Chapter 83: A ride

Amelia reached the royal palace, pacing in her room with a bit of insecurity.

She didn’t want to be here. She wanted to go to the Sin Banned Pack, not to stand with Killian, but to uncover the truth about the old woman’s death.

It wasn’t just about her image before Killian, but about her ethics before Professor Kinsley and the University forum.

He didn’t just question her morals, but her profession as a healer.

She had helped countless people despite hating them. How dare he forget everything and make her a culprit?

Not being able to sit still, Amelia locked the door and walked to the balcony.

Since their bedroom was on the first floor only, it was easy for her to jump into the bushes from the balcony.

She looked around at the tight security before throwing a pebble at the corner.

The guards immediately perked up and walked to check what the sound was all about.

She used this chance to climb the walls and jump on the other side, utterly oblivious that the security footage, which covered the entire garden, covered her every action.

The guards on the fourth floor, busy eating noodles, looked at the footage and furrowed their brows.

Was this their princess jumping over the wall?

His fingers lingered on his phone, but he thought she might be having a little fun and didn’t call King Cyrus immediately.

After all, everyone was aware of all the attacks on her.

He will report it if she doesn’t return before King’s return.

Amelia hailed a cab to the Sin Banned Pack and waited for the cab in an isolated area when a bike stopped right before her, making her step back suspiciously.

She looked at the familiar man, and her pupils dilated, remembering their last encounter.

"What are you doing here?" She nearly gasped.

Kyle opened the flap of his helmet and smiled at her inwardly, making her look into his amber eyes for the first time.

"Where are you going?" he asked.

Since she had walked quite a reasonable distance from the royal palace and was walking hurriedly towards the market area, she thought the man didn’t know she was married to the King.

"I am just taking a walk around my house. Is that a crime?" She asked defensively.

Kyle looked at the girl before he got down from his bike.

Amelia stepped back cautiously before she turned around, ready to run away.

However, the man used his supernatural powers and gently grabbed her, slamming her against the nearby tree.

"Why do you even try?" He asked, his eyes looking into hers as if searching for something.

"You are worried about Killian? About his mother?" He asked.

Amelia noticed how observant he was about her. He looked at her like he was peering into her soul, trying to read what her heart desired at the moment.

She shook her head.

She wanted to tell him that she wasn’t worried about the man when Kyle removed the leather gloves from his hand and tilted her head, inspecting the mark on her neck.

She noticed his gaze turning a shade darker and gulped.

"Don’t go anywhere. I did it," The man paused before he shifted his gaze from her neck to her eyes.

"I killed that old woman," he confessed.

His words shocked Amelia.

Multiple questions rose in her head, and she was about to voice them when the man spoke again.

"I will remove everything anyone would use as leverage against you. You are important to me," Kyle said, placing his forehead on hers, letting the helmet’s plastic touch her skin.

"You might be my mate, but you can’t change my fate," Amelia whispered, unsure what she was talking about either.

"I don’t intend to change your fate, Amelia. I intend to be a part of it. I can tolerate that King near you because you married him, and for some reason, I don’t feel any hostility towards him, no matter what, but apart from that man, if any guy tried to have designs on you... Well, it’s better not to discuss it," Kyle said.

He pulled back a little before leaning and tilting his head, placing his lips on hers, still wearing a helmet. For him, it was the thought that counted.

"My husband can kill you," Amelia whispered, pushing him away.

Kyle stumbled back, letting her do as she desired; he had taken a step further.

He removed the helmet, ruffling his hair with his hand, and Amelia’s heart skipped a beat at his actions.

He was beautiful, not more than King Cyrus, but enough to make her heart move and feel contemplative.

"Then, I’ll die for you," Kyle said.

He walked to her and took her hand, kissing the back of it, his gaze not leaving hers in a silent provocation.

"You are playing with fire," Amelia said.

"I was ready to burn in the flames of your love the moment I decided to love you, the moment you saved me, your hands touched me, and I knew you were my mate," Kyle admitted.

Amelia paused.

Now she remembered. This was one incident that didn’t happen in her last life.

She never saved Kyle, which was probably why she didn’t meet her mate.

Would her life have been different if she had met him in her last life?

"Leave before someone sees you." Amelia turned around, discarding the idea of going to the Sin Banned pack.

However, if she thought the man would leave just like that if she said so, she was wrong.

Kyle walked to her and put his helmet on her.

He lifted her bridal style and placed her on the bike.

"Only 10 minutes. That’s all I want," He said before sitting behind her and starting the bike.

His hands trapped her on the bike, and she couldn’t get off in time as he started the bike and accelerated.

Amelia was never a fan of sports bikes or cars, so she couldn’t help but shriek when she felt the cold wind hitting her face.

She turned and hid her face in Kyle’s chest.

Kyle, who hadn’t expected her to react like that, felt his balance staggering as his heart clenched in excitement. He looked down at her for a moment before gulping.

"I’ll slow down. Enjoy it," Kyle whispered. For the first time, he rode his bike at 70km/h, so she was less scared and could enjoy the night air.

Amelia loosened her grip on his shirt and sat properly, her head still on his chest as if she were afraid she would fall and die if she let go.

She started enjoying the ride, feeling this new experience was worth admiring.

The adrenaline rush made her forget about Killian’s loss or the uncovering of the truth. At that moment, she wasn’t a girl who had to undergo rebirth to undo all the mistakes from her past life.

At that moment, she was just a girl enjoying her life.

"Can you teach me how to ride it?"

The words left her mouth before she could control them, and Kyle applied the brakes in surprise, causing the bike to lift a little from the back.

Amelia closed her eyes, ready to expect a fall, but the man had just done a back wheelie and put the bike down, making it bounce a little due to impact.

"What did you say?" He asked.

The girl opened her eyes a little.

"It’s nothing," She said when she felt everything was fine.

"I will teach you. Don’t come wearing a dress next time. You gotta keep your legs on either side," Kyle grinned.

Amelia blushed at his words before returning to where he had picked her up.

"Take care of your throat. And regarding Killian, would you prefer if he were gone too?" Kyle asked.

Amelia’s pupils dilated at his choice of words.

"No!" She nearly exclaimed.

The man had thought otherwise and would have gotten angry if it were another time, but since he was in a good mood, he nodded and left.

Amelia touched her throat, the area he had touched, and felt a weird sensation in her body. It was almost as if her body was accepting him as her mate.

But she was falling for King Cyrus. How was she supposed to deal with this?
