"It wants to get close to me? It’ll have to see if it has the ability," Shangguan You said lightly. She summoned the Water Chains, which wrapped around the monster’s remaining half, binding it firmly in mid-air.

"Chains of Gold, go!" Shangguan You uttered softly. Spiritual Energy, gleaming with golden light, intertwined with the Water Chains, once again binding the frenzied half-insect tightly.

With a thunderous rumble, blood splattered everywhere in the confined space. The half-body suspended in mid-air was blasted into pieces. Its fragments scattered across the ground, only to be instantly devoured by the dense swarm of insects below, leaving not even a trace of blood.

SQUEAK, SQUEAK, SQUEAK! The two monsters shrieked, their originally green eyes slowly turning blood-red. They opened their mouths wide, devouring the flying pieces of the corpse, and rapidly swallowed them down. Their bodies visibly swelled at an astonishing rate.

"Not good! They’re absorbing power!" Shangguan You shouted, as she and Lin Mengjie flanked the two monsters, attacking from left and right. With two loud BANGS, the entire space shuddered violently. Even the sole partition wall separating their areas was shattered by the force.

"Girl, are you alright?" Shangguan Hao and the others asked anxiously, watching the figures in the air. The gory scene unfolding before them startled them once more. They had thought *they* were in a desperate struggle for survival. But upon witnessing the true battlefield where Shangguan You and her mother fought, everyone’s faces turned ashen. Li Lan and Liu Ruoling even began to vomit uncontrollably.

"I’m fine! You all back off! Do not approach here!" Shangguan You shouted, waving her hands. A pale blue mist rose, once again forming a barrier. A thick ice wall once again divided the space in two. Through it, they could clearly see Lin Mengjie and Shangguan You fighting, but they remained powerless to help.

"Girl, back off! I’ll handle this!" Lin Mengjie waved her hands, forcing Shangguan You several steps back. She quickly formed hand seals, and a powerful burst of multicolored light shot towards the two monsters.

With a loud BANG, the entire space shone brightly. The two monsters’ bodies were thrown backward, slamming heavily against the ice layer. The ice began to crack at a visible rate.

After unleashing such a powerful strike, Lin Mengjie staggered back, a trickle of blood escaping the corner of her mouth. Shangguan You quickly moved forward to support her.

"I’m fine! Act quickly!" Lin Mengjie pushed Shangguan You away, signaling her to act quickly.

"Mommy, I know!" Shangguan You shouted, as the Water Chains and Chains of Light simultaneously struck at the two monsters. Their location was too precarious. If Shangguan You were to fire her cannon, it would undoubtedly reopen the passage, allowing even more creatures to swarm in.

"Reckless fools!" Lin Mengjie shouted, waving her hands. A sweep of multicolored light flashed across the ground, instantly eliminating half of the dense swarm of insects. She paid little heed to these smaller insects, but the larger monsters were a different matter and couldn’t be ignored. Ye Dashao had been turned into a monster by a single bite from a small insect. If these escaped, wouldn’t many more like him be created?

Separated by the thick ice, Shangguan Hao’s entire focus was on Lin Mengjie and Shangguan You. One was his wife, and the other his daughter; he desperately wished the ice barrier before him would vanish so he could rush to their aid.

"Second Uncle, they’ll be okay," Shangguan Qing said as he dealt with the insects around him, quickly trying to reassure him. With his Second Uncle’s mind elsewhere, Shangguan Qing found it somewhat strenuous to handle the insects alone.

"Shangguan Hao, snap out of it! You call yourself a soldier! Now your wife and daughter are protecting you. Are you going to just wait here to die?" Lin Wenbo shouted, his voice so powerful it made the already trembling space shudder violently.

"Sorry, Dad," Shangguan Hao said, snapping back to reality. He could no longer be protected by others; instead, it was his turn to protect his wife and daughter. With Shangguan Hao rejoining the fight, the others inexplicably felt a surge of relief. Although no new insects were emerging, the ones already there were growing larger and seemed impossible to fully eradicate.

"SQUEAK, SQUEAK, SQUEAK!" The two monsters, bound cruciform in mid-air, shrieked eerily, their eyes blazing red. Shangguan You suddenly sensed an abnormal excitement emanating from them.

"Girl, wait! Something’s very wrong!" Lin Mengjie shouted, trying to stop Shangguan You. But with a deafening ROAR, Shangguan You unleashed her most ferocious attack yet. She poured a significant amount of Spiritual Energy into this attack, determined they wouldn’t survive.
