Chapter 290: Chapter 290: Against Katari

Zabita had not seen it coming, her hair was grabbed from behind and before she could react, Katari pushed her down, slamming her face into the dirty ground.

This move wasn’t just pure physical prowess, Katari’s actions were supported by a powerful spatial wave.

Zabita’s face smashed into the ground, causing cracks to spread as her head -all the way to her ears- was submerged in the soil.

*CHING CHING!*

Two metal whips lashed at Katari, bringing with them a loud whipping sound.

Katari teleported, leaving the two whips to strike nothing but empty air.

Zabita pushed her palms on the ground and pulled her face out of the ground. Blood dripped from one cut on her cheek, another on her lip, and another on her forehead.

Pain, this was the first time Zabita was treated like this. She had never experienced this level of humiliation and injury before.

If one checked, Zabita had never even fought any enemy alone, partially because of how limited her powers were in the past.

But because of that, she had never really been the focus of a serious attack if not for the incident with the elephants.

She stared at the imprint her face had made in the ground, her eyes quivering from rage.

No longer hesitating, Zabita activated the Conquering Essence within her, causing it to mix with her main power pool.

Instantly, her aura began to rise rapidly as she stood up. The metal pieces around her seemed to flow fluidly like they were in oil, moving around her with ease.

Ignoring the blood that was flowing from her forehead and down her nose, Zabita focused on the being ahead who just appeared out of nowhere.

*CLANK CLANK CLANK!*

The metal pieces assembled in front of Zabita, forming dozens of small metal blades, like daggers, that all pointed at Katari.

Some metal pieces rushed to Zabita’s legs, surrounding them like bees around a hive before forming a rough circular metal platform under her feet.

Like a gothic spirit of darkness, Zabita rose into the sky, carried by the rough metal platform that she controlled with her powers.

Her metal claws glinted with sharp light under the false sun and the dozens of jagged metal daggers rotated around her menacingly.

Seeing Zabita’s current expression, Katari tilted her head to the side, killing intent flashed in her eyes erratically.

*WHOOSH!*

One dagger shot toward Katari, then another, then another, and then more.

Katari took a step forward and raised her hand. The first dragger closed in and she swiped her distorted hand at the flying metal.

*PANG!*

The dagger was casually slapped away, the force of the backhand slap scattering it into pieces. freёnovelkiss-com

The second dagger approached her almost instantly and her hand slapped at it with the same speed.

Then the third, and then more.

She was barraged by daggers but she was able to slap all of them away with one hand.

However, a frown had appeared on Katari’s face because she was using more effort than before to handle these attacks.

This was still child’s play for someone like her, it was something she could end very quickly. But Zabita had gotten stronger so she still had to expend more effort into maintaining the fight without following her killer instincts.

*BOOM!

Diane, who had been launched into the air, finally fell back to the ground, creating a small crater.

Her jaw hurt badly from the uppercut Katari had given her. The pain was not the worst she had experienced but the force had still been enough to send her flying.

She rubbed her jaw while activating the Conquering Essence within her too. Her veins bulge, becoming clear and visible beyond her skin.

She flexed her ankles, then shot forward.

"Katari is not a good opponent for Diane," Olivia said, watching as Diane successfully delivered a punch to Katari’s face.

Kael flinched, almost making a move because of the killing intent Katari unconsciously revealed.

Katari had not been distracted, she had intentionally ignored the attack, not expecting Diane’s strength to rise at the last moment.

Diane herself was surprised, she had expected Katari to dodge or block her punch. Her fist directly struck Katari’s cheek, hitting the thin and flexible spatial barrier that was always there.

Katari’s head was moved slightly to the side as spatial waves rippled out of her body, stabilizing her and keeping her upright.

Before she could look back at Diane, more metal daggers flew over. Katari then did something she had never done in front of anyone before.

She unclenched her right fist and the space around her unfolded like a curtain, expanding and increasing the distance between her and the daggers.

To Kael and Olivia, it looked like the space in between Katari and the daggers was constantly expanding, making it look like the daggers were stuck in a time loop, constantly flying forward without actually moving anywhere.

At the same time, she raised her distorted elbow to black a hook from Diane then unclenched her other fist.

Diane found the space between her and Katari expanding as more and more distance was created between both of them.

Small particles of dirt and air molecules were stretched thin, almost as if the fabric of space was becoming elastic.

With ease and without teleporting, Katari had once again created distance between her and her opponents.

When the space between the three of them was stretched to the limit, Katari clenched her fist again, causing the space to rapidly shrink under her command.

Diane sped back to her initial position as though she never left, and the daggers moved again.

Except this time, Katari was not in between them. The daggers flew straight at Diane, flying faster than Zabita could control because of the shrinking space.

"Next time, maybe Diane should pick someone else to spar with," Olivia added.

"The fight is not over yet," Kael said, his eyes shifting between Zabita and Katari.

As if by clockwork, Zabita made another move, falling into Kael’s predictions.

Zabita had stopped the daggers mid-flight but the shrinking space had not let them stop flying toward Diane.

So she accelerated them again while manipulating them to curve. The blades successfully curved around Diane and flew out of the shrinking space.

At the same time, the metal platform beneath Zabita vibrated slightly, flying her toward Katari.

Diane also reacted fast, rushing out of the shrinking space.

With arms behind her back, Katari’s feet left the ground and she rose a couple of meters high into the sky.

"She can fly?" Olivia asked, astounded. This was just cheating.

"Not really, but yes," Kael said, not bothering to explain it to Olivia as she wouldn’t understand.

As someone with power over space, he could naturally sense the movement of the space fabric around Katari.

Katari stared at Zabita and Diane expressionlessly, arm behind her and her chin held firm. Her black hair fluttered in the wind, giving her the divine presence of a cosmic judge.

Her eyelids dropped halfway, a communication between her and the void around them. The void responded.

Hundreds of blunt spatial blades appeared around her, hanging in the air and vibrating erratically.

Seeing the many transparent glass-like blades hovering in place, Zabita and Diane gulped. Zabita wasn’t the only one who knew how to play with blades.

But Zabita didn’t stop flying toward Katari. Diane slid to a halt before smashing her two arms elbow-deep into the ground.

She then dug out a large piece of the ground, almost as big as she was and incredibly heavy. She raised the large rock above her head, casting a shadow over the cavity she just made on the land.

And then, she hurled the rock at Katari with all her strength.

The large rock flew past Zabita and Zabita took it as a sign. She condensed all her metal pieces around her, forming a spherical construct with a constantly shifting surface.

The sphere of metal pieces shot straight at Katari, following the large rock from behind.

"Cut..." Katari commanded, and the void obeyed.

The large rock was instantly shattered, falling to the ground in a million pieces. Zabita’s metal sphere didn’t travel far before it was hit by a spatial blade storm and crashed heavily into the ground.

Sparks flew everywhere as the metal sphere struggled to withstand the numerous spatial blades trying to cut through the defense.

The sharpness of a spatial blade was not absolute, it depended on the power level and skull of the wielder. Katari’s spatial blade might not be the sharpest, but it was definitely sharp enough to cut through these ordinary pieces of metal.

Katari was just punishing Zabita.

Diane leaped at Katari from another side but was slapped away by a spatial distortion-covered hand.

Olivia was right, Katari was the worst opponent for someone like Diane.

Although the Conquering Essence enhancement had put them infinitely close to a tier 4 lion in terms of power level, it wasn’t enough if they wanted to make Katari sweat.

Having seen enough, Kael finally gave a telepathic order to Katari, "Wrap it up,"
