Chapter 124: Chapter 124: Doing Homework All Night, Don’t Need a Pen?

Anna Willow must have been cramming homework with Iris Kensington, because they arrived at the Quincy’s house about ten minutes later.

After Holly Winslow opened the door and saw their exhausted faces and the dark circles under their eyes, she asked, "You were pulling an all-nighter, too?"

Anna Willow and Iris Kensington both saw Mortimer Quincy, but they were too drained at the moment and just collapsed onto the sofa to rest with their eyes closed.

Anna Willow said listlessly, "I didn’t sleep a wink. Damn that language arts essay. My hand’s about to fall off from all the writing."

With her eyes still closed, Iris Kensington groaned, "AHHH, I’m going to die from overwork. Holly, you can come collect my body."

Holly Winslow: "..."

She reached out and smacked each of them lightly. "Serves you right. This is what you get for not starting your homework sooner."

...

About ten minutes later, Zeke Zane and his group arrived at the entrance of the Quincy family’s villa.

Except for Zeke Zane, none of the others had been there before, and they were all stunned.

They knew Mortimer Quincy’s family was well-off, the upper-middle-class type, but they never expected them to be mogul-level wealthy.

Pantheon stared at the decent-sized swimming pool and let out a loud, "FUCK! Holy shit, this is what you call filthy rich! He has a swimming pool at home. I thought that only happened on TV."

Paul Powell howled along with him, "I can’t believe one of my bros is a rich heir!"

"I originally thought Mortimer Quincy was building his fortune on scholarships. Turns out I was just shortsighted," Chase Hawkins said, clicking his tongue twice. "TSK TSK."

Hearing their voices, Mortimer Quincy opened the door for them and said calmly, "The spots are all set up."

The moment Paul Powell heard that, he scrambled over, grinning from ear to ear. "We’re here, we’re here! Mortimer, you have to let us come over for gaming sessions more often."

"As long as you’re willing," Mortimer Quincy said, raising an eyebrow.

"Willing! Of course, we’re willing! I’d die to be here!" Paul Powell laughed heartily. "HAHA!"

A moment later, he wasn’t laughing anymore.

After the group entered the house and changed into slippers, they saw Holly Winslow and the other two girls cramming homework in the living room.

Pantheon, completely oblivious to the impending danger, leaned in and asked curiously, "Cuz, you guys still haven’t finished your homework?"

"That’s just pathetic," he added, his tone tinged with a bit of gloating.

Mortimer Quincy shot him a look, then picked up the pens from the table and started handing them out. Paul Powell looked confused. "What are the pens for? Do we need pens to play games?"

"You don’t need pens for an all-nighter of homework?" Mortimer Quincy pointed to the worksheets on the table. "Get to it."

’Not an all-nighter of gaming, but an all-nighter of homework?’

The entire group was in disbelief. "..."

’Is this something a human being would even do?’

Pantheon’s jaw dropped. "No way! I gotta go home. My mom just told me to come home for dinner. Bye!"

"Oh, I just remembered! My mom told me to deliver something to my dad, so I’m gonna head out." Paul Powell had just finished his own homework yesterday. He had finally managed to get out for some gaming, and now he was being told to do more homework.

’This is so fucking inhumane.’

’No, it’s *very* fucking inhumane.’

Chase Hawkins pointed at Mortimer Quincy, looking as if he’d been betrayed by a lover. "How could you say something like that? How could you do this to us?"

Holly Winslow couldn’t hold back an uncharitable laugh. This whole situation really was a dick move.

"I’m treating you all to an all-nighter." Mortimer Quincy glanced at his watch. It was already ten o’clock.

In the end, everyone "reluctantly" stayed to do homework. The ones good at math did math, the ones good at physics did physics, and the ones good at chemistry did chemistry.

These were the difficult subjects, and they were precisely the ones Anna Willow and Iris Kensington had left.

Ahem, actually, English was hard too, but the entire test was filled with multiple-choice questions, making it smooth sailing to just randomly fill in A, B, C, and D.

Paul Powell picked up a math worksheet and grumbled as he worked, "This garbage is keeping me from my gaming. What a fucking piece of shit."

Anna Willow and Iris Kensington: "..."

’Was he cursing them or the worksheet?’

Zeke Zane watched as Anna Willow zipped through her math worksheet, randomly guessing A, B, C, or D for the multiple-choice and filling in 0, 1, or 2 for the fill-in-the-blanks.

For the long-answer problems, she just copied down the given conditions from the question.

She finished a whole worksheet in just over ten minutes.

"..."

He started to question his own existence. Unable to hold back, he asked, "Your teachers don’t check this?"

Anna Willow yawned and said dismissively, "Doing it randomly gets you about the same score as doing it seriously. Actually, no, you get more points doing it randomly."

This absurd theory was something the top students from the honors class had never heard or seen before.

"..."

The miserable Pantheon suddenly burst out laughing. "The boss lady is amazing!"

"My skills should not be ’underestimated’," Anna Willow said without a hint of shame.

Aside from Anna Willow and Iris Kensington, everyone else was working seriously, mainly because they weren’t in the habit of just filling in random answers. But their speed wasn’t slow at all. Mortimer Quincy, in particular, finished a worksheet every half hour. 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂

Holly Winslow leaned over and reminded him, "Just aim for a one-third accuracy rate. Don’t get them all right."

In reality, summer and winter break homework wasn’t checked strictly. Even if a teacher noticed something was off, they wouldn’t prevent you from registering for the new semester. At most, you’d get a scolding on the first day of school.

But you couldn’t go too overboard, either.

Mortimer Quincy thought for a dozen seconds. "That’s a bit difficult. The correct answers are pretty obvious."

Jarton Second High chose worksheets based on its students’ academic level, so the difficulty was several notches below Jarton High’s.

Holly Winslow: "..."

She suspected Scholar Quincy was just flexing his intelligence.

She rolled her eyes and went back to her own worksheet.

At noon, Andre Quincy and Brooke Jarvis came home and were momentarily stunned to see a large group of kids doing homework in the living room.

Besides Zeke Zane and Holly Winslow, none of the others had met Mortimer Quincy’s parents before.

Zeke Zane said politely, "Uncle Quincy, Aunt Quincy."

Seeing this, the others followed suit and greeted them.

When Chase Hawkins heard Holly Winslow calling them "Uncle Quincy" and "Aunt Quincy" along with everyone else, he instinctively asked, "Cuz, did you use the wrong titles?"

To be fair, he genuinely thought she had made a mistake.

Holly Winslow: "..."

She looked at Andre Quincy and Brooke Jarvis and said meekly, "Aunt, Uncle."

Pantheon and Zeke Zane: "..."

Anna Willow and Iris Kensington: "..."

’Damn, Holly’s something else!’

Seeing Holly Winslow practically shrink into her collar, Brooke Jarvis found the girl incredibly amusing. She chuckled. "Mm, you all carry on with your homework."

Brooke Jarvis went upstairs with Andre Quincy. Once inside the bedroom to change clothes, she couldn’t help but laugh. "That Holly is so adorable. No wonder Moira treasures her so much."

"She is very well-behaved," Andre Quincy agreed.

For lunch, Brooke Jarvis cooked a huge feast, which included the clams that Holly Winslow loved.

Under everyone’s watchful eyes, Mortimer Quincy picked out the clam meat and placed it in Holly Winslow’s bowl. Zeke Zane and Pantheon simultaneously glanced at Andre Quincy and Brooke Jarvis, but the parents didn’t react at all. "..."

’You could get full just from all this PDA.’

After lunch, the group went back to cramming homework. Having pulled an all-nighter and then worked all morning, Iris Kensington and Anna Willow started to doze off. Anna Willow finally succumbed to the god of sleep, and her head hit the table with a THUD.

It startled Zeke Zane. He watched as Anna Willow tried to pry her own eyes open with her fingers. "..."

"You two should get some sleep."

Anna Willow waved her hand, forcing her eyes wide. Full of "fighting spirit," she declared, "No, I have to do my homework."

Not even half an hour later, however, both of them were fast asleep, slumped over the table.

The group didn’t finish everything until two or three in the morning. Their hands were cramping, and no one had any desire to play games anymore.

Paul Powell lay sprawled on the sofa. "Damn it, this is the first time I’ve ever done homework until I wanted to puke."

"Me too."

Pantheon let out a long "AHHHH" at the ceiling, then added, "This sofa is so soft. Damn you, filthy rich people."

Mortimer Quincy glanced at the two of them, then made a call to a nearby barbecue joint to order delivery.

After hanging up, he saw that Holly Winslow, Anna Willow, and Iris Kensington had all fallen asleep, leaning against each other haphazardly.

He bent down and lifted Holly Winslow into his arms. She instinctively snuggled into his chest a couple of times.
