Reborn in a cultivation world with my Ex girlfriends-Chapter 62: A Date? No, It’s a Duel!
Chapter 62 - A Date? No, It’s a Duel!
The competition might have ended in a draw, but the tension between Wang Li and Yue Xinyao was far from over.
"You two were holding hands!" Mu Qingling hissed the moment they left the arena.
Lin Ruoyan folded her arms, giving Wang Li a long look. "Are you... actually serious about her?"
Wang Li blinked. "Serious? About what? It was just a match."
Mu Qingling grabbed his robe and shook him. "Then why did you look like you were about to kiss her?!"
"Hey, hey, relax!" Wang Li pried her hands off, rubbing his temples. "I was just going along with the competition flow."
Lin Ruoyan sighed. "Then why is she coming this way?"
Wang Li froze.
Sure enough, Yue Xinyao was walking toward him, her long silver hair flowing behind her, eyes locked onto his with an unreadable expression.

"Uh-oh," Wang Li muttered.
Yue Xinyao stopped right in front of him. "Tomorrow. Sunset. Be there."
Wang Li blinked. "Be where?"
She leaned in slightly, voice lowering. "The Moonlit Pavilion."
The entire group fell silent.
Even passing disciples stopped mid-step, staring.
Mu Qingling covered her mouth in shock. "The Moonlit Pavilion?! That's the most romantic place in the sect!"
Lin Ruoyan's eyes widened. "Are you asking him out on a date?!"
Yue Xinyao did not react to their gasps. She just stared at Wang Li, waiting.
He scratched his head. "Uh... are we talking about the same Moonlit Pavilion?"
"Obviously," she said. "Unless you're scared?"
Wang Li narrowed his eyes. "Scared? Of a sunset stroll? Please, I fear nothing."
Yue Xinyao smiled slightly. "Good. Then it's settled."
She turned and walked away, leaving absolute chaos in her wake.
Mu Qingling grabbed Wang Li's collar. "What did you do to make her ask you out?!"
Lin Ruoyan shook her head. "No, no, this isn't just a date. This is a challenge."
"Challenge?" Wang Li raised an eyebrow.
"Yue Xinyao never asks anyone to the Moonlit Pavilion unless she's testing them," Lin Ruoyan said. "If you fail... she'll never acknowledge you as her equal again."
Mu Qingling gasped. "So you have to impress her?!"
Wang Li groaned. "Great. Another trial."
But deep inside... he wasn't complaining.

The Next Day – The Moonlit Pavilion
The Moonlit Pavilion was a legendary place, perched atop a mountain with a perfect view of the sunset.
Wang Li arrived in his usual robe—casual but confident—only to find Yue Xinyao already waiting.
She wore a different robe than usual—a light blue dress embroidered with silver moons. She looked... softer.
He smirked. "Wow. You actually dressed up."
She glanced at him. "You... didn't."
"I figured my natural charm was enough."
She rolled her eyes. "Let's begin."
"Begin what exactly?"
She stepped onto the wooden floor of the pavilion. "A duel, of course."
Wang Li sighed dramatically. "A date that starts with a duel. How romantic."
She smiled. "If you can't keep up, you can always run away."
"Now you're just flirting," Wang Li said, stepping forward.
Their auras clashed instantly, filling the pavilion with a quiet storm of spiritual energy.
And just like that, their date duel began.
The air around the Moonlit Pavilion crackled with spiritual energy as Wang Li and Yue Xinyao faced off. The setting sun bathed the pavilion in hues of gold and crimson, but neither of them paid attention to the breathtaking view.
Their focus was on each other.
Yue Xinyao's silver hair fluttered as she took her stance, her delicate fingers forming a seal. "Are you ready, Wang Li? Or do you need time to prepare an excuse?"
Wang Li smirked. "I was born ready. But don't cry when I win."
She chuckled. "How bold. Let's see if you can back it up."
With a flick of her wrist, an icy mist spread from her feet, covering the pavilion floor. The air grew chill, and small frost petals formed around them.
Wang Li grinned. "Trying to freeze me? I thought this was a friendly duel."
"Is that why you're smiling?" Yue Xinyao's voice was as cool as her technique.
She stepped forward, and a wave of frost energy surged toward Wang Li. He barely had time to react before the icy mist coiled around him like living vines, trying to trap him.
But he was faster.
With a twist of his body, he unleashed his Dragonblood Flame, his palm igniting with golden-red fire that melted the encroaching frost in an instant.
Yue Xinyao's eyes flickered with surprise. "Impressive."
"Flattered," Wang Li said, dashing toward her.
Their clash was like poetry—her movements fluid and graceful, his aggressive and unpredictable. Every strike, every step, every glance carried an unspoken conversation between them.
He sent a fiery punch toward her, but she dodged, barely brushing against his arm as she flipped backward. A flicker of a smile played on her lips.
"Oh? You almost touched me," she teased.
Wang Li chuckled. "Give me a second. I'll hold your hand properly."
"You wish."
She vanished in a swirl of icy mist, reappearing behind him. A burst of frost energy shot toward his back.
Wang Li reacted on instinct, spinning around and grabbing her wrist mid-attack.
For the first time, Yue Xinyao's eyes widened in surprise.
They stood frozen in place—his hand wrapped around her delicate wrist, her face inches from his.
The world stilled.
Even the wind seemed to pause.
"Got you," Wang Li said, his voice lower than before.
Yue Xinyao blinked. Then... she smiled. "Did you?"
A sudden chill ran up his arm—before he could react, his entire hand was encased in ice.
Wang Li groaned. "That's cheating."
She tilted her head. "You said you'd hold my hand. I'm just helping you."
"Funny," he muttered, breaking the ice with a burst of flame.
She laughed—a soft, genuine sound that made Wang Li's chest tighten for reasons he didn't want to admit.
"I'll give you credit," she said. "You're more fun than I expected."
"Likewise," Wang Li replied, rubbing his wrist. "So, do I win?"
Yue Xinyao gave him a long look before stepping closer.
"Let's call it a draw," she murmured.
For a moment, he thought she was going to strike again. But instead, she reached out and brushed a stray lock of hair from his forehead, her fingers lingering just a second too long.
Wang Li swallowed.
Then, without another word, she turned and walked away, disappearing into the mist.
Leaving Wang Li standing there, staring after her.
"...What just happened?" he muttered.
From the bushes, Mu Qingling and Lin Ruoyan popped up, their eyes shining with gossip.
"Wang Li," Mu Qingling gasped, "did you just flirt your way through a duel?!"
Lin Ruoyan crossed her arms. "I don't know if I should be impressed... or concerned."
Wang Li sighed. "You two were spying?!"
Mu Qingling grinned. "Of course! This was way too good to miss!"
Lin Ruoyan smirked. "So? What's the verdict? Are you two in love now?"
Wang Li groaned, rubbing his face. "No! It was just a duel!"
Mu Qingling and Lin Ruoyan exchanged knowing looks.
"Sure," they said in unison.
Wang Li sighed. His life had just gotten way more complicated.
