Chapter 402: Chapter 402: The man who curses himself might be the first!”_1
“Everything will be alright, trust me.” Yun Hao softly patted her back as he whispered, but his gaze was fixed on the open doorway ahead, his ears pricked for any commotion inside.
“I’m scared, I’m scared something bad will happen to Little Huzi. If something does happen to him, I won’t be able to live on.” Meng Yunhan was serious. Gaining something only to lose it, it would have been better to have never gained it at all; at least with never having gained, there would be no sadness in losing.
“Don’t say such things. If anything happens to you, what will I do?” Yun Hao chastised her with a stern face.
Ever since Meng Yunhan had married Yun Hao, he had always cherished her, treating her with the utmost care. Hearing her utter such despairing words now was enough to nearly suffocate him.
Meng Yunhan fell silent, her gaze resting on the doorway. If she could, she would rush in there and take a good look.
As soon as Lu Jianjun had entered the courtyard, he began to yell, “Lu Jingyi, Lu Jingyi, I know you’re home. Come out now, dad is sick. He’s in the hospital and he wants to see you.”
Taking a step behind Lu Jianjun, he stumbled a little, almost falling.
His words were both frustrating and helpless.
The helplessness stemmed from the fact that Xiaojun had finally acknowledged him as his father.
The frustration came from the curse he had been given by his own son – a curse of illness spoken right in front of his face. How could he not be angry?
“Lu Jingyi, Lu Jingyi, are you home or not? If not, at least call out! Anyway, the old man doesn’t have much time left, so it’s you who’ll feel sad.”
Lu Zhendong shot Lu Jianjun a fierce stare. To blaspheme against his own father like this – he must be the first!
“Lu Jingyi, are you coming out or not? If you don’t answer, I’m leaving.”
Lu Jianjun continuously monitored his surroundings. After yelling for a while with no response, he began to suspect Jingyi might not be home.
“Captain Lu, where does your daughter live?” He didn’t know which part of the courtyard Jingyi lived in.
Lu Zhendong responded arrogantly, “I, as the Captain, don’t know.”
How could he be a father and be so thwarted?
He denied it outright.
“Since she’s not home, you should at least know where she works, Captain Lu!” Lu Jianjun glared at Lu Zhendong with a hint of threat in his eyes.
“Is the Captain going to harbor criminals?”
Lu Zhendong furrowed his brow. “Xiaojun, Xiaojing is your sister. How could she possibly be a criminal? I don’t believe Xiaojing would do such a thing. You’re overthinking this.”
“We’ll know once we find her.” Lu Jianjun dropped that sentence, glancing around. Actually, just by looking at the clothes hanging outside, he could tell where Jingyi lived.
“Does she live here?” Lu Jianjun walked over to the room where Jingyi lived because the clothes outside were hers. He had seen her wear that skirt before.
“Lu Jingyi, Lu Jingyi, I will count to three. If you don’t open the door, don’t blame me for kicking it down.” Lu Jianjun called twice. The house seemed to remain silent, so he decided to issue a threat.

Outside, Meng Yunhan was already impatient.
“Let’s go in and see.” Without Little Huzi in sight, her heart could not rest. It soared in fear.
Seeing his wife struggle to move towards the house, Yun Hao quickly followed her.
Lu Jianjun saw that after all his yelling, the door still wasn’t opened.
“Sister-in-law, Captain, why are you here?” Lu Jianjun heard footsteps and turned back to see them entering.
“Is Jingyi here? If she’s not home, where would she bring Little Huzi? If we can’t find them, I’m going to report this to the police. The law will then be waiting for her.” Meng Yunhan’s eyes were so bloodshot from worry. She pulled her gaze onto Lu Zhendong, pronouncing every word with clarity and resolve.
