Reincarnated As A Dragon With Cheats-Chapter 13: The Merciless One
Chapter 13: The Merciless One
"The more you drink, the thirstier you get."
The phrase echoed in Nightstone’s mind long after Pebbles had spoken it.
It made no sense.
How could thirst grow if someone was already drinking?
It was a ridiculous idea.
Yet the moment Pebbles pointed toward the Thousand-Year-Old weed, Nightstone’s body trembled.
In an instant, she understood his plan.
And instead of fear, a slow, dangerous smile spread across her face.
One of the things she hated most was watching her kin die.
The Pandora Fish were among the primary culprits behind the unnatural deaths of countless Stone Spiders.
Stone Spiders were not meant to fight in water.
They needed it to survive, to drink, to live, yet the moment they approached it, they became vulnerable.
The fishes exploited that weakness mercilessly.
They would strike in groups, slapping the water with their fins to create violent splashes, dragging spiders beneath the surface.
Nightstone had witnessed it too many times to count.
She had seen the spiders struggling. They would try to get out of the water with all of their abilities.
She had seen their legs thrashing uselessly. She had also seen their eyes losing their fire, them growing tired, and ultimately... their heavy bodies sinking.
Sure, they had webs and threads, but they were not normal spiders.
They were sturdier but heavier.
Due to that, the normal swinging movements that spiders could do were next to impossible for them.
Heck, they could not even make a web home for themselves, which was one of the reasons why they lived in holes instead.
So whenever they tried to shoot webs, attempting to latch onto the ceiling and escape... Nightstone only saw the fishes killing them even more mercilessly.
They would wait for the Stone Spiders to try to climb, only for them to fall back into the pool.
Worse, if some smaller spiders somehow managed to climb, the fishes would shoot water from their mouths and wet the web, making them fall again.
This cycle of hopelessness made her feel hopeless, until she pretended to stop caring about it...
However, deep down, the fire was still alive.
And now, seeing her master devise a devilish plan, she could not help but give a creepy smile that made the other spider onlookers shudder.
There is a saying: like master, like servant. The scenario almost looked the same. But there was much left to see.
Nightstone wandered around. The Thousand-Year-Old weeds were scattered all around the small cave.
So many that Pebbles had finished using all his claws, yet a hundred more remained.
Pebbles could have done the task himself, but he was too busy conversing with the system.
Oi, so what are the Evolution Pathways?
Ding!
[You cannot view the Evolution Pathways unless you have met the following requirements:]
[1. Reach Lv.5] [Incomplete]
[2. Establish a clear Master-Pet relationship with all the Stone Spiders.] [Progress: 13/720] [Incomplete]
[3. Eat meat.] [Incomplete]
And thus, he waited patiently.
Barely a minute passed before Nightstone presented herself in front of Pebbles.
He could barely hold his laughter at the way Nightstone approached him.
The agile Nightstone now moved slowly. The weeds covered almost her entire body, despite dragging more than half of them after tying them with her webs.
"Huff huff, Master, here..."
She pretended to wipe some makeshift sweat drops that had formed on her head.
Seeing this, Pebbles found her cute, moved his left hand forward, and placed it on her head.
Then he gently patted her.
"Good job," he said, and this only made Nightstone blush a little.
Anyone except Pebbles could see that her otherwise brown, sturdy, stone-like exterior had turned slightly red. Well, Pebbles’ vision was no good anyway.
He simply looked at the tons of weeds in front of him.
Everyone else could see them too, especially the fishes, who had not stopped showing him their middle fins.
One of them, intrigued and mocking, said, "Bro? Is that dragon going to eat all of them?"
"Kekeke, looks like it. How foolish!!!" the smug fish replied.
"Indeed, just a while back he did that and drank quite a significant portion of our home. If not for us sleeping, we would have dragged him into the water!" said another one.
"That’s that. But someone who doesn’t learn from their mistakes can only be a dragon. No wonder they are weak. Maybe we should make him our slave, Kekekeke."
If Nightstone had the ability, she would have gouged those peasants’ eyes, tongues, and all organs out while still keeping them alive with ’heal’. Then she would eat their organs in front of them. She would proceed to keep their reproductive organs intact and make them breed.
Then she would eat their kids right in front of them.
Finally, if that were not enough, as dessert, she would fry only one side of the fish and max out their pain sensations while chewing on them.
Unfortunately, Nightstone did not have that ability. At least, not yet.
All she could do was control her anger while Pebbles broke and plucked out the small anther-like pouches appearing on the weeds.
These pouches contained the powder that caused the burning sensation.
"Store them," Pebbles muttered under his breath, and the system started storing the powder in the form of sachets.
Two sachets had been stored, and each sachet contained 100 grams of the powder.
Pebbles then walked closer to the pool.
The fishes noticed this, but they did not stop flipping their fins.
They also started voicing their words louder.
"Kekeke, so dragon boy, back to beg for forgiveness? Want some of our water? Kekekekeke!"
Pebbles stared at them.
"Lele, bro, he’s too weak to speak."
"Kekekeke, or I think he doesn’t know how to speak. His mother might not have taught him... oh right, dragon boy, where are your mama and papa!?"
Okay, this triggered something within him.
He felt a heartbeat inside him.
Ding!
[Congratulations!]
[Your dragon heart has beaten for the first time!]
[You have unlocked Bloodline Skills.]
[Please check your Skills Catalog to access them.]
Pebbles stared at them.
"Bro, hahaha, that was funny. Don’t you know this guy might be a mix between a lizard and a dragon!"
"Kekeke, you mean a lizard r*ped his dragon mama and got him!? Kekekekekeke!"
PEBBLES. MERELY. STARED.
There was total silence from his side, but his heart was beating... about once every ten seconds.
And each beat was like a monster clawing at a massive gate, trying to pry it open and enter the world.
Nightstone’s eyes trembled, and she almost saw her life flash in front of her eyes.
All the Stone Spiders were in a similar state, and even the frogs and insects could feel it.
They were already fleeing the small pool.
Heck, even a blade of grass sprouted legs and ran away.
But these fishes... they believed they were too competent and remained unmoved.
He pulled both sachets out of the inventory.
Then he simply tore the packets open with his teeth and started pouring them into the water.
Nightstone, who was completely paralyzed, calmed slightly... but not enough.
"Say, Nightstone, both these sachets combined contain 200 grams of powder."
Nightstone merely gulped a large amount of dry saliva.
"Master...?"
"A single plant had just two grams and it gave a terrifying effect. What do you think will happen with 200 grams?"
And Nightstone did not speak.
No one spoke, except for the system.
Ding!
[You have gained a title: The Merciless One.]
