Reborn for Revenge: Find her Fated Alpha-Chapter 151: Turning tables on him
Something was wrong. Years of experience told him that the girl he was facing wasn’t the same healer and outcast that Cyrus had married.
Her eyes... They were full of confidence and defiance. They looked into his eyes...no... bore into his eyes as if trying to look directly into his soul and unbury the deepest secrets that he kept hidden from the entire world.
Dominic looked around to see if anyone was equally shocked as he was.
They definitely looked surprised that she called herself his queen, but they appeared more proud than fearful.
How was this possible? Did they not suspect her?
Or did they know something that he didn’t?
He turned to his people to see if they had some similar expression, but when he didn’t see them looking at her differently either, he realised it was him... just him, who could see that little change in her eyes.
But why?
"You–" Dominic started, but Amelia just softened her expression.
"Is something wrong, Uncle? I don’t know what you are talking about. What is even my fault that you are treating me like this?"
Tears brimmed in Amelia’s eyes as she looked at him with a wronged expression.
"Is it because I am King Cyrus’s unofficial and unannounced wife? Because I am a healer and easy to bully? Or is it because you want to vent your anger on me, that you can’t on my husband? Please tell me the reason so that I can be mentally prepared," Amelia fell on the carpet, looking devastated.
Miss Quinn shook her head.
Their princess was too innocent for this cruel world. Why must she bear any of that? Why must she prepare herself for any humiliation?
She didn’t deserve to be treated like that.
Dominic’s gaze darkened when he looked at Amelia’s tears rolling down her cheeks.
He wasn’t angry because he felt guilty, but because he could see right through her facade.
He didn’t know if it was his angle, but the little smile tugging at her lips, which she hid very well behind her hair as she looked down, was visible to him, and he knew she was pretending to be innocent and helpless.
She wasn’t helpless, and she definitely didn’t fear him.
"Very well. You don’t know why I’m here. Let me spell it out for you one more time. I am here because you dared to infiltrate my territory in the middle of the night. You were in Bentley state tonight, sneaking into my place, into the abandoned areas where not even my people are allowed. What were you doing there?" Dominic asked.
Amelia’s smile faltered a little.
It was confusing for her as well. She clearly remembered returning from the Killian’s pack. She was going to change and sleep when she saw her own shadow standing near the balcony.
It was shocking for her.
It was like looking at her reflection, but she wasn’t. The person before her looked like her, but their sharp eyes told a different story.
It was almost as if her inner voice came outside to knock some sense into her and help her through the mysterious mark and the secrets around it.
One moment she was standing in the bedroom, and before she could realise, she was already running in the dungeons of the Bentley Estate.
That shadow, which looked like her, took her there, guiding her through the palace. And she saw something.
Amelia wasn’t sure if what she saw was even a person. It was hard to see in that kind of darkness, but something was definitely chained in the basement dungeons.
Before she could reach out and see it clearly, she heard someone’s step, and they placed a hand over her mouth, pulling her out of the area.
It turned out to be none other than Kyle.
She knew all this had happened. But even after that, she had no recollection of doing these things herself.
It was as if she were in some kind of dream, and if Kyle hadn’t dropped her here and helped her sneak inside the palace when she woke up from a deep sleep, she would’ve thought it was a dream only.
Even Kyle was annoyed at her for some reason, as if she had done something she wasn’t supposed to do. And for some strange reason, while she remembered everything else, she did not remember her interaction with Kyle.
Amelia schooled her expression and looked at him with a quizzical expression.
"Your estate? Are you sure about it? Was it me?" She asked.
Miss Quinn’s assuring expression told her that the housemaid had already informed Cyrus, and the man would appear here anytime soon.
"Do you think I am lying?" He asked, his eyes turning dark with each passing second.
"You are," Amelia said confidently.
"What evidence do you have that I was there? Because I surely have the evidence that I wasn’t there," She said.
Dominic narrowed his eyes.
"Don’t play games with me, little girl. I am the master of the school where you are learning these tricks. Do you really think you can fool me? I smelled your presence," Dominic said.
Amelia nodded.
"And who else?" She asked.
Dominic paused, his eyes turning into slits.
Why did it feel like the tables were turning on him? He felt a sense of déjà vu hit him. The only difference was that this time he was the one being fooled and not the other way around.
"What proof do you have that you weren’t there?" He asked.
Amelia blinked her eyes innocently.
"I returned from Sin Banned Pack some time ago. You can confirm with Alpha Killian if you want. I had a life and death case with his beta’s sister who was pregnant," Amelia said.
Dominic clenched his teeth.
"Do you really think I will believe that crap? There is surveillance here, right? Let’s see when you exited and returned," Dominic smirked.
Amelia froze for a second.
’Think, Amelia. You need to do something. You can’t let him have the upper hand, not until Cyrus is here,’ Amelia fisted her hands and rushed to the man.
"Please don’t treat me like this, Sir Dominic. I know you hate the sight of me because I am Cyrus’s wife and you want to avenge your son’s failure by hurting me, but please stop this. If my husband came to know, he wouldn’t like this," Amelia started pleading, tears rolling down her cheeks.
Dominic narrowed his eyes.
This facade again.
"You–"
"Dominic!" A sharp female voice echoed in the hall, and Dominic turned around, his pupils dilating when he saw his mother standing at the entrance.
Amelia immediately pretended to flinch and fell to the side.
"Please," she whispered, coughing loudly as if choking on her saliva.
"Have you lost your mind?" Amora walked to the man before raising her hand and slapping him hard across his face.
Never in her life had she raised her hand to her kids, but after seeing and hearing what he did, how could she remain calm?
Although unofficial, Amelia was Cyrus’s wife, their daughter-in-law, and, most importantly, a woman.
How could he enter someone’s bedroom and pull the girl out to humiliate her? What was he aiming at?
"Mother," Dominic raised his voice in disbelief, his gaze shifting to his sister, Rosaline, and his wife, Elysia, who looked down at their feet, not intervening.
"What? Have you forgotten your manners now? Do I need to remind you how to behave with your daughter-in-law? So what if she is your brother’s daughter-in-law? Does that make her any less respectful? Any less royal?" Amora asked.
Her hair was stiff, her eyes shining amber, a clear indication that her wolf was dominating her.
Dominic fisted his hands.
"Mom, you don’t know what this bit–"
"I dare you to complete that sentence."
A cold, slow, yet dominant voice said, and the family paused.
They turned to look at Cyrus. He wasn’t just angry. He looked pissed.
"Your wife infiltrated my place." Dominic wasn’t backing down either.
Cyrus looked at Amelia for confirmation, and when the girl didn’t shake her head to deny, he scoffed.
She was growing quite daring—his naughty wife.
"Evidence?" He asked.
Amelia smiled inwardly.
The subordinates looked down, not wanting to be drawn into the royal family’s tensions. Though they were visibly surprised by how similar the King and Queen’s minds worked.
"She called herself my queen. Everyone heard that," Dominic said.
This made Amora turn to look at Amelia. She made it quite clear that the queen trials were to take place. How could she say something like that?
"And? I am the King. She is my wife. What does it make her?" Cyrus asked.
Amora was about to interrupt, but Cyrus raised his finger.
"That’s not what we are here to discuss. What we are here to discuss is how dare you enter my bedroom when I wasn’t home? How dare you grab her hand and pull her out, disrespect my wife? She could’ve been in a complicated position. How dare you humiliate her?" Cyrus asked.
Rosaline licked her lips. She could see that this was going to take an ugly turn and was about to intervene, asking Cyrus to calm down and explaining that Dominic didn’t mean that.
However, before she could say anything, everyone felt his presence, causing them to stiffen.
"Is this true?" Grayson asked.
The old man stood at the entrance, his aura matching the dominance of the corner Alpha King.
He looked at Amelia, who was only dressed in a nightdress, her legs quite revealed while she grasped her hand close to her chest, as if wronged.
He closed his eyes for a second, remembering what that mage said.
They dared to disrespect this girl who was supposed to bring havoc to the world.
"Do you want to die?" Grayson’s words shocked Dominic.
This was the first time he was using that kind of language with him.
Amelia, on the other hand, smirked inwardly.
