Reborn as the Third Prince: To Build and Conquer my way to Royalty.-Chapter 61: A starless old man.
Chapter 61: A starless old man.
After hearing what her son said, Elizabeth smiled.
"I can see you’ve made up your mind already."
"Are you disappointed?" Sylus asked.
Elizabeth didn’t give a quick response; instead, she pulled Sylus closer and gave him a warm hug.
Perhaps she wanted to cry and was just trying to hide her face. But throughout the hug, she never said a single thing.
Not until she pulled away, the smile still etched on her face.
"I could never be disappointed in you, my son. Please, do as you will. As long as you ask me for help every once in a while, I’ll be fine."
Sylus smiled back at her.
"I’ll do that."
"Good. While you’re at it, find a good wife to marry. I don’t care if it’s even Zani."
’There she goes again.’ Sylus turned his gaze to the side while his mother continued ranting about how Zani would be the perfect wife.
It was either he got married, or she took matters into her own hands.
Both of us wish Sylus would never agree to it.
Moments later, Sylus was heading toward a different location.
He had already involved his mother in his travel to Liyue the following day, so she was set on helping him arrange transport and everything else he would need.
Now, there was just one more person he needed to see before he headed back to his room.
Alfred.
Alfred was Martin’s right-hand man, and for good reason at that.
He was hardworking, often making sure everything in the castle and capital was running smoothly. On top of that, he was extremely loyal, always close to Martin since he was a prince.
There’s no doubt the entire situation was a huge blow to his honor as a Mystero. Cutting off your master isn’t as easy as it sounds.
Sylus suddenly stopped at the side of the training ground, and as expected, many of the soldiers were present, doing their early morning training.
It was quite easy to tell them apart from the color of their training uniforms—
All of which fell under the five great commanders in Verdenez.
Those in red were under the Astral Legion Corps, dealing with internal affairs and whatnot. freeweɓnovel-cøm
In blue were the Scouting Legion, dealing with gathering intel and undercover missions.
For the green, they were the Knights of Order, handling wars and all things beneath it.
Lastly was the Snake Regime, a single corps filled with only pure magic users, making them good for support.
There are often people under divinities that deal with stars, like those from the Fiona Kingdom, who are under the Divinity of Witchery, making their star blessings similar to magic and spells.
But of course, that wasn’t why Sylus was here.
After scanning the field for a while, he finally saw the man he was looking for.
Right there, in the midst of some younger soldiers, was Alfred, most likely offering them advice on how to become better soldiers in order to be later promoted to knighthood.
Attaining knighthood through honest work almost guaranteed a title from the world; it’s exactly why many people strived for that.
Zani would have gotten one as well, though Sylus still intended on making her get it from Martin.
With slow, steady steps, he began to make his way toward the old man.
As soon as the other soldiers spotted him getting closer, they began bowing their heads and greeting him.
Sylus wasn’t aware of this, but news about him winning the Adon Vale and being the next in line to the throne over his brother had already spread throughout the kingdom.
The reason for this was that Zani and Elizabeth decided to spread the news through posters all around the main capital.
Now, people who already viewed Sylus as the prodigy of the Astrodial family respected him even more.
It was almost as though he had his own fan base within the kingdom.
The moment Alfred took notice of Sylus, he quickly stood to his feet and slightly bowed his head.
"Your Highness is awake. I thank the stars for your quick recovery."
Sylus stood tall and proud, one hand hidden inside his pocket as usual.
"Alfred, how have you been? You... look occupied."
He took the time to look around at every single soldier standing around Alfred, their eyes glittering with happiness.
It was almost as if they had forgotten why they were at the training ground.
Where the hell are the vice commanders?
Alfred suddenly spoke.
"Because of my disloyalty, His Majesty has chosen to lower my status to a mere trainee for the royal army. A fitting punishment for my actions."
Sylus was silent for a while, and then he sighed while scratching the back of his head.
"Of course, my father acts out. So who did he assign to be his second-in-command?"
"His Majesty believes Her Majesty will be the one to handle the kingdom’s affairs. He was pretty adamant about it."
’Yeah, I’m surprised he didn’t cut you down after you ditched him.’
Something sparked in Sylus’s head.
"Does that mean you no longer have a star blessing as well?" he asked.
Alfred looked sad, his smile barely making a dent on his face as he responded.
"I’m afraid so. As of this moment, I do not possess a star, and I never had a title or a blazer, so I am just an old man—an instructor."
There was no doubt Alfred had a star before he became a Mystero, but the moment he offered himself to be a servant of the Divinity, Star of Trinity, he would gain a new star, meaning his former star would be erased.
From what Sylus knew, only his family had this weird occurrence.
The only other way anyone could lose their star blessing was through something called the Harvest Ritual, which was essentially also a master-servant pact.
Well, there was another way as well, but no one ever tries to do that.
"I see." Sylus looked to the side and walked toward where the wooden swords were kept.
He pulled a sword from its shelf, turned to Alfred, and then pointed it at him.
"Let us spar. I want to see how strong you are without a star blessing."
