22: 22 is waiting to the side

Su Xiaofeng only then noticed a young girl quietly reading a book to the side, who closed her book upon hearing the uncle’s words and walked over calmly, “Dad.”

“This sister here wants all of our peaches.

Take her to our place to have a look, and show her the way while you’re at it.”

“Okay.” The girl named Qiu Ying glanced timidly at Su Xiaofeng and said softly, “Please follow me, our village isn’t far from the town.”

Su Xiaofeng and Su Peng followed the young girl toward Daba Village.

A shuttle bus stopped in the town, and Luo Yuzhu got off the bus holding a bag in her hand.

Looking around at the bustling crowd of market-goers, her eyebrows knitted together tightly.

The distance to Lihua Village was about nine li; walking there would definitely take about an hour, but without walking, there were no vehicles going in.

“Isn’t that Yuzhu?” As she stood on the street, pondering how to get to Lihua Village, Su Wu’s mother stopped her, “Yuzhu, you’ve come to the market too, that’s quite rare.”

Luo Yuzhu had an okay relationship with Su Wu’s mother; they both married into Lihua Village the same year, and each gave birth to a daughter and a son that year.

Luo Yuzhu stood up straight, “Su Wu’s mom, have you seen Xiaofeng?

I told her that I would wait for her at the bus station, and she would go back with me, but she’s been nowhere to be seen for half a day.”

“I just saw her over there; it looked like she was buying peaches with Pengzi or something.

So, you’re really planning to take over, is your husband okay with that?”

“If my husband didn’t agree, I wouldn’t be here,” Luo Yuzhu said to Su Wu’s mother and headed in the direction she had indicated.

Indeed, she saw several people selling peaches and plums, but no sign of the rascal Xiaofeng.

Standing in front of Uncle Peach Seller feeling rather annoyed, the peaches did look good though, “Hey, how much are your peaches per jin?”

“Fifty cents.”

“Give me three jin.” Luo Yuzhu raised her head and glanced at the sky; the sun was blazing overhead, it truly felt like one could die from the heat.

Initially, she wanted to buy two more jin, but considering how much she’d have to carry, she decided against it.

The uncle weighed out three jin of peaches for Luo Yuzhu.

“Big brother, did you see a young couple buying peaches here?

The girl is about eighteen, and the boy has some problems with his mind,” Su Wu’s mother mentioned that Xiaofeng and the others had bought peaches here.

“You looking for them for something?” the uncle asked casually.

“That girl is my daughter; she was supposed to wait for me at the bus station, but she disappeared.

This damn girl, I don’t know where she’s run off to,” Luo Yuzhu said anxiously, looking like she was truly searching for someone.

The uncle listened to her tone and looked at her attire, feeling it was indeed likely it was mother and daughter, “She went back with my daughter.”

He didn’t mention the business about looking at peaches.

Of course, the uncle had his own thoughts; the girl had said she wanted to buy his peaches, but what if the woman before him disagreed with what the girl wanted to purchase?

“This damn girl, really not giving me peace of mind, running off everywhere.” Luo Yuzhu fanned herself with her hand, “Will they be coming back here later?”

“My home is not far from here; they should be back soon.

If you’re in a hurry, you can wait over on the side,” Uncle Qiu said.

Luo Yuzhu had no choice but to stand off to one side and wait.

After about an hour of waiting, Uncle Qiu’s daughter returned.

“Dad, the sister took a look and says it’s possible.

She mentioned she needs to go to the city first, and she will come back and tell us what time she’ll want them,” Qiu Ying spoke leisurely, with her hair cut at ear-length, and looked serene speaking very little.

“To the city?” Luo Yuzhu, who had been waiting restlessly on the side, now sweating profusely, heard Qiu Ying’s words and her voice rose considerably.
