Chapter 109: Kyle’s people

"What the hell is going on?" Amelia asked when she saw seven rogues trying to drag a wounded girl towards the forest.

She looked at the crashed car, and it wasn’t hard to understand what happened there.

"Mind your own business, girl," The rogue said.

Lilithia was barely conscious because of the shock, and one of the rogues had hit her head with a bat so she would stop struggling against them.

She could smell her blood.

She tried to pry her eyes open to see who the person was who was trying to fight for her.

"Leave her if you want to stay alive," Amelia didn’t ease her stance.

Kael and Sky looked at each other.

Fighting the seven rogues wouldn’t be hard since they were in much better conditions, but what if there were more rogues?

It would be practically jumping into a lost cause without proper knowledge.

And while they understood this, they didn’t want to let these rogues hurt this girl either. Their conscience would never allow them to do that.

They stood firmly behind Amelia, ready to fight the rogues on one call.

"Did you just threaten us? Do you even know how many of us are here?" One of the rogues asked.

They felt more rogue behind them as soon as he said those words.

Kael and Sky stiffened, but Amelia didn’t flinch.

"There could be 100 more rogues here, and I would still stay persistent. Let go of her if you want to stay alive," Amelia said.

She looked at her mark, which was starting to glow black.

She closed her eyes briefly. Her body was summoning her energy, ready to strike if a fight broke out.

Lilithia looked at the girl who stood, resilient and unforgiving, facing the rogues like a true warrior and envied her.

Rather than attacking her or threatening her more, the rogues smirked and looked at her with raised brows.

For some reason, he found this situation really funny.

He let go of Lilithia’s hand, nodding at his people, who let go of the girl, and the girl fell on her knees.

"Who are you really? Even the strongest royal guards would think twice before claiming something like that. Are you nuts?" The rogue asked.

Amelia thinned her lips.

"I am proud because I know none of you will dare to touch me if you came to know who backs me up," Amelia said.

"Do you even know whose team we belong to? We are from Kyle’s team. Do you know him? The rogue head who kills without mercy," the rogue tried to threaten her.

Amelia chuckled. She wasn’t a fool to use Cyrus’s name here and get into more trouble. She had planned on using Kyle’s name from the very beginning because she had seen the rogues respecting and fearing this name in her last life.

"Well, that makes the two of us," Amelia tilted her head.

"Do you want me to call your leader and ask him to let her go?" She asked.

Kael and Sky, who had stiffened earlier, looked at the girl in shock.

Was she for real?

It was good to be delusional and use that to win an argument, but not in a position where you could die.

It was definitely not true. If it was, why would she need to create her own army if she knew Kyle?

And if she was lying, it was a terrible time to do that.

"How do you know Kyle? How do you relate to him? We know he is an orphan and doesn’t have any siblings. We are in his direct team. So we know he has no female friends, and you are definitely not a rogue. Do you think you can fool us?" The rogue asked.

He walked to her and was about to touch her face, finding her more pretty and desirable than the last, who was wounded terribly and reeked of blood.

However, before he could touch her, she smacked his hand away in anger.

He was about to retaliate by grabbing her hair when he stopped.

"I am indeed related to Kyle. I am–" Amelia paused when she suddenly felt somebody’s warmth behind her.

"You are what, sweetheart? Let me hear it."

She heard the familiar voice whispering into her ears, and a pleasurable shiver ran down her spine when he placed his hands on her, almost hugging her from behind.

The rogues who were mocking the girl earlier suddenly froze. They didn’t know what to say or how to react anymore.

Was the boss really hugging a woman from behind like that?

And was he smiling for real? Not a smirk, but a genuine smile.

"Let go," Amelia pushed him back before turning around and glaring at him.

"I am not related to you in any way. Stay away from me," Amelia spat.

The rogues were dumbfounded. Just a minute ago, she was flaunting her knowledge of him, but now that their boss was here, she said she didn’t want to interact with him.

What was going on?

"Do you know who she is?" Kyle asked, his gaze moving to Lilithia.

"I don’t know and I don’t care. I just know that your people are in the wrong. She is wounded and needs to be treated. I didn’t know you were one of those people who hurt innocent people," Amelia said.

Kyle chuckled at her words.

He didn’t want to laugh, but how could he not when she spouted such words?

"I never claimed to be an angel, my angel," Kyle held her hand before he pulled her close to the girl who was barely keeping her consciousness on the ground, fighting back mentally to keep her eyes open.

"She is the same girl whose father has ordered us to kill you. A contract of 20 million has been made," Kyle said.

The words made Amelia freeze in her place.

What did he say?

Someone gave him the contract to kill her for twenty million?

Kyle observed her expression and smirked inwardly.
