Chapter 559: 543 Full Moon Celebration (1)

Tian Sangsang thought that after giving birth, her pig-like lifestyle would finally come to an end. But now she realized there was more to come—postpartum recovery could feel just as pig-like.

Firstly, for some unknown reason, or maybe she had gone crazy, Ye Binyi started visiting her little grandson daily, bringing large and small bags. The large ones were for Tian Sangsang and Meng Shuyan, while the small ones were for Little Tangyuan.

Although the two kids, the older and younger one, weren’t very old, they were supposed to gift their mother with some of the presents they received. But honestly, she didn’t care much for the things Ye Binyi brought her.

She admitted that while both kids were registered under the Jiang Family’s household, it was merely ceremonial; she was raising them on her own.

And surprisingly, when Ye Binyi was nice, she was really nice—the kind of nice that sent chills down your spine. Was it Little Tangyuan’s birth that smoothed their relationship? Well, she wasn’t buying it.

Secondly, Zhao Chun, the guy, might have gotten too accustomed to caregiving. Now he was effortlessly taking care of everything.

Off the bed, he efficiently managed to change diapers, bathe Little Tangyuan, and feed him with... a bottle. On the bed, he treated her like some treasured pig. All she had to do every day was lie in bed, focus on eating, drinking, and other bodily functions. Her most crucial task was breastfeeding Little Tangyuan—she didn’t have to do anything else.

No grocery shopping, no cooking, no washing dishes.

As for laundry... it could pile up for later. She couldn’t bring herself to let Zhao Chun handle that.

Everything was handed to her, all meals were prepared; no hard labor, no touching cold water—just staying in bed. It seemed everyone had conveniently forgotten that she was a human, not some pig.

"Sangsang, I’ve prepared chicken soup with dried mushrooms..."

"Try this—it’s peanuts stewed with pig’s feet. Don’t like peanuts? No worries, I’ll stew it with soybeans next time."

"Red date sugar water boiled eggs—this time with extra red dates. You’ve lost too much blood, replenish it quickly!"

"I went outside to check—they’re not selling grapes or peaches, but I found apples and bananas." 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞

"Longan and white fungus red date porridge, pig liver stewed with spinach, lotus seed eight-treasure porridge—what’s your favorite? How about one bowl of each? Alright, let’s happily decide on that."

Thanks to the excellent postpartum meals, both Meng Shuyan and Little Tangyuan benefitted.

Meng Shuyan was fine; he was a self-restrained child who didn’t want to grow up crooked. Little Tangyuan was fine too; he wasn’t self-restrained, but his tiny tummy was only palm-sized—he couldn’t gain much weight.

But the most noticeable change was that Little Tangyuan had grown.

From a wrinkly little monkey, he transformed into a plump, chubby baby boy. Tangyuan truly lived up to his name, resembling a soft, glutinous dumpling that everyone adored. Yet, he was especially lazy, spending most of his time sleeping—probably twice as much as other babies.

During the day, he hardly cried, saving his wailing for nighttime.

He wasn’t interested in much of anything. Like right now, Zhao Chun was shaking a rattle, and it made a "dong dong" sound.

"Ah, ah-ah, ah-ah-ah..." Little Tangyuan mimicked the rattle enthusiastically, his tiny hands struggling to reach upwards.

Tian Sangsang gazed at him tenderly, stroking the short fuzz on his head. It seemed her son was fascinated by the rattle.

Meng Shuyan pursed his little lips: Hmph, silly little rascal. Playing with rattles at his age? He had long since outgrown such things.

Zhao Chun intentionally lowered his hand to accommodate Little Tangyuan. Little Tangyuan made excited "ah ah" noises, his shiny black eyes sparkling, grabbing Zhao Chun’s thumb and then began gnawing on it.

Without teeth, he didn’t manage much—just slobbered all over Zhao Chun’s hand.

Zhao Chun froze in place. What was this supposed to mean?

Tian Sangsang chuckled, easing the awkwardness. "I think Tang Yuan’er is hungry." She picked up the prepared milk bottle from beside her—it had cooled to a warm temperature—and was about to feed Tang Yuan’er when Tang Yuan’er grabbed her hand instead.

"..."

Tang Yuan’er loved chewing on fingers.

During her postpartum period, Tian Sangsang practically didn’t shower or wash her hair, only wiping herself down with warm water. She found it unbearable. Fortunately, it was winter, not summer—but winter was still tough. Who doesn’t bathe for an entire month? Especially when she usually showered once every day, no matter the season.

Luckily, right after giving birth, her belly was layered with rolls of flabby flesh, most of which disappeared over time, transforming into a slightly thicker waist. Good thing she had used a postpartum girdle early on, so the rolls gradually faded. As she’d paid attention to self-care during pregnancy, her belly didn’t develop stretch marks either.

One day, Ye Binyi showed up at the courtyard house again—this time on serious business.

Cradling her little grandson, Ye Binyi grinned from ear to ear, unable to contain her joy.

"Every time I see Little Tangyuan, he’s always asleep."

Tian Sangsang couldn’t help but comment, "Lazy."

Ye Binyi shook her head: "This child is blessed—born to enjoy life, cared for even while asleep. Back in ancient times, he’d be Emperor material, destined for greatness."

Tian Sangsang: "..."

Ye Binyi played with her grandson for a while before turning to Tian Sangsang. "In a few days, Tangyuan’s full moon celebration is coming up. I’ve already discussed with his grandfather—we’re hosting a banquet. The venue and menu are finalized."

Tian Sangsang was speechless. Ye Binyi’s tone clearly came off as more of an announcement than a suggestion.

Fearing her disagreement, Ye Binyi added, "The full moon banquet has to happen. Let’s celebrate with everyone—let them get to know Tangyuan. The full moon marks a milestone, as if going through the gates of hell and back. It’s a big deal. His grandfather and I are both thrilled for him."

On top of that, Ye Binyi invited the Hua Family to attend her grandson’s celebration—with her ultimate goal being Jiang Jinghuai. She hoped to evoke memories in her son through his grandson.

Tian Sangsang understood the significance of the full moon celebration and knew it was important. She suggested keeping it simple and hosting it at home instead. But judging by Ye Binyi’s tone, it seemed more elaborate than inviting a few friends and relatives. With mixed feelings, she agreed to attend the banquet.

Once her postpartum recovery ended, Tian Sangsang happily showered thoroughly, not sparing a single strand of hair. Her hair was darker and shinier than ever. Despite cutting it short during her pregnancy, it seemed to have grown quite a bit during her recovery—it was now long enough to tie into a small ponytail.

**

It was still winter, and the weather remained freezing.

On the morning of the full moon banquet, Little Tangyuan was decked out in jewelry. Around his neck was a silver collar, his wrists and ankles adorned with silver bracelets, and he was bundled in a thick red cotton jacket, resembling the lucky child from New Year paintings.

Meng Shuyan also wore a new outfit, but he wasn’t very warm toward Little Tangyuan, usually maintaining his usual aloof demeanor. Tian Sangsang figured he was still recovering from lingering feelings over his younger sister.

Reluctantly, Zhao Chun handed over Little Tangyuan to Tian Sangsang. Little Tangyuan seemed to sense something—usually an avid sleeper, he suddenly stretched his tiny hands, babbling and reaching toward Zhao Chun’s direction. "You all come back early, okay? This bag has bottles, diapers, and other things for Tangyuan in case you need them," Zhao Chun meticulously reminded.
