Chapter 267: My legs walk perfectly fine

Ariel managed to wiggle her hands free from the bind but still kept them in that position till it was time to attack. She looked at her legs. They were a bit numb from carrying that bomb for such a long time.

It wasn’t very heavy, not up to Rachael’s weight at least but since it was staying in one spot for so long, it was bound to make her legs numb.

While Serena was busy on her phone, she looked at the gun hanging on her other hand and then at the bomb. She had to get rid of one of them.

Then, she glanced at Raymond who, to her greatest surprise, had his head raised and was glaring at Serena.

How was that possible? She saw him get shot. How did he still have the energy to...?

Their eyes met and Raymond smiled, mouthing the words, ’Just trust me’.

Seeing this, she felt so much better. It was relieving to know that things were going according to his plan and not the other way around.

She knew it was strange that he came here on his own and decided to die so easily but she didn’t think he had a full proof plan like this.

And Serena, she was probably fooled since Raymond was one who would do absolutely anything for Ariel, even if it meant giving his life.

’I know what I can do now.’ she told herself and got up from her chair. Raymond didn’t know what she had in mind but he decided to have her back and protect her no matter what.

"These stupid guys, why is no one answering me?" She cussed and kept trying to contact her backup squad. She felt someone approaching though, but she was too late to react as the first thing Ariel did was kick her legs and put her on her knees.

It was easier and safer to take the gun out of her hand when her grip was loosened due to shock.

She took the gun but Serena gritted and wanted to fight back but unfortunately, she was too slow and Ariel shot her legs, permanently rendering her on her knees.

"You bitch, you can walk?" Serena yelled in anger while Ariel walked over to the other side where Raymond was, to Serena’s horror, he was getting to his feet and taking off his soaked coat.

"My legs work perfectly fine." Ariel said and handed the gun to Raymond. "I just don’t walk since Steve told me it would lessen my inconvenience."

Serena was short of words. Not only had she been fooled by Ariel both by Raymond too? How was he alive and standing perfectly well? She shot him. She shot home everywhere aside from his head so how...?

"Your greatest mistake was not aiming for my head first." Raymond said and revealed that his suit was custom-made into a bulletproof outfit.

It was an advanced material. It also had materials that served to reduce the impact of the bullet to prevent the user’s bones from breaking in the process.

And not only that, there was even fake blood to deceive the attacker that they had actually landed a hit.

Thanks to Raymond’s flawless acting, he was able to see it through and completely put her off guard.

Serena fumed. Her eyes were wide with fury. She couldn’t believe it. She couldn’t believe she got played like this.

No, she wouldn’t take it. She decided to just blow them all up including herself. She had come this far, she would never let them have their happily ever after.

"Ahhhh." She screamed but before she could carry out any of her devious suicidal thoughts, Raymond shot her.

He shot her shoulder and she gripped it, screaming crazily but it didn’t look like she was screaming out of pain but out of frustration and anger.

"I’ll kill you." She yelled. "I’ll kill you, you rotten son of a bitch. Ahhh."

Ariel glanced at the bomb. At this moment, only one thought came to mind.

"What are you doing?" Raymond asked, watching her go towards the window.

"Being careful." She said, opened the window and picked up the bomb. It was as heavy as she thought, since it had been pressed on her for so long.

She suddenly carried it to the window and threw it out the window, as far as possible in case it detonated after hitting the ground.

"That’s better." She said.

"Mhahaha." Serena suddenly started laughing maniacally like she had a devious plan in her head. "Do you think it’s over? I have bombs all implanted in me." She laughed and Raymond raised his gun to hurry up and finish her off but she chuckled. "Go ahead. But know that once my heart stops, the bombs will detonate." She said and laughed.

Ariel was worried. That meant they couldn’t kill her. What to do now? They couldn’t let her stay alive. She was honestly too dangerous.

Raymond gritted his teeth and shot her other shoulder, rendering all her limbs useless.

"I won’t let you go, no matter what." He said and took out his phone that had been in his pocket the whole time.

He dialed a number and said,

"Bring them up." He cut the call and looked at Serena who was squirming in pain. "I didn’t want to give you a quick death so I prepared extra. But it seems I’ll have to give you a quicker death than I planned. You deserved nothing more than to burn." His eyes flared as he threatened her.

Serena didn’t know what he had in mind but she could tell it was bad. This was not how she expected things to unfold.

She was supposed to use herself to threaten them but he wouldn’t even take the threat.

"Your limbs are all broken so there’s no way you’ll escape this."

Ariel sat down for a moment. It had been so long since she stood for so long that she easily got tired.

It looked like things were going to be resolved soon. She wondered if they would finally get rid of this obstacle.

Then, she remembered Rachael had been kidnapped as well.

"What about Rachael?" She suddenly asked and hearing this, Serena cackled.

"They’re probably blown to bits by now. You’ll never win. Even if you get out of there alive, those children will die. Haha. That’s what you get for choosing love over blood." She screamed out laughing once more but Raymond did not respond to this provocation and rather, went ahead to answer the call he coincidentally got at this time.

It was Maxwell.

"They’re safe." He simply said, and Raymond closed his eyes, feeling relieved.

"Thank you."

"What about you? Are you done over there?" Maxwell asked. "I reckon the suit was of good use."

"Yes, it was very important. Thank you once again. Please get the children home. We’ll be there soon." 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

He cut the call and looked at Serena with a mocking gaze and a victorious grin.

"You see, we’ve already won."
