Reborn Heiress: Seeking Revenge-Chapter 62 Warmth (1)_1
Chapter 62: Chapter 62 Warmth (1)_1
Ye Sanshao’s lips curved into a devilish smile, his hands, as refined as those of an artist, gently caressing the lips he had just kissed, savoring again and again the electric thrill of the moment.
"Interesting. Interesting," Ye Sanshao murmured to himself as he watched, until Shangguan You vanished into thin air, disappearing from his line of sight. Only then did Ye Sanshao, who had been lying down, sit up abruptly.
His slender hand gently stroked his chin, an amused smile tugging at his lips. Slowly, Ye Sanshao retracted his gaze.
"Ye Ying," Ye Sanshao’s seductive lips parted slightly, and a dark shadow appeared out of nowhere behind him, head bowed respectfully, awaiting instructions.
"Go and protect Shangguan You. Don’t let those old fogies in Beijing find out, and they certainly must not take her away. She is mine now, and no one is allowed to lay a finger on her." A remarkable glint flashed in Ye Sanshao’s eyes. It seemed that in his long life, he had finally found someone interesting.
"Yes," Ye Ying answered in a low voice and once again vanished from the room in an eerie fashion. His movement technique was similar to Ye Sanshao’s when he disappeared, unlike that of an ordinary Hidden Guard. They seemed to have no shadows, no life, merely beings suited to dwell in the darkness.
"HEHEHE." Ye Sanshao chuckled softly, a pleased smile on his lips. He hadn’t expected to finally find her.
Emerging from the space, she took a bath in the Spring Water contained therein, the fragrance of fresh lotus wafting from her body. After changing into comfortable clothes, she leaned lazily on the couch, watching Zhang Ma busily tidying up and continuously talking about household affairs.
Shangguan You idly played with the remote in her hand, not really paying attention to what was on TV; instead, all her attention was devoted to listening to Zhang Ma’s narration. novelbuddy-cσ๓
"That vixen Li Qiuying! If she hadn’t used such dirty tricks, the Young Madam would never have divorced the Young Master. Nor would she have left the Miss on her own at the Shangguan Family to endure that vixen’s bullying. And that illegitimate brat—who knows if it’s even a Shangguan’s offspring! Upon the Miss’s return, with the Old Master’s backing, she must certainly deal with that despicable mother-daughter duo. I dread to think what kind of mischief they might try to pull on the Miss this time. The Miss must be extra careful! Food, drinks, clothes—everything must be scrutinized. The Miss must never consume anything they provide."
"I suspected that damnable mother-daughter duo was behind the Miss’s accident last time, so the Miss must be fully prepared this time. I plan to have the Lady send a few people to protect the Miss; this time, they won’t be allowed to take advantage of her again," Zhang Ma droned on, sighing as she regarded Shangguan You.
Seeing how frail she looks, can she really stand up to that despicable mother and daughter? Zhang Ma worried. While returning to the Shangguan Family is a good thing, it also means exposing the Miss to danger once more.
"Zhang Ma, I won’t let anyone bully me," Shangguan You said, flinging herself into Zhang Ma’s arms. Though Zhang Ma was fussy, she was the first person since Shangguan You’s rebirth to offer her warmth. The ’Lady’ Zhang Ma mentioned... that must be my mommy, she thought. Although curious, her memories of her past were blurry, painted with images of a mother whose tenderness was like water.
"Miss, Zhang Ma is getting old and can’t always be by your side. The Lady isn’t with you either, so you must take good care of yourself and never let anyone else bully you again. If it hadn’t been for the Lady’s insistence on taking you away from the Shangguan Family back then... and then what happened afterward... the Lady wouldn’t have had to come to an agreement concerning you. Alas." Zhang Ma wiped a tear, her heart aching for Shangguan You. For a full half-year, only the Old Master occasionally called to check in; the rest, it seemed, had already forgotten Shangguan You, the legitimate daughter.
Shangguan You, all ears for news about her mother, didn’t even realize when Zhang Ma had abruptly stopped talking.
"Zhang Ma, I know," Shangguan You murmured, comforted by the distinctive scent of sandalwood in Zhang Ma’s embrace. No need for her to say more, she figured. After all, upon my return to Beijing, I’ll find out everything.
She took out a bottle of Youth-preserving Pills and another of Jade Dew Pills. She then took one pill from each, fed them directly into Zhang Ma’s mouth, and handed her both bottles. Though Zhang Ma’s body is already aging and her bones set, consuming these elixirs will, at minimum, strengthen her body and allow her to live a few more years, Shangguan You thought. Perhaps Zhang Ma might even achieve immortality.
"What’s this?" Zhang Ma felt an exquisite fragrance spread from her mouth, followed by a warm sensation throughout her body, which invigorated her.
"I bought these at a drugstore under the You Group not too long ago," Shangguan You said with a hint of coquettishness. "These are really good. I saw in an advertisement that people of your age, Zhang Ma, could become younger and have their health significantly improved by taking them."
"At my age, what’s the use of these? The Miss should keep them for herself."
"Zhang Ma, I bought a lot. These were bought especially for you. Besides, I’m still growing and don’t need these. Zhang Ma, this is a token of my affection; you can’t refuse," Shangguan You insisted charmingly, her heart clinging to the warm familial affection.
Anyway, these pills will soon be on the market. They’re made from herbs from my space, so taking them out early doesn’t risk discovery.
"Alright, alright," Zhang Ma accepted them with a smile.
"Remember to take them every day. By next year, I’ll be looking at a thirty-year-old Zhang Ma, HAHA."
"The Miss is getting better at sweet-talking," Zhang Ma commented.
The room was filled with joy, which also helped to dispel Zhang Ma’s worries.
In the midst of such high spirits, the doorbell rang quite timely.
"Miss, Zhang Ma will get the door." Releasing Shangguan You, Zhang Ma moved to answer it, muttering to herself, "Who could it be? We don’t really have any friends here, do we?"
Upon opening the door, she saw two tall figures in sunglasses. Both had bluish-purple bruises at the corners of their mouths—clearly people who got into fights often and usually came out worse for wear. Zhang Ma’s heart skipped a beat. If they hadn’t spoken so politely, she would have slammed the door shut instantly.
"Hello, we are friends of Shangguan You. May we ask if she is home?"
