Chapter 969: Chapter 963: Unaware of the Boudoir_1
“Alright, alright, you’ve been working hard, dealing with Qin Xue must be challenging for you.” The old lady looked at her grandson-in-law with increasing satisfaction, wondering when their other granddaughter, Xiao Qiu, will also find a husband.
“No, Qin Xue is wonderful.” Chu Molin was caught off guard by the comment and didn’t quite know how to respond.
“You always stand up for her, but I’m well aware of her personality.” The old lady still saw Qin Xue through the lens of the past, so when Chu Molin defended her, she assumed he was just trying to put in a good word for Qin Xue. Little did she know that Chu Molin was simply stating the truth – Qin Xue had indeed become an exceptional person.
“Hello, Grandpa and Grandma. I am Qin Xue’s friend, Fang Xiu. I’ll be staying in your house this year.” It was only after Fang Xiu finished greeting everyone else that she turned to greet the elderly couple by writing, as only Qin Xue and Chu Molin could understand sign language.
She hadn’t expected Qin Xue’s reaction upon arriving home, so she was initially a bit dazed herself. She waited until the end to extend her greetings, hoping not to come off as rude.
“Hello, why mention about politeness? Your visit brings more life to our home; don’t be overly formal. Rest assured, we don’t stand on ceremony much here. You can consider it your own home.” The old lady was initially puzzled by the pregnant woman’s arrival, but soon understood that she was a friend.

“Alright, thank you.” Fang Xiu hadn’t expected Qin Xue’s family to be so approachable. It wasn’t surprising that Qin Xue had such a character given her harmonious family. Such environments nourished strong personal traits that stood out, unlike her own upbringing where she was constantly told to be reserved. Her mother always advised her to be patient, and she grew accustomed to it even though she wasn’t naturally submissive. This was probably why she and Jing Xin had such a strained relationship.
“Qin Xue, you can stay in your original room, and take Fang Xiu to the room where your sister is currently staying. The bedding and everything has been washed.” Nangong Shulan arranged their accommodations.
“Alright, mom, I understand.” Qin Xue nodded, even though she had no idea which room was hers, and which one belonged to her younger sister, Qin Jiale.
“Lele, take Fang Xiu there yourself. Your brother-in-law and I will bring the luggage over first.” Qin Xue turned to her younger sister and instructed her.
“Okay, sis. Hurry, Auntie said dinner’s almost ready.” Qin Jiale was none the wiser and led Fang Xiu to the room her mother had mentioned.
“Xue’er, let’s take the luggage over, and then we can come back.” Chu Molin understood Qin Xue’s veiled words – she didn’t know which room used to be hers before marriage. So, he took the lead, playing the role of the ‘guide’ adeptly.
“Okay, I’ll carry this.” Qin Xue’s eyes crinkled in a smile. She admired how this man always understood her; he instantly knew what she meant. It was fantastic.
“Sure, you can pick any.” Chu Molin lovingly looked at her. Even if she didn’t carry anything, it would be fine – he could. He only suggested her to pick something to cover up her unfamiliarity, not as a mandate. But since she offered to help, he didn’t stop her.
“Mm-hmm.” Qin Xue certainly understood Chu Molin’s intent. And precisely because of that, she insisted on carrying something. She couldn’t just burden him with everything just because he pampered her.
Chu Molin took Qin Xue to her former room. Everything was just as it had been, which made him realize how much her parents cherished her – they had maintained her room just as it was, even after her wedding. All the room furnishings reflected her past preferences, not necessarily the ones Qin Xue currently held dear.
