Reborn for Revenge: Find her Fated Alpha-Chapter 134: Sweet corn
"Have you been waiting for long?" Cyrus asked from behind Amelia.
Rather than honking the car and having her sit inside immediately, he wanted to get out and make the effort to escort her to the car himself.
He didn’t know if it would make much difference, but he felt like these little efforts were what meant most in a relationship.
Amelia turned around with a soft smile before shaking her head.
"I bought something for you," she said.
Cyrus raised his brows and looked at her hands.
"Sweet corn?" He asked.
Amelia’s eyes turned into a crescent shape as she nodded with a big smile.
"Don’t you love it?" She asked.
Cyrus looked at the corn in her hand. His lips twitched a bit before he took the cup from her hand and took a spoonful of corn.
Rather than feeding himself first, he extended his hand towards her, and Amelia chuckled at him.
"Don’t worry. I haven’t poisoned it," She said before taking the food.
Cyrus’s hand froze for a second. He didn’t think she had poisoned it. He just wanted to offer it to her first and...
Was that what she thought he would think about her? He wondered.
"Let’s go," he said, not saying anything nonetheless as he proceeded to take a spoonful of corn.
The taste was definitely Savory. The added flavours burst on his tongue, the spiciness making him feel a little better.
He hadn’t realized he liked spice-flavored sweet corn until now.
His brows furrowed. Why didn’t his subordinates ever notice such a thing about him?
Was it because of the mark?
Sylas rolled his eyes at his human counterpart.
Are you seriously going to blame everything on the mark on your neck? Sylas’s words echoed in his head, and Cyrus sighed.
Right before Amelia could enter the car, Cyrus brought out the bouquet of roses and offered it to her.
To say Amelia was surprised would be an understatement. She looked at the roses with raised brows.
"For me?" She asked.
Cyrus nodded.
She nodded back and sat inside the car.
Cyrus’s brows knitted in confusion. She didn’t look exactly happy.
He went on his side and sat inside with a scowl and was about to ask if she didn’t like them when she suddenly spoke.
"You didn’t have to bring flowers, Mr. Fabian," Amelia said.
Fabian, who was busy messaging Miss Quinn and telling everyone of what was going on, pushed the phone between his legs before looking around.
His gaze met that of his King, and the man’s expression didn’t look too good. If it were possible, he would’ve been buried 6 feet under already.
"I didn’t buy them for you, princess," Fabian said.
Amelia looked at Cyrus.
Did he buy her flowers? Why suddenly? Was something the matter?
She tried to think about everything she had done recently and licked her bottom lip nervously.
She hadn’t chosen immunity over the queen trials. He was pretty angry about that. Do these flowers signify something like farewell that would soon doom them?
Amelia’s fists clenched around her dress, and she forced a smile onto her face.
"Thank you," she whispered.
Cyrus’s grip tightened around the cup. He could feel that Amelia wasn’t comfortable. She didn’t like it.
The thought made him want to grab the bouquet and throw it out of the window, but he didn’t want to act impulsively either.
After a short drive, both were busy with their thoughts, and they reached the Grand Palace.
"I wanted to discuss something with you, King Cyrus. Let’s meet after I freshen up," Amelia spoke gently, like a lady before she took the bouquet with her inside.
Once inside, Miss Quinn, who was already rushing to meet the Princess because she heard about the attack and knew she was wounded, stopped abruptly when she looked at the black flowers in her hands.
"Who the hell wants to wish death upon you? And why are you even carrying them?" Miss Quinn was about to grab the bouquet and throw it out when Amelia hid it behind her.
"No one wants to wish death upon me. These flowers signify deep, passionate, intense, and mysterious care. Black roses mean enduring commitment," Amelia looked at the roses before turning to look at Cyrus briefly.
"I promise the person who gifted them to me that I will never let go of this hope and endure everything as long as he is with me," Amelia said before she smiled and walked to the stairs, leaving.
Fabian looked at Miss Quinn with troubled eyes.
"Our princess sees good in everything. She has found such a beautiful meaning behind such ominous flowers. Who is even hateful and stupid enough to give her black roses?" Miss Quinn asked.
Fabian cleared his throat, glaring at Miss Quinn, who was too oblivious and wasn’t ready to read the room.
He tried to signal to her that it was their very King who bought those flowers, but before he could do anything, Cyrus spoke.
"I bought them," Cyrus glared at the housemaid, and then, without waiting for a reply, he went straight to his office.
Miss Quinn, who was left speechless, looked at Fabian and Trevor to see if she was in deep trouble.
However, the duo shrugged their shoulders and left their king behind.
Once inside the office, Cyrus scowled hard.
"Sir, we got in contact with Stone. He is known to be Kyle’s direct subordinate. He said that the rogue head is ready to meet us, but he would do it tomorrow before the King trials," Fabian said.
Trevor scoffed at his words.
The security around the stadium hosting the king trials was top-notch; no one was allowed to enter without a pass due to the presence of the alpha and council, along with all the prominent figures.
Some kings of other species were also invited just for fun, as this was seen as an opportunity to gather and discuss some vital topics.
"He is quite delusional if he thinks that he would be able to cross all the security and reach the king," Trevor said.
Cyrus didn’t say anything for a few seconds.
"He will. I have full confidence. He will surely show up if he is saying," Cyrus said.
Remembering Amelia was wounded, he wrapped the work quickly before walking to the bedroom.
