Chapter 293: Chapter 293: Enforcers

"Some lions have gone back into the wild lands but their primary focus is other lions to add them to the lion system," Priya said.

"Hmm, and what about the rest of us?" Kael asked.

"Our main priority is the Zebras, but they aren’t our only priorities. They could serve as a good food source and they have a lot of numbers, we are hoping to find a mega herd.

If not, we are planning to go after them herd by herd, one by one. We’ll be fine if we pick them up little by little and then accumulate their number.

If we do that, we can actually use the Zebras to fight for us, making our work easier and faster.

But besides the Zebras, we are also thinking of getting the crocodiles and the hippos. Especially the hippos, they pack a lot of power in their heads.

There’s also the giraffes, rhinos, buffalos, hyenas, wildebeests, vultures, more snakes, even rats." Priya said.

Kael nodded, "Just to be clear, we are not going to stop until the whole wild plains is conquered and every land belongs to me, to us, the lion royalty.

There will be casualties and strategic retreats are permitted, but this campaign must never cease, we cannot afford to lose our momentum if we want to do it.

We shall use the creatures of the wild plains to replenish our forces..." As Kael spoke, he stood up from his spot and walked forward, officially stepping on the land of the wild plains.

"...Avoid every feline creature you encounter, jaguars, leopards, cheetahs, or the others. Let them be." He added.

Priya asked as she stood up, by now, half of the numerous creatures that were participating in this campaign had already run out of the forest and had spread out to form different groups.

The ground trembled slightly as the herd of elephants slowly walked by. The elephants gave the three-meter-tall golden lion a fearful expression.

Their leader, the fortune elephant matriarch, tried to keep her cool but her trunk kept on trembling.

Sensing her shifty gaze, Kael turned to see her. His eyes locked with the elephant Matriarch’s eyes causing her to flinch and look away.

Kael had easily beaten her while he was in his humanoid form, she couldn’t imagine how easy it would be for him to deal with her in his current true form.

That brief moment she had stared into his eyes, that second she gazed upon those piercing golden eyes, she felt as though Kael had seen through her soul.

Priya kept her gaze focused, ignoring the short exchange between Kael and the elephant. She had already restructured the elephant herd and appointed an enforcer.

The job of the enforcer was to make sure that all the members of the caste were following the rules of the lion royalty and not plotting anything they shouldn’t be plotting.

They were like the police force, keeping the masses in check.

All the castes had a group of enforcers that had been appointed by Priya in the past month.

They were to put the lion royalty first and their caste leaders second. That is, only when lion authority was absent would they take orders from their caste leaders. ƒreewebηoveℓ.com

In the absence of lions, each enforcer was to prioritize the rules or laws that had been out in place over their case leaders. And if a caste leader was to break a law specifically created by the lion royalty, the enforcers were to report it immediately.

For the caste leaders, this enforcer sub-caste was a group that could help them keep their position. But the enforcers also contained caste members who were likely to try and replace them.

The lions had them playing to the sound of their music. Priya had successfully engineered a class system that would put them against each other so that they would not pay too much attention to their lion overlords.

For now, there are not a lot of rules to abide by and there probably won’t be much in the future. The enforcers were only tasked with keeping an eye on everyone.

Priya and Kael walked through the land of the wild plains, escorted by an army.

They were more than six thousand in number with most of them being foxes and birds.

Vixy had been under pressure for the last one month because of the assignment Kael had given her, a punishment for killing Ken, one of his assets, without his permission.

How was she supposed to find every fox that had ever slept in the forest before? And how was Kael supposed to calculate or tell if she had finished the assignment?

However, she didn’t dare slack off or try to play any tricks, once bitten twice shy. Next time, Priya wouldn’t be there to plead on her behalf.

With the pressure Kael had put on her, she had spent all her time recruiting as many foxes as she could. Every fox she and the caste members came across was recruited or killed on the spot.

She didn’t hesitate to send any of her kin to their deaths if they didn’t surrender and add their identity marks to the Vassal Records.

Luckily, with the kind of power Vixy wielded as the caste leader, the caste members were able to recruit most of the foxes they encountered.

At least, they had an eighty percent recruitment rate. The remaining twenty percent naturally met horrible fates at the claws of the hateful madam Vixy.

Because of her assignment, Madam Vixy’s hold on the market economy has been diminishing ever since.

She herself did not have time to worry about the buying and selling of metals or fruits, but her delegates who were very much intent on being capitalists did not stop.

But without Vixy’s constant support, their hold and monopoly over the trade of metal had begun to falter.

The pigs had started shoving their dirty snouts into the fox’s businesses and they did not like it at all.

The pigs had become the foxes greatest rivals, it was almost as if the pigs were showing interest in everything that the foxes owned. Both castes had the largest amount of materialistic characters in the whole kingdom.

Their conflict was inevitable, Harath wasn’t planning on backing down, especially not for someone who was weaker than him.

He had already received the go-ahead from Priya to do what he wished as long as they paid tributes.

If nothing was done, the lugs would continue to eat into the marketplace, ensuring that the foxes completely lost their monopoly. This would affect their profits unless the kingdom can increase the population of its subjects.

More subjects meant more customers and more customers meant more money.

With so many foxes participating in this campaign, there would be a lot of fox-only squads. Thankfully, Priya had made sure not to allow the pigs to participate in this campaign.

There was a time and place for playing the two factions against each other to keep them weak, now was not the time.

Priya, being an intelligent lioness, had been applying and adapting to the temporary role Kael had given her.

"Will you be participating?" Priya asked. She was starting to become more expressive again. One month of faking a stern expression had really changed her attitude.

"Yes, just in case of any emergency," Kael responded, "Those hyenas and hippopotamuses would probably need some of my attention."

Kings shouldn’t have to do all this work themselves but he had to, even though he felt that it was a bit unnecessary. Besides, with Chloe exploring, he wanted to be as close as possible when she eventually found the arkship.

Diane, Zabita, Ruda, and Eidel had come along to participate in this campaign. Olivia and Nalii had stayed back at the Iron Blood Pyramid to keep N’bayé company.

Soon, Condra, the metal-winged leader of the eagle caste flew over from a distance before attempting to land in front of Kael and Priya.

However, once he got too close to the ground near the duo, he felt like he had fallen into an invisible mud pit.

His descent was slowed down significantly before the laggy feeling left. Condra dropped to the ground, very confused.

He shivered and shook his metal wings, causing them to produce metallic clanking sounds.

"What is it?" Kael asked, acting as if he had not seen what just happened to Condra. Priya was also confused, she didn’t understand what had happened.

Condra pushed his puzzlement to the back of his mind and looked at the towering golden lion. With Kael here, Priya no longer looked as impressive as she used to, Kael’s presence completely outshined her.

"Your Majesty, we have caught movements ahead," Condra said, keeping his head bowed to avoid those intimidating eyes.

"And?" Kael asked.

"It seems to be a large group of creatures, black and white, probably Zebras but too far to confirm," Condra said. His body shook uncontrollably as he heard the sound of Kael’s heavy footsteps getting closer.
