Chapter 650: Chapter 650: I am not Lin Mengjie (4)_1

"For hundreds of years afterward, I remained in slumber, nursing my injuries and fostering my health. All the while, the conflicts between the realms settled down, until eighteen years ago, when intense fluctuations in the fabric of space once again awakened me," came Lin Mengjie’s cold voice. She spoke as if she weren’t talking about herself but narrating a story that needed to be told, or recounting someone else’s tale.

What she was referring to was the incident where Young Master Ye entered the secret chamber, opening a spatial rift and thereby allowing extraterrestrial entities to invade. Her description was similar to Young Master Ye’s account. However, at that time, the wounds Lin Mengjie had suffered two hundred years earlier had not yet healed. This was why she allowed Young Master Ye to escape. 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖

But the person who had intruded two hundred years ago, the one Lin Mengjie mentioned—who could it be? To have injured even Lin Mengjie and managed to flee without any consequence or disturbance was indeed extraordinary.

"The human infected back then was quite powerful in this dimension. Unfortunately, by opening the spatial rift, his body became a host for the alien entities. Those entities were cunning, slowly integrating him into their fold, conducting research gradually, and infecting one person after another," Lin Mengjie continued in the same cold, indifferent tone. She was referring to Young Master Ye.

"Is that host still human?" Shangguan You asked, her gaze sweeping over Young Master Ye the Second. Seeing his calm demeanor, she slowly opened her mouth to speak further.

"He is human, yet at the same time, he is not," Lin Mengjie stated, her cold eyes briefly flicking to Young Master Ye the Second. "He is also a creature of another realm. We cannot tolerate such beings here. Its existence would doom countless others to suffer the same fate."

"So, how do we deal with this alien?"

"It won’t stray far from the secret chamber. It can sense the location of the chamber, and it’s obsessed with figuring out how to open the passage, transforming this place into something like its own realm, thereby controlling countless humans."

"Are you really not Lin Mengjie? Then where is the real Lin Mengjie?" Zhuge Feng and Shangguan Hao asked simultaneously, scrutinizing the Lin Mengjie before them. She appeared beautiful, yet everything about her seemed like an illusion. Shangguan You was vividly alive, but Lin Mengjie had a somewhat ethereal, fairy-like existence, as if she could disappear at any moment.

"Where is the Lin Family’s Lin Mengjie? Did you take over her body and turn yourself into her?" Young Master Ye the Second shot Lin Mengjie a look and asked coldly.

"In this world, there never was a Lin Mengjie. The Lin Family does not have such a person, and I certainly have not taken anyone’s body," Lin Mengjie’s voice echoed in everyone’s ears once more. The Lin Family doesn’t have a Lin Mengjie?

"Impossible. Grandfather and Uncle loved Mommy so much; she can’t not exist." Shangguan You shook her head in disbelief, stunned by Lin Mengjie’s claim. Was Lin Mengjie truly just a fictional character? How could that be when so many people knew her, recognized her, and even the Lin Family cherished her so dearly?

"Even if you’re not our aunt, you don’t have to deny the existence of Lin Mengjie. Even if you don’t recognize us, there’s no need to speak that way, hurting their feelings," Lin Wenjie’s voice traveled over, and the twenty-something members of the Shangguan Family were now approaching.

"Mengjie, it hurts us when you talk like this, do you know? After more than twenty years of sisterhood, how can you just overturn it all with one sentence, deny it all because of a remark?" Liu Ruoling looked at Lin Mengjie with a trace of sadness, remembering the deep memories she had of Lin Mengjie. It couldn’t be that there was no Lin Mengjie.

"Mengjie, even if you want to blame Shangguan Hao, you shouldn’t say such things," Shangguan Zhi spoke gravely. He had witnessed the events between Lin Mengjie and Shangguan Hao in the past. It was Lin Mengjie’s insistence back then, and then his own subsequent persistence, that led to Shangguan Hao marrying Li Wanying. "No matter what, we were at fault toward Lin Mengjie. If Lin Mengjie has to hate or blame someone, she should blame me, certainly not Shangguan Hao."

"If you want to hate, to blame, then blame me. I too played a part in the events of the past. If not for me, things between you two would not have turned out that way. We also didn’t know you were seriously injured and comatose at that time; otherwise, we wouldn’t have entrusted you to a stranger."

"Mengjie, I too was a witness to the matters between you and Shangguan Hao. You are indeed alive in this world. Although you are a Guardian, you are also Lin Mengjie. That’s something you cannot deny or change," Zhuge Feng said, taking a few steps forward and gazing at the Lin Mengjie before him. This Lin Mengjie seemed so unfamiliar, her unfamiliarity frightening him. Lin Mengjie’s figure flickered, and she floated mid-air. This encirclement gave her a sense of crisis, yet this crisis came from humans who posed no actual threat to her.

"Whether you believe it or not, what I am telling you is the truth. I am not Lin Mengjie," Lin Mengjie’s cold voice entered everyone’s ears again, and the snow, which had stopped, began to fall once more.

As the snowflakes drew near Lin Mengjie, they automatically parted to either side.

"I can’t explain it clearly. You’ll have to see for yourselves," Lin Mengjie said icily, her hands quickly forming a strange seal in mid-air as she murmured a few words of a Spell. Suddenly, a huge screen appeared in the snowy sky, resembling a television, upon which scenes unfolded one after another.

The crowd gaped, their eyes fixed on the screen that had materialized out of nowhere. They watched, mouths agape in astonishment, as scene after scene unfolded. Zhuge Feng and Young Master Ye the Second were equally stunned.

Shangguan You watched the unfolding scenes and was inexplicably reminded of the visions of past lives and present encounters she had witnessed in the Hidden World Village’s space.

Under the dark night sky, with snowflakes swirling, in the outskirts of Beijing’s plum grove, pristine snow fell from the heavens. Lin Mengjie hovered mid-air, radiating a multicolored radiance. In the darkness of the night, a huge screen displayed vivid scenes, continuously changing and alternating.

On the screen, the histories of the Lin Family and Shangguan Family were clearly documented, including the decline of the Shangguan Family and how they then allied with the Yu Family, one operating in the open and the other in the shadows. The abundant details unfolded like a movie before the eyes of the onlookers.
