Reborn to Outshine My Ex and His White Moonlight-Chapter 365: We’ve All Been Deceived
Chapter 365: Chapter 365: We’ve All Been Deceived
The police were still saying something, but Lin Zhiyi wasn’t listening at all.
Her mind went blank with a bang.
Suddenly, there was a commotion of footsteps at the entrance of the police station.
Before anyone was seen, an angry voice could be heard.
"Where is Liu He! Call her out!"
Lin Zhiyi was startled upon hearing the voice.
Turning her head, she saw Aunt Yang with a pale, livid face rushing in disheveled, leading a group of people.
Three of them were the aunts who had afternoon tea with Liu He last time.
Unable to find Liu He, Aunt Yang set her sights on Lin Zhiyi as if seeing her enemy, her eyes blood-red and jaws tightly clenched.
Without giving anyone a chance to react, she charged at Lin Zhiyi like an arrow.
Fortunately, Sang Li was quick to react, raising his hand to shield Lin Zhiyi.
The police held back Aunt Yang: "Please be mindful! This is a police station!"
As if provoked, Aunt Yang ignored the police’s words and started to throw a tantrum.
Turning to the side, she grabbed the policeman’s collar and said, "Are you protecting Liu He just because she’s the Gong Family’s Second Madam? Do you have any idea how much money she’s scammed from us ordinary folks? This is collusion between officials and businessmen!"
The police frowned but still patiently said, "I understand you’re all anxious, we’re already investigating, and we will give you justice."
"We don’t believe it! Who knows if you’ll just release Liu He once we leave! We won’t accept unless you hand over Lin Zhiyi to us! With her daughter here, Liu He definitely can’t escape."
Aunt Yang, staring intently at Lin Zhiyi shielded in Sang Li’s arms, sat down on the ground and gestured broadly.
Fearing their money could not be reclaimed, the people behind her followed suit and surrounded Lin Zhiyi.
Lin Zhiyi, looking at the familiar aunts baring their teeth and sneering, finally recovered her wits after a long while.
She tugged at Sang Li’s hand and took a step forward.
"Aunt Yang, what on earth has happened to you all?"
Aunt Yang huffed coldly: "Your mother and Jiang Fen scammed our money!"
Another aunt who was relatively calm explained, "Zhiyi, don’t think we’re heartless, but we’ve lost all our money. Aunt Yang mortgaged her house and car to make some extra money for her son, and now we’re told everything was a scam! How can we accept this?"
Lin Zhiyi was stunned: "Didn’t I tell you to consider it carefully? Have you discussed it thoroughly with Aunt Jiang?"
They looked at each other.
"No, but the money was indeed given to your mom, why don’t you just return it to us."
"Yeah, Zhiyi, it’s all our hard-earned money, just pay it back for your mom."
Apart from Aunt Yang, the tones of the other aunts softened, and they took turns pressuring Lin Zhiyi.
Lin Zhiyi took a step back and counter-asked, "Are you implying my mom directly asked you for the money?"
They were silent, nervously fidgeting with their sleeves.
Aunt Yang suddenly stood up, hands on hips: "Yes! It was Liu He who tricked us out of our money! Hurry up and return it!"
Hearing about the repayment, the others also nodded in agreement.
Lin Zhiyi’s gaze swept around, feeling that something was amiss, but still she asked, "How much?"
Immediately, the crowd in front of her started to shout out figures.
Lin Zhiyi felt a sourness in her heart and froze.
Thirty-six million and more!
How could she ever repay that?
Seeing Lin Zhiyi silent, Aunt Yang reached out and grabbed her arm: "Are you trying to deny it? Don’t think I don’t know, your mom has arranged a dowry of tens of millions for you, perhaps all that money was scammed!"
Upon hearing about the tens of millions in dowry, the others’ faces darkened, as if they wanted to skin Lin Zhiyi alive.
Lin Zhiyi, however, just stared blankly at Aunt Yang.
How did Aunt Yang know how much dowry Liu He had arranged for her?
Liu He had always been worried that the Gong Family would accuse her money of having illicit origins, so she specifically instructed Lin Zhiyi to keep the engagement a secret prior to the announcement.
She feared the Gong Family the most, so she would never casually mention it to Aunt Yang as a topic of small talk.
After being stared at by Lin Zhiyi for a few seconds, Aunt Yang, seemingly frightened by something, suddenly instigated, "Catch her, and we’ll get our money back!"
The others, disregarding the police’s attempt to stop them, closed in on Lin Zhiyi in an instant.
Sang Li immediately stepped in front of Lin Zhiyi.
"Stop it!"
A steady voice rang out from beyond the chaos.
Gong Shiyan came forward with a lawyer.
He approached Lin Zhiyi and Sang Li, "Are you okay?"
Lin Zhiyi’s mind was in turmoil, and she didn’t know where to begin.
Sang Li, arm around her, spoke on her behalf: "We’re okay, but this situation is a bit tricky." ƒгeewebnovёl.com
His gaze coldly swept over Aunt Yang and her group out of the corner of his eye.
Gong Shiyan understood and, without looking at them, said composedly, "I’ve already gathered some information on the way here. We will definitely cooperate with the police investigation and ensure the entire matter is thoroughly examined."
Gong Shiyan usually appeared mild-mannered, but he was unequivocal when it mattered.
With his air of a mature elite, he immediately subdued the others.
Aunt Yang, in particular, looked even paler than before.
The police took advantage of the situation to separate the two groups, stepping in front of Gong Shiyan and Lin Zhiyi: "Please come with me, there are some details that we indeed need to confirm with you."
"Alright," Gong Shiyan nodded, following the police toward the interrogation room.
Lin Zhiyi pulled down Sang Li’s hand, and with a few strokes and a glance from the corner of her eye, signaled to Aunt Yang.
Sang Li nodded and watched as she went inside.
To the side, Aunt Yang seemed unwilling to give up and thought about storming in to exacerbate the situation.
Sang Li raised his hand to block her, speaking icily, "You and the Second Madam were colleagues before, you should know that making a scene here won’t get your money back, so what is the purpose of your commotion?"
Aunt Yang was stunned, fiddling with her disheveled hair: "I’ve been swindled out of money, I can’t care about the rest."
Sang Li remained silent, simply watching her.
From the moment she insisted Liu He had deliberately swindled their money, he found this woman very strange.
It seemed as if she was pulling the strings behind everyone’s actions.
So he had kept silent, waiting to see what she truly intended to do.
Aunt Yang felt a chill in the marrow of her bones under his gaze and retreated several steps.
Sang Li said in a deep tone, "The journalists outside won’t be able to help you."
Aunt Yang was utterly shocked, and instinctively turned her head to look outside the police station.
She saw a tall, handsome man pulling a disguised journalist out of the car window and pressing him against the car door.
After confiscating the journalist’s belongings, the man turned and walked into the police station, respectfully standing behind Sang Li.
"Young Master."
At this, Aunt Yang’s face turned ashen.
"I don’t know what you’re talking about."
After speaking, she quickly retreated back to the side of her companions.
Sang Li turned to look at Zhou Zhao: "How is it?"
Zhou Zhao replied, "That journalist said he came over after receiving an anonymous tip. I’ve checked all his communication devices, and it was indeed an anonymous message. We’re already looking into the number. Currently, we don’t know who is targeting Liu He."
"That woman started fanning the flames against Zhiyi the moment she came in, do you really think their target is just Liu He?" Sang Li said in a serious tone.
Zhou Zhao fell silent, just as his phone received information from the investigation.
After reading the message, he frowned and said, "Hmm? What’s this all about?"
