Rebound In Time-Chapter 44- Golden slash
Chapter 44 - 44- Golden slash
Mitchell was still shaken about the memory he had seen. Just being a memory and it was already so overbearing. It was a wonder how it was still existing.
He brought out the jade slip again. This time he looked at it instead of trying to see what was inside.
The jade slip looked like it had been around for many years. The jade color had already diminished and it was looking brown. It was cracked and stubbed at the corners and edges, a clear indication that it must have passed through many hands and was now in his.
He could not determine the age by himself since he was not from the spirit realm and time had a whole different meaning here. His two days was probably like two minutes for some.
So for him to guess the age of an item from the spirit realm was impossible. Unless if jack was here.
He would know where it was from, how old it was and what power level was that sword slash. It really had an impression on him.
He closed his eyes to recover his cultivation base again but the sight of the golden slash wouldn't leave his head. He kept on seeing the slash moving, then imagined it was going to kill a beast.
He tried to imagine how it would feel like hold I h the golden sword. The power that would be coming out from it and the destruction he would bring on his enemies. He tried to find out the true reason for the blade slash, who was its enemy? What was it made out of? Wat was it made for? Why was it made? Those questions kept running gym laps in his head but he got no answer.
With a helpless sigh, he brought out the purple sword and tried to imitate the slash over and over. Even trying to get in a position that would make the slash plausible. But to no avail.
He slashed and slashed but there was no golden light or presence. It just felt like he was just swinging the sword over and over again.
He tried one more time for him to decide it was a failure. He would try some other time again when he was free and not always on the lookout for enemies.
But unknown to him, that last sword slash contained a very small and almost negligible amount of the golden presence. Although just barely. His eyes had even flickered with a faint golden light for an instant but Mitchell had no idea of this and ended this session as a failure.
That single sword slash had entranced him so much that he would try and try again to get closer to the feeling. There was something missing. He knew it. If he could find what he was missing, he would also be able to produce a similar slash or at least just a portion of it.
Until then he would continue practicing that single sword slash until he gets it and can produce a power similar to it.

In another part of the trial mountain, a lone youth stood facing down. His face could not be seen. He was staring at nothing yet you would think he was staring at something.
The wind blew and he staggered a like a little push from the wind would make his capsize. His breathing was rough and his face was pink like he had been blushing but the stern look on his face said otherwise.
The wind blew at his green hair. There were faint tattoos all over his body. The sleeves of his robe was slightly torn but it didn't manage to hide his blood soaked hands.
He grinned evilly and stretched his hand behind him to grip the neck of a cultivator who had planned to ambush him. The cultivator was aiming for his neck with his lance but his own neck was now in his blood filled hands.
He squeezed the neck as he said " And he was begging me not to kill you. Even going as far as to not take control for a while and leave me to my business, and yet, you cultivators never disappoint". He laughed at the end and squeezed the neck tighter until his neck broke like a twig.
'Simply no fun. Why are they all breaking like sticks. Are they that weak. And here I thought I could go all out in this trial'. He thought inwardly with a sneer.
All through this time he had not raised his head up and when he did, his eyes were closed like he was in deep sleep but the faint evil smirk was still on his face creating a contrast.
"I have ample time so who should I fight, ehh. There'd best be better opponents if not I'll go to sleep."
The green haired youth then darted away looking for more souls to lay to rest. He did not bother to clean his hands from the blood and continued on like an evil spirit.
In these past two months, the devious nature of man's heart has fully been realized as everyone learned to look out for his own back. Your closest friend would not hesitate to back stab you when the opportunity arose all for the sake of gaining power, no matter how little. Even if it only gave you an edge over others.
The amount of blood being spilled everyday was uncountable and the ones to die were always the weak or those who did not like killing. They would easily be disposed of once they met their enemies and only those that did not want to die a fools death would change his ways and immediately start thinking for himself and himself alone.
Mitchell was quite glad that Ange was not with him during the past two months concerning his previous berserk. He could not different between friend and for and even if a single leaf had life in it like a human, he sous spare no attempts in killing it.
That was just how far his berserk mode went. He now believed it to be a blessing in disguise when they were separated. If she had been there and he killed her, he would not forgive himself. Even if he had started getting used to killing, killing his only friend in the spirit realm was too extreme an would leave a very bad taste in his mouth. He would grieve and not be able to complete the trial, or just die to due to his indecisiveness.
The trial was proving to be difficult for everybody, no partiality. He thought as he clashed with a bear. This punch struck the claws and a faint sound of steel being clanged together was heard.
He staggered back a couple of steps while the bear did not move an inch. It instead roared at him and continued with another attack.

Mitchell sidestepped and immediately conjured the purple sword. He clashed with the next attack and this time he was thrown back.
"Damn you bear. You are lucky you weren't here when I was in berserk mode". He cursed inwardly.
Turns out that the cave was actually for the bear. It had run away when the middle aged man drove it away with its simple aura.
It had waited for a while for the human to leave and when he finally left, it went back in. Thinking it was its home again. Then he saw Mitchell who was cultivating quietly.
It gauged Mitchell's strength and when it saw it could easily defeat him, it attacked immediately.
Mitchell woke up from his trance like state in time to be able to block the claws of the bear. Though it was not for naught. The bear claws still managed to slash his sides and his robes tore and blood could be seen gushing out from the wound.
Mitchell bore through the heavy pain and managed to force the bear outside the cave to open ground.
The bear relied mostly on physical attacks and hardly casted any spells. Only reinforcing its claws with spiritual energy.
Since he had the advantage, Mitchell decided to test just how far his physical strength rose when he was in the berserk mode and he had found the perfect test dummy.
It could use no Qi attacks and would just attack with its physical brute strength. Just managing to force Mitchell back several times until all the tests he needed to conduct was finished.
He summoned his purple sword immediately he was done playing. These short two months had taught him that a frustrated and cornered enemy was the most dangerous one.
He beam brandishing the blade on the bears body. Its skin was hard enough to offer some sort of protection against it but it still did not last for more than a moment and the sword would slice into its flesh.
The bear would swipe and claw at him but he would manage to dodge and block but each time taking less damage.
Over and over again the bear would attack in the same predictable pattern. It would always slash at his head or chest which Mitchell was always anticipating.
It didnt take long before he killed the bear. It feel down with a loud thud but mitchell did not care. He gave himself a moment to let his guard down.
Then he became alert again. The bear was also the the same stage as him. 'The fifth stage d foundation building realm and was really close to breaking through to the next stage.
'Even though we were at the same stage, the bear still managed to overpower me with brute strength. It was only because of my advantage to use Qi attacks was my victory assured.
If it had been able to use Qi based attacks as well. I probably won't be here. *Sigh* my power is still not strong enough and I will suffer at the hands of magical beast who are at the same realm. If they know how to use Qi to attack, then am toast and should be running each time I saw a superior beast.' These were the thoughts In his head as he rested.
