Reborn on Wedding Night: Flirting the Cold Bigshot into Blushes-Chapter 447: The Last Birthday
Nancy Allen saw this scene, and her heart somewhat broke.
She slowly walked over, sat next to Julius Shaw, and said: "Julius, are you waiting for me? I went back to Ink Manor to check on Sophie and brought you some snacks. Would you like to eat?"
"I want to eat."
Nancy handed one of the packed snacks to Julius, and she took one for herself to eat.
The sunset’s afterglow was as sorrowful as the day Godfery Shaw disappeared.
Nancy was quietly preparing.
Julius Shaw was earnestly looking forward to it.
Even though he was disappointed once, he still looked forward to it.
Even if his planned death was right after his birthday, he still looked forward to it.
What gift would Nancy give him? Would he receive birthday blessings? Would he have cake?
Thinking about these things made Julius feel that he was truly living.
January 28th.
Julius Shaw’s birthday.
Julius Shaw specially changed into new clothes.
Early in the morning, Julius began to anticipate, but Nancy hadn’t mentioned it all morning. On second thought, it made sense—no one ever celebrates their birthday early in the morning.
At lunchtime, Nancy still didn’t mention it. Julius thought it might be even later, and he had to be patient.
After dinner, Nancy said she had something to do and went out. In the empty Imperial Garden, Julius was alone in the hall, feeling somewhat lost. Had Nancy forgotten?
Perhaps one shouldn’t covet things that don’t belong to them. A dark personality born out of accident doesn’t deserve a birthday...
Just then, all the lights in the Imperial Garden suddenly went out, and the sound of singing began.
"Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday..."
Nancy pushed in a big cake, followed by a group of people singing a simple yet sincere birthday song as they approached Julius.
Julius stood frozen in place.
Hailey Smith and Luna Summer set off party poppers, and under the candlelight, colorful paper fell down.
Nancy brought the cake over to Julius.
Everyone clapped and laughed while singing.
"Mr. Shaw, make a wish and blow out the candles!"
"Second Young Master, quickly blow out the candles."
"Julius, close your eyes and make a birthday wish."
Julius looked at the candles on the cake. The eyes that were always filled with dark melancholy now reflected the candlelight of his birthday.
The candlelight gently flickered, making it hard for him to distinguish whether it was reality or a dream.
No, this is reality, because he never dared to dream of something so wonderful.
Julius obediently closed his eyes, wanting to make a wish as everyone suggested.
However, he found that he had no wishes. What he desired could not be obtained, and he didn’t want to force it.
Except for Nancy, he didn’t want anything else.
In his heart, he silently wished: "Then I wish Nancy gets everything she wishes for."
Nancy once wished good things for Godfery Shaw, and Julius returned that wish to Nancy.
After making his wish, Julius opened his eyes and blew out the candles under everyone’s gaze.
Everyone clapped cheerfully, and Basil Smith controlled the lights to turn them back on.
"Cut the cake, birthday person, cut the cake."
Julius held the serrated knife and, under everyone’s watchful eyes, cut open the cake.
This was the first time in his life he sliced a cake, and it seemed it would also be the last.
As soon as the cake was cut, Nancy picked up Sophie Allen, and she used some cream to dot Julius’s face.
Julius looked at Sophie Allen with his usual cold indifference, but Sophie smiled at him.
Without realizing it, the smile gradually rose in his eyes.
This seemed like a signal—a signal that everyone could start having fun.
Nancy also took some cream and smeared it on Julius’s nose.
Emma Lewis ran over and rubbed cream on Nancy, disregarding whose birthday it was; she liked Nancy and wanted to smear cream on her.
Hailey Smith, daringly plastered her brother’s face first and then spread it all over Julius.
Luna Summer saw her boss joining in and also joined in.
Julius, who had always been abandoned by the world, finally joined this cream battle.
He smiled, appearing so happy.
Nancy also smiled, hiding the inner melancholy beneath her smile.
Lastly, the mischievous Hailey Smith was besieged, realizing she couldn’t escape. She shouted: "Okay, okay, everyone stop. The cake’s not meant to be wasted. Let’s save some to eat. Now it’s time for gifts, time to give gifts. I’ll go first. My gift will melt."
Everyone, covered in cream, stopped and wondered, what gift could melt?
Hailey Smith successfully escaped from being besieged, feeling clever, and hurried to get her gift.
Julius opened it to find a small ice sculpture tree.
Everyone couldn’t help but laugh.
Basil Smith said with mock irritation: "You’ve been messing with this thing for days?"
Emma Lewis unreservedly mocked: "Who gifts ice sculptures?"
Hailey Smith proudly lifted her head: "What do you know? This is an ice pop made of sugar. When did you see the Second Young Master eat ice pops? In life, many things should be tried! The gift may be small, but the sentiment is weighty; it’s quite meaningful."
Hailey’s personality was always lively, so gifting something like this was normal.
Everyone was speechless, but Julius carefully snapped off a branch to taste. Hailey was right, there were many things in life he wanted to try but never had the chance.
Hailey eagerly asked: "Is it good?"
Julius nodded: "It’s good."
At this moment, he seemed to have escaped the deep abyss of malice, resembling a normal, innocent person full of worldliness, carrying the youthful innocence that had a touch of boyish charm.
Julius asked for the ice pop gift to be put in the fridge.
Sophie Allen directed two bodyguards to carry over a large box, smiling broadly: "Mr. Shaw, this is my gift to you, go ahead and open it."
Julius was in a good mood today and opened it as she asked.
A LEGO castle, ornate and intricate enough to amaze people.
Sophie cheerfully said: "Mr. Shaw, do you like it? This is my favorite LEGO, the one and only in the world, giving it to you, happy birthday."
Everyone familiar with Sophie knew how much she treasured her LEGO.
Moreover, this LEGO was the only one of its kind in the world.
She earnestly gave her most precious thing to Julius Shaw.
Staring at the LEGO castle, Julius softly said: "Sophie, do you know who I am?"
Sophie nodded: "I know, you are Mr. Shaw’s brother, also Mr. Shaw."
Julius looked blankly, realizing she knew who he was.
Even if he had once treated this child with great malice, the child still harbored full kindness towards him.
These gifts, these congratulations, were all meant for him.
"Thank you, Sophie." Julius slowly bowed his head and whispered: "And I’m sorry."
Julius apologized for the way he had once treated Sophie.
Back then, he didn’t think it was wrong to put Sophie in danger for Nancy, it was just innate malice, after all, he never really hurt Sophie.
Now he understood he shouldn’t have done that.
Sophie didn’t understand Julius’s apology but politely said: "It’s okay."
Robert Reed softly hummed, still unforgiving for when Julius hurt Sophie and Nancy, but with this apology, he was somewhat relieved.
