Reborn to Outshine My Ex and His White Moonlight-Chapter 403: Don’t Even Think About Finding Another Man
Chapter 403: Chapter 403: Don’t Even Think About Finding Another Man
Gong Chen didn’t say anything more and turned to leave.
Lin Zhiyi slammed the door shut with force.
Finally, she slumped down beside Xingxing, her mind a whirlwind of chaos.
She didn’t even know what else she could do.
Calming herself, she lay down next to Xingxing, pulling her tiny body tightly into her arms.
A moment later, her phone suddenly buzzed.
She pulled it out and looked at the unfamiliar number on the screen. She didn’t even need to guess to know who it was.
Gong Chen.
He had sent a text message.
Reading the message, Lin Zhiyi abruptly sat up on the bed.
She got off the bed and began pacing back and forth in the room, torn by uncertainty.
She had just told Gong Chen to get lost—wouldn’t going to him now feel awkward?
But when her gaze fell on the peacefully sleeping Xingxing, she still walked out of the room.
The living room was shrouded in darkness.
Had Gong Chen already gone back to his room to sleep?
Just as Lin Zhiyi turned to head back, there was a soft click behind her, and the floor lamp near the couch lit up.
"Looking for me?"
The man sat bathed in the light, his long legs crossed, a few buttons on his shirt casually undone.
The soft glow outlined the gleam of his skin at his chest—restrained yet dangerous.
His fingers rested against the rim of the cup beside him, as if lost in thought.
Lin Zhiyi glanced at the liquid in the cup, frowning slightly.
Gong Chen’s deep voice broke the silence: "It’s not alcohol, it’s tea. I haven’t touched alcohol in a long time."
Lin Zhiyi’s heart suddenly tightened.
Why was he trying to explain himself to her?
She bit her inner lip and steadied herself, walking up to him.
Raising her phone, she said, "What does your message mean? What do you mean Sang Ran is dying? And Ye Feifei is missing?"
"Exactly what it says. I promised Sang Ran I wouldn’t speak of it but never said I wouldn’t write it."
Lin Zhiyi froze.
Was he... being deliberately tricky?
Gong Chen lifted his gaze, his eyes burning as he looked at her. His voice was low and steady: "All I know is, if I don’t do something, you’ll run away again."
Their eyes locked, and Lin Zhiyi’s mind surged with countless emotions, but when she opened her mouth to speak, words failed her.
There was no future for them.
His marriage to Sang Ran was real; nothing she said or thought would change that.
"I understand." Lin Zhiyi averted her gaze and said softly, "I might’ve overthought things earlier, but you’re aware of Xingxing’s condition. I hope, for her sake, you won’t shield... Sang Ran for Ye Feifei’s sake."
As she turned to head back to her room, her phone screen suddenly lit up.
The caller ID displayed: Du Qian.
Lin Zhiyi answered, "Doctor Du."
"Zhiyi, how’s Xingxing doing?" Du Qian asked warmly.
"She’s fine. She’s already asleep," she replied.
"Good. I went to the inn looking for you, but the clerk said you were out. Where did you go? If there’s anything you need help with, let me know," Du Qian offered with concern.
"No, I... ah."
Before she could finish her sentence, a man’s arm suddenly wrapped around her waist, yanking her back forcefully.
Thrown off balance, she landed heavily on the man’s lap.
Before she could struggle, his strong arms caged her in tightly.
"Zhiyi, what’s wrong? Where are you? Let me come pick you up," Du Qian said anxiously.
Gong Chen rested his chin against her shoulder.
His breath was hot and hurried, his thick lashes casting shadows over his eyes that were overflowing with an unshakable tenderness.
"Why aren’t you answering him?"
His breath sent tingles down her ear, causing her to bite her lip before answering, "I’m fine. It’s nothing. No need to bother, I..."
Before she could finish her sentence, Gong Chen snatched the phone from her hand and ended the call.
"There’s no need for you to entertain him," he said coldly. "Who is he?" ƒree𝑤ebnσvel.com
"Why should I explain anything to you? You’re the last person who should be meddling in my life." Lin Zhiyi shifted her body, trying to free herself.
"What do I have to do for you to believe I don’t love Sang Ran?"
"There’s no need for you to explain to me." Lin Zhiyi tugged at his hands.
"Then actions will speak."
"Wha—mmph!"
Lin Zhiyi’s long hair flared as her body was suddenly pressed down onto the couch.
Gong Chen knelt on one knee on the sofa, his body pressing tightly against hers, one hand cradling the back of her head as he kissed her fervently on the lips.
The sudden assault left her mind blank, unable to react at all.
His ragged breathing mingled with hers, his scorching breath brushing her face and sending shivers through her entire body.
Only when she felt herself nearing suffocation did the man pull back, straightening up to undo his shirt buttons.
Gasping for air, Lin Zhiyi regained some clarity, using her arms to push him away.
Her raised hand brushed against his neck, and in her panic, she ended up grasping it.
Her fingers glided over his Adam’s apple, and his body instantly tensed, his breathing unsteady, a low groan escaping from his throat.
In the next second, he caught her wrist and guided her hand downward.
The image... it was practically seductive.
Even Lin Zhiyi herself swallowed hard, her breath quickening.
When her fingers unexpectedly touched his belt, she felt her mouth go dry.
"Mama!"
A voice called out from the room—Xingxing.
Lin Zhiyi immediately kicked out at Gong Chen.
He caught her ankle and rasped, "You’ll injure yourself that way."
"Let go of me! You shameless bastard!"
"I already went this far to seduce you—what shame do I have left to speak of?"
Gong Chen released her foot.
Lin Zhiyi’s face flushed red with heat as she scrambled to her feet and rushed back into the room.
Inside, Xingxing sat up in bed clutching her little rabbit, her expression pitiful. "Mama, I need to go to the bathroom."
"Alright, I’ll take you," Lin Zhiyi said, smoothing her hair as she reached out to pick up Xingxing.
But someone was faster than her.
"I’ll take her," Gong Chen said, reaching toward Xingxing.
Xingxing blinked at Lin Zhiyi hesitantly.
Lin Zhiyi understood that Xingxing didn’t want to upset her.
She smiled and nodded at Xingxing.
Only then did Xingxing release the rabbit and walk over to Gong Chen.
In the bathroom.
Gong Chen, towering at six-foot-three, hand-in-hand with a tiny child a fraction of his height.
Suddenly, Xingxing tugged on his hand.
"Turn around. I’m a girl."
"Alright."
Gong Chen obediently turned his back, unable to suppress a smirk at being bossed around by a child.
After a while, Xingxing looked up at him. "I can’t get up to the toilet."
Gong Chen chuckled without much choice but kept his dignity, saying, "I’ll close my eyes and lift you up, alright?"
"Okay."
Xingxing nodded in agreement.
When she finished, she pointed at the sink.
"Pick me up. I need to wash my hands."
"Alright."
Gong Chen bent down and lifted her effortlessly onto the sink.
While drying her hands, he noticed that she kept staring at him.
Unlike her earlier wariness, there was only curiosity now.
Suppressing his usual coldness, he asked, "What’s so fascinating to look at?"
"You lift me higher than Mama does," Xingxing remarked seriously.
"Then how about I always carry you from now on?" Gong Chen pinched her soft little hands.
"Nope! Mama wouldn’t like it." Xingxing replied earnestly, "If Mama doesn’t like it, I won’t either. Besides, I have plenty of people to carry me. Uncle Du can lift me just as high."
"Uncle Du?" Gong Chen narrowed his eyes slightly.
"Uncle Du likes Mama. He’s really nice to her," Xingxing emphasized.
"And what about your Mama?"
"Mama..." Xingxing cupped her tiny face in her hands, thinking hard. "Mama probably likes him too. She even let Uncle Du be my dad once!"
"..."
Gong Chen’s expression remained calm, but a chilling gleam flashed in his eyes.
Lin Zhiyi was shaking out the blankets when Gong Chen emerged from the bathroom carrying Xingxing.
Xingxing yawned as she climbed back into bed and rolled over to sleep again.
Gong Chen walked up to Lin Zhiyi. His voice, deep and unwavering, carried a dangerous edge: "Lin Zhiyi, don’t think for a second you’ll find another man."
