Reborn Heiress: Seeking Revenge-Chapter 617 Truth (5)_1
"I can help you leave this place. Do you wish to leave?" Shangguan You asked coolly. The real Shen Cheng wants to live a comfortable life, but it won’t be that easy, she thought. Even if he desires it, he’ll need my permission.
"Why? Why do you want to help me? What are your conditions?" The fake Shen Cheng sounded somewhat alarmed. He woke up to find himself here, and no matter what he said or how he explained it, no one believed his identity. He harbored immense resentment towards the man called Shen Cheng. He had nearly been committed to a psychiatric hospital; fortunately, he had learned to keep quiet after that.
"No conditions. Do you want to leave or not?" Shangguan You’s words were just as cold.
"Yes," the man nodded. He would rather take a gamble than stay here for the rest of his life. He was convinced he could escape and live freely again.
"Do you have any family members?"
"I’m an orphan. I was suddenly knocked unconscious and woke up here. My name is hacker," the man shook his head. "To this day, I still don’t understand why this happened to me. Although I have no background or status, I’m still a human being, yet I’ve been inexplicably ensnared in someone’s plot."
"Heh, I will rescue you," Shangguan You chuckled. Could this man’s luck truly be so abysmal? He resembled Shen Cheng by about half; no wonder that good-for-nothing old man Shen Po tossed him here as Shen Cheng’s substitute.
Shen Cheng wants to escape? This time, I’ll make him a pariah, a street rat chased and beaten by all. Let’s see where he can run then!
"Thank you, Miss. But won’t you get into trouble for helping me out like this? If helping me causes trouble for you, Miss, I’d rather not leave." An unintentional remark from hacker changed his life. Looking back on it later, hacker was always secretly glad. It was fortunate he had said those words, for they elevated his life from hell to heaven.
"Heh, since I dared to come, it naturally won’t be a problem. Let’s go. If you have nowhere else to go, you can head to the You Family Drugstore and find Zhong Mingyang. Stay hidden there for a while." Shangguan You nodded. This man, at least, is sensible, she thought, appreciating his forthright nature.
"Thank you, Miss. I know what to do," hacker nodded. He knew that the mastermind, upon learning of his escape, certainly wouldn’t let him off the hook. He had to hide, or he’d be dragged back to be a scapegoat again.
hacker felt as if he were dreaming. He had just spoken, and before he could even process it, he found himself standing in the midst of the night market. He had no idea how he had gotten out, and right before his eyes was the You Family Drugstore.
Shangguan You glanced at the dumbfounded hacker, and a smile touched her lips. With a flicker of her form, she sped towards the Inferno Gang’s headquarters. Shen Po is there, so Shen Cheng must be too, she mused. I’d like to see how long Shen Po intends to hide.
The Inferno Gang’s headquarters were shrouded in darkness.
A white figure streaked rapidly across the sky, swiftly leaping toward the Inferno Gang’s headquarters. After Shangguan You had broken through level 6 of the Medicine King Canon, both her movement techniques and speed were many times faster than before. Her journey from the school auditorium to the research institute, and then to the prison, had taken her only a single hour in total.
It was now eleven o’clock at night—not too early, not too late—when her figure appeared at the Inferno Gang’s headquarters.
In stark contrast to the darkness elsewhere, the Inferno Gang’s compound was brightly lit. Even the main hall was exceptionally well-illuminated, with figures moving about and voices drifting out intermittently. They were clearly reveling.
Shangguan You, concealed in the shadows, observed the figures seated in the main hall, a smirk playing on her lips. Zhuge Ao certainly knows how to live it up, she thought. To be so composed in such dire straits, still drinking and flanked by beauties on either side... Truly impressive.
If Zhuge Feng didn’t still harbor some affection for Zhuge Ao, despite his hatred, how could Zhuge Ao possibly be so at ease and self-indulgent right now?
In the hall, Zhuge Ao was embracing beauties; Shen Po sat to his right, and Shen Cheng to his left. Although Shen Po and his grandson weren’t Cuddling beauties like Zhuge Ao, they too each had an alluring woman by their side.
The entire hall was permeated by the strong aroma of alcohol, accompanied by the delicate laughter of women.
"Junior Brother, for us to be feasting and drinking here... this is rather inappropriate, isn’t it? If the Young Master finds out, we’ll be in serious trouble," Shen Po said, a note of worry in his voice. He was well aware of the kind of life Zhuge Ao was leading now. Weren’t their current actions a direct challenge to Zhuge Feng?
"What’s so inappropriate about it? The entire Inferno Gang is in their hands now, and we’re mere figureheads. Since we’re just figureheads, then we might as well play our parts convincingly. Enjoying good food and wine daily, with people to wait on us—it’s not too shabby," Zhuge Ao declared, downing the wine in his cup in one gulp, his face flushing red from the alcohol.
Zhuge Ao roughly groped the alluring woman beside him, then fiercely planted a kiss on another woman’s face. Since he couldn’t vent his anger directly, he was releasing his pent-up frustration and resentment at being sidelined in this debauched way.
"Junior Brother, this is the Family Head’s directive; we cannot defy it." Shen Po’s brow furrowed, and he heaved a deep sigh. The villa in the suburbs had been seized, so he couldn’t return there. The properties registered under Shen Cheng’s name had also been confiscated. If Shen Cheng hadn’t just been swapped back, and if it weren’t so dangerous outside, he would have taken his grandson and fled this wretched, suffocating place long ago. He had even contemplated disappearing to another city, living under an assumed name, and never returning.
"Grandfather, I actually don’t think what Gang Leader Zhuge is doing is entirely wrong. Since they’ve stripped away the Gang Leader’s authority and are essentially keeping him as an idle dependent, he might as well embrace the role of an idler. Wouldn’t that put their minds more at ease?"
Shen Cheng chuckled. After a few days of rest, his body had recovered, and he was once again the gentle, handsome young man he used to be. With a flourish of his arm, he drew the woman beside him into his embrace. 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂
"Hahaha! Senior Brother, see? Your grandson knows how to enjoy life! Come on, let’s drink! We won’t go home until we’re drunk! Tonight, let’s party hard and do whatever we please!" Zhuge Ao roared with laughter, then poured another gulp of wine down his throat.
