Reincarnated As A Lion In Another World-Chapter 182: Downward-Upward
The two hundred-plus rats dropped down from the massive magic shuttles with different expressions.
Some were excited, opening their mouths and letting tongues slap against their cheeks. Some were frightened but still had determined expressions on their faces. It was clear that not all of them wanted to do this but they had no choice, they were bound.
Some of the rats splashed into the rapidly moving water with a few of them sustaining light injuries. They let themselves be carried by the spinning force of the whirlpool, descending to the portal.
The majority of the rats had no trouble and dropped directly into the portal, sinking in like a knife through butter.
Xu Ying looked from above with a mischievous smile on his face.
"Look, Xu Ying is smiling like that again," Adolf said with a smile.
"Haha, he only smiles like that when he wants to go big," Someone else said.
Xu Ying and the youths listened carefully, after some seconds, they didn't hear any sound of explosions but they didn't take it to heart.
It was very possible that the portal prevented sound from going in or coming out of the pocket dimension.
"It's high time we get going, the sooner we get the Heavenly Beacon, the sooner we can leave this planet," Xu Ying said as his two eyes began glowing ominously.
As though sensing something was about to happen, the whole magic shuttle vibrated for a moment. It adjusted and prepared as its master put it under autopilot.
Xu Ying leaned over the edge, his eyes narrowing and he took a very deep breath in.
"Finally," Adolf said as he started flexing his shoulders and twisting his neck. He looked like was preparing to go for a jog.
Alas, someone among them was too excited to complete this mission and could no longer hold himself back.
The biggest guy among the youths, a seven-foot-tall man with shabby hair and bulging muscles suddenly screamed at the top of his lungs.
His scream was so loud that the metal platings beneath them shook and vibrated. His scream attracted the attention of his comrade who looked at him to see what was wrong.
Even Xu Ying looked to his side with a frown, wondering what was wrong. However, to his shock, the big guy was in the process of jumping off the edge with a crazy smile on his face.
"Wait…," Xu Ying started but it was too late, the big guy had already jumped off.
His body dropped down like a missile and dived straight into the portal. Little regard for his safety at all, a common trait of War Lions with no responsibilities.
"... Thawne is supposed to go first," Xu Ying completed his sentence with a frustrated expression.
He had literally briefed them on the plan before they came up to the roof. This was why he always wished he had come with his pride lionesses rather than these youngsters.
It was very frustrating, especially when he understood that as lions, they naturally would not take any orders he gave them to heart. They were lions, naturally defiant and highly egoistical, even he was like that.
"Thawne!" Xu Ying barked angrily. Thawne rolled his eyes at the tone Xu Ying was using for him but didn't talk about it, this expedition was important after all.
Without any words, Thawne jumped off the edge and into the pocket dimension he went.
After confirming that Thawne had passed through the portal, Xu Ying nodded to the others to move.
Adolf went down first, screaming at the top of his lungs as the wind beat his body. Next was the horned man, one by one, they all jumped off the edge until it was just Alora, Baba, and Xu Ying left on top of the magic shuttle.
"You don't have to go, you know that right?" Xu Ying said to Baba.
Baba had suffered severe injuries from his fight with Kael, he even lost an arm. He had every right to demand rest and stay back on the magic shuttle.
"Don't worry, if Kael is indeed going to come, I don't want to be here to see him," Baba said while shaking his head.
"You fear your fellow lion?" Alora asked with a questioning gaze.
"Kael is not my 'fellow' lion, he's just…" Baba said. He really didn't know the word to use to describe Kael at all.
"Your description of his abilities and appearance confuses me, if I didn't know better, I would assume he was the Primordial
Lion," Xu Ying said as he raised his hand to rub his chin.
"The more I think about it, the more I think it is so," Baba said, he shivered whenever he remembered how dominating Kael had been during battle.
"Primordial or not, he had better not do anything to Chloe, if not…" Alora said lightly.
Xu Ying glanced at her like he was looking at an idiot. Did she even know what it meant to see a Primordial Lion?
Alora may disguise it with her coldness and quietness, but she was definitely the most prideful of all of them. She didn't even put the Primordial Lion in her eyes.
"Baba, are you sure you don't want to stay? Even if Kael came, he wouldn't be able to break into the magic shuttle, that's just impossible," Xu Ying offered.
"Nope, I feel safer if I'm directly next to you," Baba insisted, there was no way he was going to take that chance.
Who knew what other mysterious miracles Kael had hidden?
"Fine then, let's go," Xu Ying said, then immediately jumped down from the magic shuttle, shooting straight down until he fell into the portal.
Baba and Alora looked at each other before leaping off the edge at the same time. The two soon fell into the portal.
It was also at this time that the many other aquatic animals finally made it to the whirlpool.
The sharks, the sea serpents, the few water lions, the swordfishes, the crustaceans, and even a couple of birds were already making their way here.
The first to arrive, a shark, leaped over the edge of the whirlpool and dived straight down into the portal.
It was like a waterfall of aquatic animals, all of them diving straight for the portal, forgetting that this place held unknown dangers.
As soon as Baba and Alora passed through the portal, they suddenly felt a cold and wet sensation all over their bodies as their bodies were submerged in cold water.
Gravity also started acting weird around all the youths. They had all felt that they were falling downward before, but after they splashed into the water of the pocket dimension, it felt like they were rising upward.
Baba looked up to see the light ahead, all his colleagues were already twisting and turning within the water, ready to take action and release all their powers.
He too began to transform within the water. His spine adjusted and his shoulders shifted in place. His three arms elongated and bulged as they turned into the front limbs of an Earth Lion.
A lush dark mane sprouted from his neck, head, and back, as his face expanded and his facial structure rearranged itself. Soon, he had transformed into a five-limbed earth lion in the water.
It was the same for their other youths, they had all transformed within the water and were rushing like bright-colored torpedoes to the surface.
Ignoring the change in gravity, Baba also rushed upward, kicking all his limbs back so that he could reach the top as fast as possible. He wasn't a water lion after all.
As he neared the light of the dimension's surface, a chilling coldness was felt from his side. He looked to his right to see a pure white lioness emitting a biting cold and freezing the water around her as she rushed to the top.
Below him, other aquatic creatures from the main world were starting to fall into the portals.
Water splashed everywhere as the lions all burst out of the water and jumped onto the nearest land mass they could find. They had fallen into their humanoid forms and came out in their true lion forms.
What they saw before their eyes was not just a space, it was a whole mini world with its own sun and breeze.
The water they had just come out of was a wide lake at the center of a forest with sparse trees.
"Hmm!" Xu Ying, now a large three-meter tall lion with double rune patterns on his body scanned his surroundings, "This is way grander than I thought,"
Alora stepped out of the shallow waters, freezing yw ground beneath her. Water didn't soak her beautiful white fur and her bright blue eyes remained as cold as ever, perhaps colder.
"Imagine creating all this just so that you could hide hw heavenly beacon," She muttered, but no one answered l, they were all wondering the same thing.
Just then, Thawne, who had transformed into a large lion with ordinary light brown fur and dark yellow eyes, frowned, looking deeply worried.
"Guys," Thawne said, feeling his passive power over luck suddenly being disrupted, "Something's wrong,"
