found a human-like figure lying on the ground before her. Whatever it was had pale dark skin and fingers that sunk deep into the ground.

" This just keeps getting even more complicated." She thought, staring at the figure with concern in her eyes, "How could it have ended up here?"

Still, deep in thought, she turned around to look around the place, and as far as her gaze could go, there were only trees around her.

She quickly turned back her gaze to the wounded creature lying on the ground just before her, and after staring at it for a while longer proceeded to slowly unsheathe her sword.

" Please... Please don't kill me." He mumbled with a slight grunt, prompting her to quickly step back, " My sister, please... help me find her."

Earlier while Megumi had been standing at the same spot, the void appeared, and rather than push out some random creature, it caused a suction that took everything around it with such great force.

He was dragged into the void along with Yuki and everyone else close to them. Darkness eroded slowly eroded their gazes until there was nothing left in sight but emptiness.

It felt like his mind went numb as soon as he crossed the void. A distant thought of emptiness suddenly fueled him and he couldn't try to think what could be the cause of it.

Could everything that had happened have been an illusion, or was he just dreaming till this point? *Sigh* his thoughts continued to leave him with each passing second until he could only close his eyes in well-concealed despair.

If this was going to be his end, then he was prepared to gladly accept it, after all, there wasn't anything in this new world worth clinging to anyway. It may have been a second chance, but he still had to take his chances either way.

And just as he was finally drenched in complete darkness, a dim light suddenly began to shine upon him, prompting his gaze once more. It seemed very much like a dream as the view of a rainbow went across the sky.

A gentle breeze slowly blew across his face, and he slowly opened his eyes to see that he was standing by the shore of a large sea. The tides were low, and the air cold, and as far as his eyes could go, there was no one else at the beach other than him.

With the few seconds he stood there watching, he noticed as the tides rose once again and night dawned on him. The came the morning, the cold air that continued to freeze him, and the large sea before him that continued to increase and decrease in size with each passing moment.

The speeding flow of time suddenly stopped, and out of nowhere, he saw a group of people coming to see, all dressed in beach outfits. The air was suddenly warm, and he could feel himself burning up rather than freezing.

None of them looked his way as they all went playing by the sea, and even at that point, he couldn't figure out what could be happening. He was experiencing the sped-up flow of time just now, so why did it suddenly slow down?

Right before him, everything changed completely; a Cliff appeared just about fifty meters away from the now-shrunken body of water. Beneath it was a road that had been covered up by the crumbling walls of the Cliff, and just behind it were very tall mountains.

And while he was too invested in his gaze at the suddenly appearing wonderful sights before him, the reversing flow of time suddenly continued once again.

This time, settlements appeared right before him, along with a soldier camp with many soldiers marching along the way. They all held their spears upwards, while their superiors stood watching with their swords sheated by their waists.

From time to time they would make chants that he didn't understand but could somehow make sense of. In some of the soldiers was bright burning determination, while some marched on with a gloomy cloud over their heads.

It was soon dusk, and the soldiers quickly returned to their camps, and he decided to follow suit behind them. They couldn't see him for some reason, but he didn't mind; after all, it was to his advantage, and everyone around him had something interesting to talk about as well.

Some of the soldiers were scared to speak up about the impending matter. Half of the army he was seeing was composed of conscripts which was the very reason for their demeanour.

" How could the so-called deities make such a cruel request?"

" Five thousand children?"

" We cannot make sure a sacrifice."

They all said one after the other, looking around the place with complete terror in their eyes. From earlier, he could sense they didn't have any enhanced physical capabilities, and it wasn't any different for their superiors. But from what he could hear them saying, he already had a good hunch as to what they were planning to do...

" A rebellion against gods."

Just then, he felt everything around him turn dark once again, and the next time he woke, he was lying on a bed, staring at a woman lying right next to him, her fingers trailing gently through his hair. She looked oddly familiar with radiant crimson eyes and silky long black hair.
