Reborn Heiress: Seeking Revenge-Chapter 615 Truth (3)_1
"Girl, it’s quite simple. I was backstabbed, capsized in the gutter, then thrown onto a ship, where I just happened to run into her. She was quite unlucky too, becoming my antidote by chance," Lin Wenhao said with a self-deprecating smile. It was a stain on his life he had not even shared with his family. Because he still hadn’t figured out who had set him up. That woman was really foolish. Her sister had conspired against her, and he’d just happened to come along, kicking those three men overboard. He’d had no choice but to turn to her, and now, the look of panic in her eyes still occasionally flashed through his mind.
Back then, he had barely escaped and couldn’t let anyone see his face, so for the first time, he left a woman behind and jumped out the window to flee. After handling what needed to be dealt with, when he thought of her again, he heard news of her eloping with someone. Then came the overwhelming news on the internet. He followed it for a while and even contemplated seeking justice for her through the newspapers.
So when Shangguan You woke up, she saw media reports presenting both positive and negative versions of the truth. However, subsequently, for various reasons, Lin Wenhao stopped investigating. He knew something had happened but couldn’t find any clues. Not even her body was found. And with Old Mr. Shen’s death, even if he revealed the truth, it wouldn’t matter. She wouldn’t come back to life.
"I have something to discuss with you," a cold voice said, as Ye Family’s Second Young Master pulled Shangguan You and walked out.
"Wenhao, I’m fine. I have something to take care of first. Let Qing and the others know," Shangguan You said swiftly, allowing Ye Family’s Second Young Master to pull her away from the hall. Lin Wenhao’s eyes narrowed as he watched the two leave.
Having kept the secret deep inside for many years, Lin Wenhao now felt much lighter revealing it. Although it was the most foolish thing he had ever done, he felt it was all worth it. Yet, his failure to investigate further left him with some regrets.
"Let go of me. If there’s something to say, just say it." In a corner, Shangguan You shook off Ye Family’s Second Young Master and spoke coldly. Do all these people behave like robbers? Can’t any of them speak properly, instead of just pulling and dragging people around? She detested this feeling of being yanked about.
Ye Family’s Second Young Master narrowed his eyes coldly at Shangguan You. "Are you in a bad mood?"
"Whether I’m in a good mood or not is none of your concern," Shangguan You retorted coldly. If someone else were in her position, they would be even more upset, furious even. She was already maintaining her calm quite well; she had to admit her temper had been improving.
"Hmph, when will the Ye Family start their cleanup?"
"What’s the rush? We’ll do another cleanup after your older brother leaves," Shangguan You said indifferently. "He won’t come."
"How do you know he won’t come? I’m sure he will, and it will be tonight," Shangguan You scoffed. Ye Family’s Second Young Master was a failure in his role. His power within the Ye Family was even less than Ye Min’s. This was why, to some extent, he could still maintain his position as the second son. Otherwise, he would have been the first one they dealt with.
"Clarify that for me," demanded Ye Family’s Second Young Master, his eyes narrowing and a cold aura emanating from him, chilling the air around them.
"I’ve made myself clear. Wait for me in the parking lot after the banquet. I’ll take you to see a big show, just so you believe," Shangguan You said indifferently, her figure vanishing before Ye Family’s Second Young Master in a flash.
"I have to leave for a bit. I’ll come find you after the banquet is over," Shangguan You’s voice carried from a distance, her form already over a hundred meters away. The cold wind sobered her up.
Alas, Youyou sighed deeply. Wenhao... A bitter smile crept onto her lips. The events on the yacht in her past life emerged before her eyes, one by one. That was the beginning of her fall from heaven to hell—and also the end. That man, that cold man, was Lin Wenhao. The man she had never met in her past life had, in this life, become her relative. Should she laugh? Cry? Curse out loud three times? Or roar at the heavens, ’Damn it all, are you having fun messing with me?!’ She had taken her revenge on Shen Cheng and Wanqian, but what about Lin Wenhao? Shangguan You’s heart was in turmoil again. The first time she saw Lin Wenhao, her heart had fluttered, but she had deceived herself into believing it was all just a coincidence. There were so many men in the world; many looked alike. However, tonight, from Lin Wenhao’s memories and his words, Shangguan You had seen the scene from that time. Wanqian had arranged for at least three men on the yacht. It was because of Lin Wenhao’s intrusion that all three were tossed overboard. Even if Lin Wenhao had wronged her, he was also her savior. He had even done many things for her after her death. Lin Wenhao only gave up after her grandfather passed away. This Lin Wenhao... was he a benefactor or an enemy?
With a bitter smile, Shangguan You’s figure streaked through the air, heading toward a secret research facility in Beijing. She moved like a ghost within the heavily guarded facility, invisible even to the surrounding cameras.
Past the multiple layers of security, Shangguan You’s form flashed into a white research room. With a wave of her hands, two busy doctors immediately fainted to the floor. On the white hospital bed, a frail figure slowly opened her eyes.
This person was Wanqian. Her once delicate features were now reduced to skin and bones, and she was completely pale. Even her once sharp and formidable eyes were now unfocused. Her body was pierced with numerous needles and surrounded by countless research instruments, large and small. A loose hospital gown hung on her.
Her usually unfocused eyes glanced over Shangguan You and then moved away. But then, the previously tranquil Wanqian suddenly became agitated.
Mustering strength from somewhere unknown, she sat up in bed, and the instruments connected to her body also went CLATTERING to the floor.
