Reincarnated As A Mosquito-Chapter 24: Cursed Soul
Chapter 24: Cursed Soul
[Humanoid Undead Killed: Soul Weapon Obtained; Ancient Spear]
[Ancient spear: Normal tier weapon, Special Effect: Rust any weapon or armor hit by this weapon will decay faster ]

"Here we go, my luck is back on track," Ben muttered with a wide grin before summoning his new soul weapon, the 'Ancient Spear,' in his left hand. As the spear materialized, a white liquid formed, creating a 7-foot-long weapon with a tooth-like sharp bone at the front, complete with a skull mark. The other end was kind of blunt, but hey, he'd work with what he had.
Unfortunately, Ben's spear skills were as flexible as a rusty doorknob. With no experience wielding a spear, he found himself struggling to handle it's weight and lack of flexibility.
"Now take this, you exoskeletal monsters," Ben said, stabbing his spear directly into the undead skull, breaking the red crystal embedded in it.

"Time to give those exoskeletal monsters a taste of my awesome spear skills!" Ben declared, charging at the undead. He aimed for the skull, hoping to break the red crystal embedded within it. However, his lack of finesse resulted in the spear getting stuck in the undead's ribs. Not one to waste time, Ben improvised and used all his might to push the undead into a barrier, turning it into dust.

As the dust settled from the crumbling remains of the defeated undead, Ben took a moment to catch his breath. With only two monsters remaining to face, Ben wasn't at a disadvantage.
The battle raged on, with Ben using his trusty spear and beetle chitin dagger to dispatch the remaining enemies. He stabbed one skeleton in the forehead, while the other received a "friendly" slam into the barrier.

Exhausted from the prolonged battle, Ben collapsed to the ground, huffing and panting. Even in his past life, he never engaged in a battle this long. Adrenaline was rushing through his veins, making it hard for him to catch his breath and gather his thoughts.
After finally catching his breath, Ben stood up and tossed his weapons back into his inventory. Just as he was about to ask the system some questions, a sudden notification popped up, surprising him.

"It seems that my skills are finally coming back, along with some new ones as well," Ben concluded before he regained his breath and stepped up from the ground, walking towards the deep tree where hooded figures were performing their ritual.
...
..
Meanwhile, in the ritual ground
..
"What the hell is happening? Why are there so many monsters attacking us?" One of the hooded guys asked while green vines behind him were protecting him from the attack of black, smoky figures flying in the air.
"I believe someone has broken the seal to stop the barrier; it also seems that the entity has killed my undead soldiers as well." One of the hooded figures from earlier answered while his undead were protecting him from those black ghostly figures.
Not only he, but almost all the mages there were fighting against the black ghostly figures while they continued to perform the ritual.
As the ritual proceeded, the girls tied to black pillars slowly lost consciousness due to excessive blood loss before a bunch of black hands emerged out of the shadows and covered their bodies.
This ritual continued for a while until there were only five or six girls left, still conscious and grinning with pain.
...
..
Ben, on the other hand, after recovering his stamina, was now steadily walking towards the ritual ground with light steps.
As he approached the ritual ground, he couldn't help but reminisce about his previous days as a mosquito, easily sneaking around unnoticed. What would people even think if they saw a naked man running around in the middle of a ritual cult?
"Sigh, who would've thought I'd miss being a mosquito?" Ben sighed wistfully, contemplating the bizarre sight of a naked man running amid a ritual. "Well, it's all part of the vampire life, I guess. Time to make my presence known!"
As Ben approached the ritual ground, an eerie silence hung heavy in the air. He couldn't shake off the unsettling feeling that permeated the atmosphere, sending shivers down his spine. The sight before him was like something out of a nightmare.
As his eyes scanned the surroundings, a chilling sight caught his attention. Hundreds of black, ghostly shadows swirled above the ritual ground, their tortured screams and whispered curses piercing the stillness. Their presence defied logic, devoid of the life force that flowed through all beings. The very essence of these shadowy entities seemed to be a perversion of life and death.
-Blood Vision-
Ben chanted before his vision turned all red, displaying the surroundings like thermal censors.
"What in the hell are those things? Why isn't there any blood energy in them?" Ben asked, looking at huge black balls floating in his sky and grey ghostly figures revolving around them, which was quite unusual because it was his first time looking at black color in his blood vision skill.
[Beware, host, the things you are looking at are cursed souls. [Those souls who are rejected by both heaven and hell are thrown out of the reincarnation cycle.]
[ Their only task is to possess someone alive and fulfill their last desire.]
[ While the grey figures flying around them are souls that are trapped in their possession after their bodies were controlled by them ]
"Then what are those cursed souls doing over here, next to the Underworld tree?" Ben asked, a cold chill running down his body.
[ I don't have an exact answer to that, but there must be something that's attracting them for ...]
"Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhh"
Before Ben could delve deeper into his thoughts, a gut-wrenching scream pierced the air. His attention snapped back to the ritual ground, where a young girl stood, her body wracked with pain. In an instant, her agony transformed into a burst of deep, resonant laughter that echoed ominously through the night. It was as if two entities were locked within her, locked in a sinister dance, sharing laughter tainted by madness and despair.
