Regression - Second Chance At Life-Chapter 269: Blunt Loria
Hearing that Loria was married disappointed Adam, but only for a second, because when had that ever stopped him from getting the woman he wanted?
"Well, forgive me for my rudeness then," Adam says as he gently lets go of her hand and meets her eyes.
The best way to make a positive impression on someone is to be polite while maintaining eye contact, especially if it’s a woman you are trying to connect with.
Loria is a woman blessed with everything, so men would have a hard time just meeting her gaze. Luckily for Adam, Loria has a face that can rarely be matched, and with his strong self-control, he can be respectful.
But when he finally manages to get Loria in his arms, all that respect will be thrown out of the way as he has his way with her.
That sick desire to see a beautiful face warp into an expression of absolute depravity has already taken root deep inside Adam, and it’s not something that he can get rid of anymore.
Luckily, Adam knows how to control his emotions and not show them on his face, because no matter how handsome his face is, if his thoughts are reflected on his face, any woman would be disgusted.
"You said your name was Adam Grant, right?" Loria asks again.
"Yes, perhaps you have heard of it before?" Adam asks.
"Hmm... Are you by chance related to Jack Grant?" Loria asks.
Adam’s eyes widen a little as he didn’t expect Loria to actually know his father. ’What a small world,’ He thinks.
"Yes, I am his son. May I ask how you know my father?" Adam asks.
"Your father works with my husband’s company," Loria says.
Adam is surprised again. Not because his father is working with her husband, but because she actually knows of this relationship. Most women don’t know anything about their husbands’ business, let alone show any interest in their business dealings.
Since Loria seems to know about her husband’s business venture while also being able to remember the names of her husband’s business associates, it shows that she is deeply involved with her husband’s company.
This makes things a little complicated for Adam, but that’s something he will have to worry about when he has made it past the barrier that is between him and Loria.
"What a small world," Adam says, smiling.
"A small world indeed," Loria says.
"Well, I hope their partnership goes well between my father and your husband," Adam says, smiling.
"I don’t," Loria says immediately and bluntly, catching Adam off guard.
Before Adam could even ask why, she spoke. "I don’t like your father. I think he’s a scumbag," she says without holding back with what she really thinks about his father.
Adam is left stunned for a second because he has never met a woman as blunt as Loria; even Margarette, a powerful, dominant woman, has not been this blunt with her thoughts.
His surprised state lasted only for a second before he started to chuckle, and this time it was Loria’s time to be surprised.
Because she has never seen a son react like this to such a harsh comment made at their father.
"Looks like we have one more thing in common," Adam says, meeting her gaze.
Loria’s eyes flash with curiosity as she begins to wonder what makes Adam hate his own father.
"Then why did you wish for his success?" Loria asks.
"Well, what he makes is mine. The more successful he is, the more I will inherit," Adam said truthfully.
Loria almost smiles, hearing Adam’s comment, but she doesn’t.
"So you just plan live off your father’s wealth? Don’t you feel ashamed?" Loria asks, once again, in very blunt words.
Adam’s eyelid twitches a little, but he realizes that this woman is clearly trying to get a reaction out of him, but he doesn’t know why. He has not offended her in any way.
Well, he did lightly flirt with her, but that can be considered just him being polite, so the only reason for her to hold any hostility towards him would be because of his father.
Adam wonders what his father did to make Loria not like him.
"Whoa there, you can’t just run off with your own assumptions about me. And to answer your question, no. I don’t feel ashamed about it, not because I will be spending my life doing nothing but spending my father’s money, but because I have my own thing going on. I am just going to use my father’s money to expand my own business," Adam says.
"Oh... But still, why would you want to use the money of the person you hate? Do you have no pride?" Loria asks.
Adam chuckles again. This is not a matter of pride, because if it were, Adam would have cut off his father from his life immediately.
This is more about not being an idiot.
"This has nothing to do with my pride. I am just not an idiot, because only an idiot would distance himself away from all the money, money that can be used for my own betterment. The people who reject such money are not prideful, but absolute idiots," Adam says, meeting her gaze.
Hearing Adam’s answer, Loria stares at him for a few seconds before giving him a slight smile.
Just a small movement of her lips, expanding a little, but this was enough for Adam to know that he had taken one step closer.
This whole time, Loria had kept a poker face, but now she smiles at him.
Loria smiled because she found Adam’s behavior and attitude refreshing. After all, people around her are never honest with her.
Her friends, her family, even her own husband walk on eggshells around her, so having someone finally talk to her without spewing bullshit or trying to lie to her was appreciated.
Adam took a gamble with his straightforward approach with Loria, because after all, sometimes being so honest can be off-putting, but seeing how blunt Loria herself is, seeing the way her friend acts around her, and even Rita, the sales associate, displaying immediate submissiveness, Adam decided to be straightforward with her because he guessed that people around Loria are likely not honest with her, given her domineering attitude and blunt approach with people, even when it comes to strangers like him.
Such an attitude is not natural, but one made from experience. Loria tried to push his buttons even though they were strangers, which showed Adam that she had never faced any repercussions for such actions, which, in turn, tells Adam that she herself comes from power and not married into it.
His bold and straightforward approach with her broke the pattern that Loria expected everyone to follow, and this was risky, but his risk worked. He got a smile, and that’s a win in his book.
But whether he can carry on with this momentum will depend on his future actions.
Well, his future actions will have to wait for the future, right now Adam can sense that this conversation is over, and he decides to get the hell out of here before things start getting awkward.
So he turns to look at Rita and speaks to her. "I like all three of them, I will buy them," Adam says.
Rita, who also wanted to get out of this changing area, felt a huge wave of relief wash over her, hearing Adam’s words.
So she enthusiastically nods her head.
"Why don’t you go outside and browse some more of our items while I pack your stuff?" Rita says.
Adam gives her a nod. He then looks at Loria again.
"Well, it was a pleasure to meet you. Miss Loria, I hope we will run into each other again," He says and leaves without giving Loria a chance to speak.
He also purposely called her Miss Loria again, even though she had corrected him before, giving her something to remember him.
Loria raises her brows at the audacity of Adam, but can’t do anything about it as Adam’s already out of the changing area.

Outside, Adam begins looking around the store again. Now that he got herself a few more clothes to wear, he decides to check out some perfumes as he does like smelling good. 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺
It helps with his overall presentation, a handsome man who also smells good, who would be able to resist.
He walks up to the perfume booth and samples some expensive perfumes before bagging a few that he likes.
He then moves on to browse around some more, when he finds himself in front of an accessory booth. Looking at all the gift items on display, Adam decides to get something for Isla since she is now his girlfriend; it’s the least he can do for a woman whose status is higher in his life than the rest.
His eyes first fall on some fancy-looking earrings, but he doesn’t see Isla as someone who wears earrings, so he moves on.
He then eyes some necklaces, some extravagant, while others look simple, but then again, he thinks it’s too cliché to gift Isla a necklace, as she doesn’t look like a girl who walks around wearing necklaces.
As for rings... That’s taking things a little too far. Adam can only imagine the reaction he would get from Isla if he gifted her a ring. Knowing how obsessed she is with him, she might take things to levels that he might not be comfortable with.
His eyes finally fall on something that might be perfect, a platinum bracelet. Something she can wear all the time around her wrist, reminding her of him when she is out there in the world doing music tours.
